@AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough you win! You'll be an absolute guru of exams by the end or a gibbering wreck

@ReformedWaywardTeen I've been having so many anxiety dreams around exams. I wasn't this bad with mine and I'd missed most of my last year due to ill health. I think it's mainly the worry of getting a 4 in English so he doesn't have to resit. <chews fingernails some more>

It's 4 in maths here. And they hate maths.

I felt silly saying to DH that I've been waking up in a blind panic but he then admitted he's been worried too and he barely sat any himself such was his attitude towards education.

siriusblackcat · 23/05/2023 13:15

Poor DS was in A&E until 2am this morning with a really bad kidney infection.
How he got through his chemistry exam yesterday I'll never know.

He's got physics on Thursday but not fit to revise right now. I've told him to rest as much as he can today and see how he is tomorrow to revise.

Doesn't help that he projectile vomited all over his revision notes yesterday afternoon 🤮

Spring45Mermaid · 23/05/2023 13:23

Oh gosh massive un mn hug for your son @siriusblackcat surely he meets special consideration rules?? And he he feels better soon.

Yes we've got a doctors note to cover yesterday and the other exam this week. Should help a little.

spiderlight · 23/05/2023 13:51

Oh no - poor lad! :(

OhhLaaLaa · 23/05/2023 14:02

@siriusblackcat here's hoping for a speedy recovery Flowers

BobBobBobbing · 23/05/2023 14:25

@siriusblackcat poor boy! Hope the anti-bs kick in soon.

No word from DS1 about french but from the look of twitter, it's a good job he went for foundation tier.

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 23/05/2023 14:26

@siriusblackcat hope your DS improves quickly - it’s just typical isn’t it with the timing of it all. It’s rotten luck.

CornishCoast · 23/05/2023 14:42

@siriusblackcat poor boy, hope he bounces back.

Edexcel chemistry wasn’t too bad, waiting to hear how Edexcel French went.

Sending my best, hope he is okay. This is so much pressure.

mumonthehill · 23/05/2023 15:02

So sorry to hear of these poorly dc. Ds eczema has flared up. Elder ds who is now 22 suddenly had a small patch of grey hair appear during his GCSE's!!

Hersetta427 · 23/05/2023 15:17

DD just back from edexl RS (islam) which she described as hard. two people cried she said and whilst I was waiting to pick her up I saw another girl walk down the road in tears. Paper 1 gave them a false sense of security she said !

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/05/2023 15:24

Oh @siriusblackcat your poor boy, that’s awful. I hope school are supportive and he feels better soon.

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/05/2023 15:25

Oh dear @Hersetta427 let’s hope the grade boundaries are low. I’m waiting for dd to come out of AQA RS (Judaism and Christianity).

Fifiellz · 23/05/2023 15:26

My DD said (AQA) Judaism and Christianity was the easiest paper she's done so far.

But she strangely always gets her best marks on RS papers.

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/05/2023 15:28

That’s good news @Fifiellz bet my dd doesn’t say the same! She did badly in the mock RS (she got a 4) but she said she didn’t revise at all. I’m hoping she can get at least a 5.

Fingers crossed for your DD too. My daughter isn't hugely academic so it was nice to see her come out of an exam with a smile on her face.

She only needs to pass everything so she can stay on for sixth form.

BobBobBobbing · 23/05/2023 16:20

RS was yuk here, French was "surprisingly ok" but he is in foundation tier.

That's our first GCSE over- no more RS ever. Currently with his tutor for last minute cramming on An Inspector Calls and the much hated poetry. Thankfully it's the only exam tomorrow so he can give it his full focus.

Northernlurker · 23/05/2023 16:22

My dd loved the RS paper. Which is great considering that chemistry was a total train wreck yesterday!

Onwards!!!!

ourflagmeansdeath · 23/05/2023 16:25

DD found French really easy apparently, she loved both the reading and the listening although she struggled with the listening a little. She didn't do RS but luckily only has English Lit tomorrow which is her best subject so a nice evening today

StandUpForYourRights · 23/05/2023 16:34

How come all of you get actual information out of your DC about the exams.

All I get is "yeah it was fine" for every single one. I have no idea how they are getting on.

BobBobBobbing · 23/05/2023 16:38

Grin The feedback has been at most 2 words from ds1 "yuk", "good" and "surprisingly ok". The exception was Biology when he said he had to keep checking that they'd given him the right paper as he thought it was surprisingly ok. Suspect that's the most I'll get on any paper.

TripleDaisySummer · 23/05/2023 16:54

@siriusblackcat I hope your Ds is better soon - it sounds bloody awful even without exams on top.

How come all of you get actual information out of your DC about the exams.

I don't get much - I think he just prefers to move on than worry - don't get much out of DD1 either though I think partly fear she'll jinx it.

I get a step by step relive of each exam. To be fair I get that every evening anyway when she tells me about her day. Usually takes about 20 minutes at least - she likes nothing more than to go for a walk while she tells me so I cannot escape.....

Youngest doesn't tell me anything.
