Just that really.

Have you applied in your catchment or further?

Anyone thinking they will have to appeal or do you know you will definitely get a space due to catchment / sibling?

Has anyone not put their child's preference as first choice? Speaking to parents around me here they all seem to prioritise child's preference, which I get it's good to involve them but when their preference is based solely on where their friends are going, seems daft.

We told DD that secondary school was our choice as at her age she doesn't have the life experience/maturity to make sensible decisions about her education at 11yrs old. The choice will be 100% hers for 6th form/University. We have chosen private and received confirmation of her place 2 weeks ago so will decline whichever place she is allocated tomorrow.

Anyone waiting up until 12?

I’m up until that time anyway. But I can’t work out how to log in to the parent portal! The only option is to apply.

Boomboom22 · 28/02/2023 22:27

Does anyone know if kent is available at midnight if you log in?

Boomboom22 · 28/02/2023 22:28

They said email after 4 or log in but that might mean log in after 4.

Mind for the kent test they said email after 5 and it came by 12.

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 28/02/2023 22:37

@Boomboom22

Also waiting for Kent here. It is a bit vague about the time to log in isn't it? For the Kent Test it definitely said log in after 5pm, but we got the email much earlier.

I'm almost certain we'll get first choice as it's our nearest grammar and dd fits one of high up over subscription categories, but I'm still a bit nervous.

Good luck!

Boomboom22 · 28/02/2023 22:42

@SheldontheWonderSchlong

And to you. I work at a grammar but he didn't score high enough so hoping for one a train ride away in the other direction! We're quite rural here, loads of potential schools to work at within 30 min drive but none you can get to as a child independently.
sorryfor the bold text mn is rubbish at formatting!

When I type in the address a box appears asking for my email and password.

Our parents portal has 3 options once you log in. I am currently flitting between ' messages' and the application and 'apply for a school place' which just confirms my choices. Not sure where the results will land once they're released.....

Same. Not very obvious is it? Also I'm thinking it could be via email?

My recollection is that Kent is usually later on in keeping with the London time.

We are 100% certain to get her first and only choice, sibling and less that 250m as the crow flies, almost 300 intake.

I was really nervous 6 years ago for dd1 as at the time we lived elsewhere so were applying out of catchment, our 2nd choice which I would have been perfectly happy with was fairly likely despite being in a different authority. That one is the only school in the area so has a high PAN as many don't really have any other school available so needs to accept everyone almost.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 01/03/2023 07:10

We got our first choice here so dc3 will be at the same school as older siblings. Phew! There is always that little bit of stress even if it is virtually certain.

mnahmnah · 01/03/2023 07:44

We got our first choice. Still disappointed he isn’t coming to my school. But it’s still great where he’s going.

Never did work out the portal. Got an email at half past midnight, but it went to spam. So I had a panic this morning when other people were messaging me saying the offers they had!

sleepingbuddha · 01/03/2023 09:17

First choice here too. No email (not in junk mail either) but I checked at portal at 9am and it had updated.

CatMattress · 01/03/2023 10:53

Second choice on portal, but like I said previously, all sorts of consultation jiggery pokery going on.

I am actually happy with second choice, though, and DS is a resilient little chap so he'll be ok whatever.

listsandbudgets · 01/03/2023 13:16

Second choice as we expected. Not terrible but not ideal.

Still at least we weren't offered the next nearest which is awful - we filled up our choices with everything but in the hope of avoiding it - phew. I feel sorry for those being offered it - unless they actively chose it - its very undersubscribed for a reason

Boomboom22 · 01/03/2023 14:07

Got 1st choice!

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 01/03/2023 17:06

STILL no email, but logged in on portal at exactly 5 and dd got 1st choice which is fantastic. She was almost the last in her class to find out though so I have no clue what arbitrary information they use to group the emails!

Jules912 · 01/03/2023 18:06

Got 1st choice!

louise5754 · 01/03/2023 20:14

We were the last to find out too. Pretty annoying as I went online at 12am. Literally everyone found out between then and 7pm. I had an email at 5pm
