What area? Near me loads movement

2022wontbecrap · 17/03/2023 09:20

At allocation day there were 43 kids could be on the waitlist, subject to them wanting to still remain on it. Yesterday morning, we were 15th. At 5pm got the email to say my daughter had a place. Our council is one you have to accept or decline by the 15th March, hence the movement yesterday. I believe in previous years there is still a lot of movement up to September.

Fingers crossed for you!

number1miss · 22/03/2023 08:04

Each LA does it differently. In my specific area they offer as places turned down. And not unusual to be a lot of movement

Hunter2501 · 23/03/2023 22:15

Haven’t got a positive experience but we are currently 23rd!

wellnessjackie · 23/03/2023 22:22

We got a place on the waiting list before school started, some wait years and by then have had a change of heart.

Any idea what number on the waiting list you were around this time?

gabster33 · 23/03/2023 22:39

We started at 38 for 70 grammar stream spaces. We went down to 44 at second offers. But we're 6 by middle of august, 2 by the first day of term. Two didn't turn up so we got one of those spaces. We had both school uniforms- one ready to return.

This gives me so much hope - she’s currently 23 - happy to wait it out and be patient, just hope it pays off

Last year we were 30 when the list opened in April. Comprehensive school in London, 8 form entry. We got a place in August. Others got right into September. We went up and down the list constantly as people were added or left. Closer it gets to September, I think the more people decide not to switch so you can suddenly jump up.

CherryChara · 24/03/2023 00:58

How do you find out what number you are on the waiting list?

Depends on your area and whether the school manages their own waiting list or not. Some local authorities have an online waiting list checker, mine did. It opened in April once the initial flurry had died down and you could log in hourly to torment yourself.

Some local authorities you have to phone/email and ask. Some schools take over their own lists so you'd have to contact the school to find out.

@number1miss I feel your pain and could also do with some positive WL stories. My daughter is currently 15th place for her first choice school!

No movement as yet…

I will ring every week to the LA! Although, I’m becoming obsessed and have urges to ring everyday🥴

Good luck and keep positive👍🏻

Turquoiseturtle3 · 22/04/2023 20:07

Im currently tormenting myself. Any updates on people’s positions?

Secondary23 · 22/04/2023 21:45

We are still waiting. The second round of offers in our area is 12th May so hoping we find something out then but I know most places are very oversubscribed 🤞. The wait is horrible.

Secondary23 · 04/05/2023 14:52

Have any of you received an offer from the waiting list since the second round of allocations? We are still waiting.

SuperSue77 · 04/05/2023 18:06

Sorry to hear that ☹️ we were 36th when they first announced positions, I haven’t checked since as worried we may have slipped further down and don’t want more bad news.
We are appealing and feel we have a good case so not going to check on position until we know the outcome of the appeal. Hope you get good news soon!

Secondary23 · 04/05/2023 18:07

@SuperSue77 thank you. when is your appeal going ahead?

SuperSue77 · 04/05/2023 18:56

Secondary23 · 04/05/2023 18:07

@SuperSue77 thank you. when is your appeal going ahead?

Was told provisional dates of 22-25 May and they are supposed to give 10 school days notice and not heard from them yet ☹️
I really want my son to stand a chance of joining in on all the transition activities which start mid-June, so desperate for our appeal to be heard asap!

Hunter2501 · 04/05/2023 21:33

Hiya
We we’re 26 on the waiting list and was offered a place last week!

Turquoiseturtle3 · 04/05/2023 21:50

Good luck with your appeal Supersue
and congrats on your place hunter! I will ask the council for an updated position in a few weeks. Can’t imagine it’s moved much though :(

Secondary23 · 04/05/2023 21:59

@Hunter2501 that's great news congrats!Wine
