Oh..we have a clear one but it does have a little label saying 'sports direct' I guess that's a no no.

SheilaFentiman · 09/06/2023 08:02

I don’t know for sure, DS1 rejected every clear one I showed him as not suitable so I went the label cutting route 😀 he then just refills that one.

DD has a diet coke bottle with the label removed... seems to have done the trick

spiderlight · 09/06/2023 08:55

We had a massive burst pipe incident in our street a couple of weeks ago and no water all day, so Welsh Water handily provided 24 bottles of water, which have been perfect! I've cut the labels off. He had to take the label off his favourite pen as well.

Hersetta427 · 09/06/2023 09:09

DD has been ranted about Geography content (again). The textbooks they have are so outdated the chapter on some cities that they have to know about for Rio it was banging on about regeneration in connection with the upcoming olympics and then the benefits of the UK being in the EU !!!!!!!!!!!

Think AQA definitely need new books !

8 more for us - we are at least in single figures now !

Wish DS would consider doing Geography for A levels. He clearly loves it and enjoyed going to Norfolk and is naturally an outdoorsy type. Can understand it so well because he was explaining deforestation and human impact on climate change without me prompting him. But I stay quiet incase he tries to ruin his own grade on this. Maths Further Maths and Physics? Sounds so boring to me compared to geography.

PennywisePoundFoolish · 09/06/2023 10:32

Geography and Biology for DS2 today. Geography likely to be meh as he has struggled with it since YR10, he has the knowledge but he doesn't write enough or include enough of the key words or something. I had question his choice of doing Geography and History as options but he was adamant. It's unlikely he'll pass either, but tbh the school options weren't great for him, so I am not sure what he could have done instead really. Biology is his favourite science, he is hoping to do that alongside Chemistry and Maths at A Levels. He has online English tuition tonight but he usually enjoys it and he really could do with the pass so I'm hoping he can get over the line.
I think after today he has another 5 exams to go.

Best of luck to all

DD isn't feeling overly confident about triple Biology tomorrow. She prefers chemistry and physics by far. I think the first Biology exam put her off somewhat

DS isn't overly confident either and he's chosen to do it at A level. Why I'm not sure because he gets better grades in Physics and Chemistry. He says he likes Biology more though.

Hoping for a good paper today.

spiderlight · 09/06/2023 10:43

WJEC Geography paper 2 'wasn't too bad', apparently :) DS now has to traipse all the way home and then go back again by 1 for Digital Tech, because Y11s aren't allowed to stay on site if they're not in an exam or revision class.

I love geography (my degree subject) but my son hated the A level syllabus. Having looked at it, I'd agree with him.

They did globalisation which is quite waffly and interlinked, resource security (quite dry) and coasts and natural hazards for the umpteenth time. They didn't choose the more interesting (in my opinion) urban and population type topics.

The coursework also came at a bad time in terms of his EPQ, UCAS application and the final push in the autumn term. My son went from wanting to study it at Uni to being delighted when it was over. If that makes you feel any better about it...

TripleDaisySummer · 09/06/2023 11:01

DS says WJEC geography was alright.

DD1 done A-level geography should be her highest grade - she enjoyed it that much and course work was a huge bock of time though her deadline wasn't near UCAS ones.

kidstaxidriver · 09/06/2023 11:27

DS has fed back AQQ Geog paper not as good as first one with a couple of tricky questions…… not waxing lyrical about it, which is a shame as he wants to do it for A level too and also has Bio this pm which he’s dreading!!

spiderlight · 09/06/2023 11:30

DS has come home happier about the WJEC geography paper than he has been for any of the others so far. One of the options for the last section was one that he'd revised loads yesterday, so he should do well on that, and there was only one three-mark question he was unsure about, so fingers crossed he's done well. He has an hour at home now and then back in for Digital Technology, which is a real unknown quantity because it's the first year the course has ever run, so there are no past papers, and it's the first on-screen exam he's ever done.

meuroticjishmum · 09/06/2023 11:33

DS back from Geography. Has Biology 2 this afternoon. Finally in single digits!!! - now only 9 to go although annoyingly finishes on 19th when a lot of his friends finish on 16th and will be enjoying the weekend....

Hersetta427 · 09/06/2023 11:44

DD said AQA Geography was good. Moaned about the Bristol question but was very happy about Nigeria.

Ooh was Nigeria there? DS was watching a video on it while he was eating breakfast so glad it was covered.

All I've heard was it was ok but he's with his mates and obviously he has to pretend we never speak when they're about Hmm

spiderlight · 09/06/2023 12:16

WJEC was apparently elephants and Brazil.

DontForgetToBreathe · 09/06/2023 12:46

Although DO NOT PLAY above song if they really are trying to study hahaha probably more for us x

spiderlight · 09/06/2023 12:49

DS has gone off into the unknown. Is anyone else doing Digital Tech?

Hellocatshome · 09/06/2023 12:59

DS said AQA Geography was easy, but then in the past he has thought things are easy because he has completely failed to grasp what the question is actually asking so we will have to wait and see.

Blubell46 · 09/06/2023 13:00

@Hellocatshome have not heard from dd so will have to wait this evening...she has biology in 30mins!..

megletthesecond · 09/06/2023 13:04

hello I've heard the same from DS in the past. Now when he says it's easy I want to weep as it's probably a cock up.
