DD said that Spanish went OK but there seemed to be an abnormal amount of 'B' answers in the multiple choice! Apparently it worried everyone.

Circleoffifths · 06/06/2023 19:11

Actually - a week Friday even.

SheilaFentiman · 06/06/2023 19:13

DS1 is doing iGcse physics so it is a different day, don’t worry

Indeed - biology Friday! Hope DS more on top of this than me!

Maths and History for DS2 tomorrow.....

BaconAndAvocado · 06/06/2023 20:07

StanUpForRights Just seen your post!
DS2 has Maths and History too tomorrow. Maths an important one for 6th form.

Honeylemonandginger · 06/06/2023 20:13

DD is not very optimistic about her Spanish today. This is the subject she has definitely fell out of love with as she really enjoyed it in Years 7 and 8. She didn’t revise a great deal and think there was much guess work in the multiple choice today!
Currently revising for maths and history for tomorrow. First day of double exams -she is going to be exhausted. On the bright side she has no exams on Thursday so can revise for Biology on Friday.

BackT · 06/06/2023 20:13

Maths and history tomorrow here too. DD in a flap as the teacher of the other group at her school did a history Cranmer online and she felt like she didn't know anything.

Seems her class really didn't finish the course.

She's doing her best but not looking good for history.

Maths has taken a back seat. Not sure that's a good thing either!

Same. There's so much content, theres not time to barely finish the course let alone go back over the topics they did a long time ago. DC definitely doesn't know enough for Tomorrow's exam.

My nephew is doing his GCSE's at the moment. I've been sending him bits so he knows I'm thinking of him .. so far, stationary, candy kittens and tony chocolony. Any ideas as to other things I can get that he might like?

DontForgetToBreathe · 06/06/2023 21:10

Two exams in one day tomorrow. Will there be a revision session after maths for the history exam? Our school have not said, DS doesn’t know. I’ve told him to take the revision books for history and just concentrate on the maths now. Two hours before History Exam, there should be some intense cramming going on.

Stationary sounds good. Special nice smelling shower wash and body spray? I got DS a lovely blokey cologne sort of to remember this time of his life, (like one seems to remember afterwards that it was the best of times, worst of times!) It’s become his must-have lucky thing to put on before going off to school.

They are doing a booster before afternoon exams at DS school but it is on their timetable so they know where to go. Best to take books just in case nothing has been sorted.

Is anyone else’s DC doing Migration on the AQA history paper? It is so hard - so much content over so many centuries. Interesting topic but seems an insane amount to be covering at this level.

Oh what a brilliant Aunty! I was a boarder and anything through the post meant the world. I remember sheer joy getting a pack of polos.

Maybe a funky postcard, keyring? I think the sweets & chocolate sound perfect though, I'd be tempted to stick with that.

Yes! And hating it. She's been working hard on it all day, I'm not sure Maths got much of a look in.

SquitMcJit · 06/06/2023 22:27

I feel your pain, @Piony Migration has been very tricky and school spent much more time on Paper 1 over the years - which I’m hoping is a good strategy…

Am also hoping that the paper will be okay as it’s the first year it’s been taught- or the grade boundaries will be low if everyone is finding it hard to cover.

ilovebagpuss · 06/06/2023 22:27

@10in10 that's so nice what a lovely aunty you are! My DD's gran sent a box of lush bath bombs which went down well!
I think most teens would love sweets or chocolate really or a box of those delivered brownies?
My DD is flagging a bit this week so I need to think of a small not too expensive treat for the weekend.

My DC also enjoyed Spanish in years 7 and 8 and took it for the school trip it involved in year 9.....then along came Covid 😔

BackT · 06/06/2023 22:39

Restoration England here alongside medicine.

The content is insane! We thought it was one of her best subjects - got an 8 in the mock but now thinks she'll be lucky to get a 6.

Oh well. Doesn't really matter...

Saisong · 06/06/2023 22:52

DD is doing OCR history, but I agree the actual content is insane. Her paper is on Monarchy and Democracy, but covers the time period 1000-2014, from Ethelred the Unready to Tony Blair and everything in-between.
The paper is only 1 hour, but the potential for questioning covers such a ridiculous range. Poor thing. If she didn't hate history before... she does now!

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 06/06/2023 23:06

I think DD has American mid west and the Normans (or something like that) for her History. She's gone from hoping for a 6 before GCSEs started to being happy just to pass after a horrendous paper 1. But she had to do either History or Geography and thinks that Geography would have been just as bad.

DS's relatives have been doing similar- he's very much appreciated everything -

Hetty's brownies
Nando's gift card - had a nice lunch out at the weekend as a break.
Autobiography of a footballer he likes
Snack delivery from a supermarket- nachos, dips, cans of drink, sushi, sweets etc.

He's a lucky boy!

Maths here today. Dd went into school at 11 yesterday as no exams. There is no official study leave but she said only a couple of kids actually went in at 9.
I asked if she'd got loads of revision done- she replied one past paper. That was it. She's going to see if she can come home after maths to revise here for Fridays exam. She's getting more done at home.
