Waiting list - positive experiences

Hello..I need positive secondary school waiting list stories please.

I just need a pick me up today, hoping you could share your positive experiences with your child’s waiting list experiences, Please.

@schoolstress1 sorry we are different area, we are in Northants but it seems everywhere has the same problem

@Turquoiseturtle3 I understand them holding for a short while but they must know by now if they are taking it. Hard on those waiting for a place who haven't got one or didn't get any preferences

Agreed!!! So selfish of them. Hopefully they will start to release. If they are going private, fees have to be paid! There was a lot of “just in case” excuses apparently

Hi can I ask in general is there movement on the WL? I've heard a lot about private school offers do they happen around this time? Appreciate any advice as WL seems a constant source of worry

@Priyavk1 we found out yesterday that we have been offered our second choice and have accepted. There is movement but apparently the councils have been super busy so are a little more delayed than usual. Good luck! Lots can still happen between now and September especially with transition days if people don't show up.

For Bucks the next allocation round is 16 June and then 3 July when we find out our updated WL position

We did find our WL position for Slough school 166!!!! Yes !!! For Ditton Academy! So makes 13 doable!

Fingers crossed we get good news email at some point!

Any positive movement on the waiting lists for anyone?

Hi Turquoiseturtle3 we are still waiting to see what happens on next allocation round set for 16th June and 3rd July when we find out our final WL position. We are position 13 and 15 for our preferred schools in Bucks but we live in Berkshire. And only 2.42 miles from our preferred school.

On Friday we have our admission appeal hearing too , so definitely feeling the stress

No update from me - 50’s on first choice school and 30’s for second choice. Lost one appeal for second choice school this week :(

Oh no, fingers crossed for your second appeal (presuming there is one). Do you have any idea on how much movement there is for your first and second choices? The council should be able to say how many further offers they have made previously to give you an idea../

Hi Everyone

So a further update from our rollercoaster journey! We have just been offered our 1st choice school, my DD is over the moon! We never thought it would happen as the school is massively oversubscribed every year but are very grateful. Just in time for transition.

Don't give up hope, we went from nothing to this piece of amazing news! Good Luck to everyone still waiting xx

So yesterday we found out our final WL before the holidays we are now at position 3 (were 15) .
What would people rate our chances?

Why is it your final waiting list position? What happens if day 5 people give up their place… sorry, don’t know how the grammar offering system works…

So I say it's final as we now won't be told our WL position anymore.

Now parents will only be contacted if a space becomes available

This is fir Bucks LA and they have made it very clear that parents must tell them whether they want to stay on WL by 9 July otherwise they will assume they are happy with the place offered.

I'm glad there has been some movement on the WL, I just don't know if it's enough now to get us a place by September.

Which I suspect is an impossible question to answer.
