Thanks for the Mr Salles link - I'll pass it on. DS has been watching/reading Mr Bruff as well.

Happy half term everyone!

Unlike lots of posters on here, I have no idea what dd has been doing for the last few days. She had a nice day out with friends on Sunday, since then she’s been holed up in her room. Seems a bit down/depressed but maybe she just needs to decompress.

Very impressed with schools offering half term revision sessions. Nothing like that here.

bendmeoverbackwards · 01/06/2023 00:26

@Rowgtfc72 my dd is also a last minute crammer! And also wants a nose piercing!

Hersetta427 · 01/06/2023 09:14

I prefer the dark green but the belt line seems quite high so it may make you look out of proporation if you have a large boobage above it.

Hersetta427 · 01/06/2023 09:29

Ignore me - have two tabs open with different threads !

So much Cold War stress here! She's left the textbook at home and is relying on friends to send her photos of the pages. It does seem like an awful lot of content. Nonetheless she is knuckling down (a bit), though when I suggest she does a bit more she informs me that she's doing more than her friends. I should imagine she's actually about in the middle as some are very conscientious.

I got a Cold War poster from Amazon with a timeline on it, only a few pounds, and stuck on wall. That whole Cold War YouTube vid is a good refresher.

It's been hard work today - finally got him to do some geography work book which has highlighted he needs to go over the case studies again.

CornishCoast · 01/06/2023 16:41

No revision here. DD’s period came a week early. It explains her out of character difficult behaviour the last couple of days. Cramps and tears. Have made her a bed on the sofa and she is watching a favourite film. Grateful it didn’t happen on an exam day!

DownTheRabbitHoIe · 01/06/2023 17:23

That's a good point @CornishCoast

It's a difficult enough time doing exams without periods, hay fever and other things that can knock them sideways.

Jowak1 · 01/06/2023 17:29

My son has done a bit of Biology and Spanish today but I think he's struggling to get into the revising routine he was in the first 2 weeks!!

DD has been struggling with hers since 12, so knowing it could take a while to find one that doesn't upset the body, I took her to our practice nurse at the GP and asked for the pill in August last year.

It's really worth doing if their periods are a pest.

Because DD is gay they have a very low dose one as it's not being used for contraception and luckily, the first one they tried has worked wonders. They can take it without a break for three months with one week off.

It's literally been a godsend to DD, I dread to think how they'd have handled exams otherwise.

DontForgetToBreathe · 01/06/2023 18:26

I thought DS would have been more into it considering how he felt when he came out of each exam.

NCTDN · 01/06/2023 20:15

This is no surprise to all of os with children who took the ocr computer science paper.

DS has been painting the garden walls and jet washing the yard as is planning on hosting a "bybabab" party on the 16th. Apparently it means burn your books and bring a bottle. He has also commandeered a neighbours chimnea for the event.

I wish he would put as much effort into revising for the exams as he does planning how to celebrate them finishing.

NCTDN · 01/06/2023 20:31

@Hellocatshome GrinGrin

TripleDaisySummer · 01/06/2023 20:43

I got DS to do a bit more - and found more that needs going over - so have a place to start with geography tomorrow.

He's showing a lot of reluctance with English and RS still though - English is probably fine though so important and RS he did okay with last years paper.

There's enough left with History, Geography and Welsh alone to keep him busy - though he say he wants to do some RS his actions say otherwise.

memenotea · 02/06/2023 07:09

Can’t believe half term is almost over! All that revision they were going to get done that never unite happened as intended!
10 more school days and it’ll all be over!

TripleDaisySummer · 02/06/2023 10:46

DS doesn't have last exam till 21st - two days after DD1 last A-level exam - he started first as well.

He doesn't want to do any again - I keep saying next week will be worst of it and one final push is needed but he tried and fed up now.

filchards · 02/06/2023 11:17

@Hellocatshome - that's cool and very funny!

SummerCyclist98 · 02/06/2023 11:44

DD restarted this morning after a 5d break which has done her good. Exams every day next week but the biology on Friday afternoon will be hard as she much prefers the morning exam slot. She really wants to do well in biology as she wants to do A-level. is currently avoiding revising for Eng Lang which is her weakness but needs G6 for six form, she’s done well to drag it up from a weak4 but struggles with confidence more than ability, and lack of teaching as 4 English Teachers left physically at Easter but had given up by Xmas…
Anyone spotted any good AQA biology crib stuff??

CornishCoast · 02/06/2023 11:55

@ReformedWaywardTeen excellent planning! I remember my mum did the same for one of my sisters who had terrible period pains, she couldn’t have sat her exams without being on the pill. My DD usually sails through her periods and didn’t get hers until she was nearly 15 (late developer like me) so it didn’t occur to me. Hopefully she will bounce back today. I really would like her to do some revision.

Yep. Let the daily meltdowns and ‘notdonenoughrevisionasplanned’ drama begin after every exam
lol I give up !

DontForgetToBreathe · 02/06/2023 12:09

Well, I’ll hang on in there till the bitter end but hopefully these ups and downs and mood swings will not be the new norm.
