@Hersetta427 @HippyChickMama these sound right up DDs alley I think she'll have done ok with the themes and poems by the sounds of it. She was a bit Hmm at the thought of having to focus on just one character tbh so at least with a theme they can show off their knowledge better (what they managed to recall)

The themes were either the effect of women or the effect of the inspector. All her friends did the second but she said she was really happy with the women option. as more quotes immediately sprunbg to mind.

OvaHere · 24/05/2023 12:49

DS sent a text to say Eng Lit went 'really well'. He's not the biggest fan of poetry and wasn't looking forward to this one so I'm glad it seems to have been a good paper.

DontForgetToBreathe · 24/05/2023 12:50

So happy that’s over. Definitely NO procrastinating today …much… I can’t be dealing with evening mood swings and last minute cramming

HappiDaze · 24/05/2023 12:51

@Hersetta427 Fab I know DD knows a bit about both of these themes because she spoke to me about them so that's good to know. I wonder which one she chose, possibly the women as the mother doesn't really change whereas Sheila / Shirley ?!? learns and grows as a person from the experience.

kidstaxidriver · 24/05/2023 12:56

@kennythekangaroo sorry for your loss and well done to you and your daughter for persevering.

Eduqas English today was better than expected, so a big sigh of relief they could write something although both essays were themes!

ladybee2 · 24/05/2023 12:57

DS said the AQA English Lit paper today was generally good. He said they had the poem: My Last Duchess, which he compared with London.
No more Eng Lit ever! ( unless he fails and has to do resits)!

jamimmi · 24/05/2023 13:00

@kennythekangaroo hugs to you both whatever the outcome she should be told she's amazing for even doing them. I'm sure you have said that already x

roadsidetree · 24/05/2023 13:11

I had a brief message from DS saying the English literature exam went well. Will have to wait till he gets home for more updates.

Tomorrow he has Physics in the morning and Computer Science in the afternoon.

mumonthehill · 24/05/2023 13:37

@kennythekangaroo sending positive thoughts.

ReformedWaywardTeen · 24/05/2023 13:42

Media now which DD was quite fine about and wants to continue for A'Level.

I did get a text asking if it would be acceptable to burn their English poetry book during lunch.
I pointed out that to do so at school could result in an arson charge and although that would remove the stress of exams, that was rather drastic and also, it will be handy for their brother next year

So they've now said they will laugh at him when they hand it over.

Poor DS.

Exact same short message from DD. She was dreading having to sit for so long. Physics tomorrow then half term x

iwantavuvezela · 24/05/2023 13:54

@kennythekangaroo I am so very sorry for your loss - and for your DD - how difficult to be grieving and supporting your daughter - my thoughts are with you both .

Changes17 · 24/05/2023 13:59

@kennythekangaroo I'm so sorry.

HippyChickMama · 24/05/2023 14:01

@kennythekangaroo echoing others in saying I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

ElfDragon · 24/05/2023 14:10

I’m so sorry for your loss, kennythekangaroo. It must be so difficult. I hope all goes as well as it can for you both.

BaconAndAvocado · 24/05/2023 14:13

kennythekangaroo so sorry for your loss.

Glad to hear Eng Lit was fair. DS2 will be over the moon that he never has to study it again.
Biggies for him tomorrow - Physics and Computer Science.

BonjourCrisette · 24/05/2023 14:23

@kennythekangaroo What a lot for your poor DD to be coping with - and you too. Well done her on getting in and taking the exams, even though upset.

bendmeoverbackwards · 24/05/2023 14:23

@kennythekangaroo I’m so sorry, that’s heartbreaking. So incredibly hard for you both Flowers

bendmeoverbackwards · 24/05/2023 14:28

@siriusblackcat how is your ds today?

I got nothing from dd about English lit today. We had a bit of an issue last night and I got drawn into a long (autistic) conversation in which she grilled me repeatedly why I said this or that, why did I change what I said, why did I lie, what did I mean etc etc. Arrgghh, I had to put the phone down in the end, she’s probably still angry with me.

GinGella · 24/05/2023 14:29

@kennythekangaroo so sorry for yours and your DDs loss what an awful situation. I hope the exam board and school are supportive.

Computer science and physics here for DD tomorrow the worst exam scheduled day for her so fingers 🤞 for kind papers!

She's looking forward to the break for half term and a deserved rest and mix of revision. She's also still on full timetable till the last exam but I'm not making her go in Friday as seems unnecessary at this point!

bendmeoverbackwards · 24/05/2023 14:30

When she’s stressed it’s often like this. If I dare to pause while I’m speaking or not repeat what I said word for word and all hell breaks loose. I’m planning to put some boundaries around this after GCSEs. I hope other ASD parents might understand this.

SheilaFentiman · 24/05/2023 14:45

Via DH, DS1 has said that 'english lit went well'

Hellocatshome · 24/05/2023 15:42

DS hates English Lit with a passion. He said it went "really good" this either means it went really well or je completely misunderstood what he was supposed to do. Guess we will find out in August.

SomersetBrie · 24/05/2023 16:04

"It could have been a lot worse" was the verdict here. I'll take that.

Honeylemonandginger · 24/05/2023 16:06

@kennythekangaroo So sorry for your loss. Such a difficult and stressful time for you all.💐
