Minimal revision all week but I guess at least DS has done things that are good for his mental health! And no exam today so he says he's going to revise from 10am. There's just no point my worrying, is there?

Nope. Provide food, encouragement, try to have faith.

NancyJoan · 06/06/2022 08:00

No exams today here, then six in four days, inc one day where she has two back to back in the morning. Ugh.

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 06/06/2022 08:11

5 exams this week, 5 next week, then 3, then SLEEEEEEEEP! DC spent the evening chatting online with friends - it was lovely to hear them all laughing. This is a 'heavy' week - History, Physics, Shakespeare, Maths ... urgh!

g1c2d3 · 06/06/2022 08:30

7 exams this week for DS - three days in a row he has two per day. Good luck to all DCs with theirs!

zighead · 06/06/2022 09:52

Good luck to all the exam candidates this week!
My DS started off well with revision in the first half of the week but has hardly done anything since unfortunately. He has 4 exams this week.
It's dragging on so badly...roll on June 23rd.

CornishGem1975 · 06/06/2022 10:05

Got DD out of bed at 8 so she could wake up properly - she's doing a full day of revision today and she started off her day with a coffee and donuts to get herself going Grin Mainly doing past papers today.

chocolatenutcase · 06/06/2022 10:37

Well DS still doesn't get study leave and the provision at school is patchy to say the least. He was really grumpy today so I kept him off (form!) and he's gone in for maths and English which have usually been ok. Then he's got biology and geography which haven't been great.
I'm exhausted by it all so goodness knows how he feels.

shazshaz · 06/06/2022 10:44

Its interesting to hear that some are allowed at home to revise. At DDs school they have them in for a normal school day - much to her disgust. I think they have tweaked the timetable so they have a revision lesson on an upcoming exam. Just as well really because if it was up to DD to revise at home it wouldn't happen :)

SeaDogs · 06/06/2022 10:57

Anyone else have Latin prose literature this morning?

I've been finding I have really mixed feelings as DS goes through this long slog. I'm really pleased for him as each subject is ticked off but also it feels like the end of an era- no more English or French. Latin today has made me feel quite emotional as for the last five years I've helped him learn his vocab every week or more recently his literature set texts, and these are really lovely memories, and it's all coming to an end. I feel quite emotional. (Needless to say DS is just glad to get through them!) Bit over-invested maybe!

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 06/06/2022 10:58

I'm equally surprised that schools don't have study leave. Our DC finished on 6 May and have since only gone in for exams. I honestly don't know which is better; each system works for some and not for others.

chocolatenutcase · 06/06/2022 11:19

I think highly organised and motivated kids are better on study leave. A lot are best in school - in a comprehensive with lower performing students at least they are in school ready to sit the exam. For the rest it only works if the lessons are high quality revision lessons and that hasn't been the case for my DS so I have been the master of creative excuses for staying off!

I feel a bit the same way, even about subjects I personally don't like, such as geography. A segment came on the telly last night about moraines or some such and I was about to call a child to watch and then realised that after about eight years, no one in the house was ever going to need to know anything about physical geography again. Never thought I could feel sentimental about plate tectonics....

Akite · 06/06/2022 11:48

Our school doesn't have study leave but most kids are staying off anyway I think. Dd certainly is. I'm supportive of her doing that, as long as she's revising at home which she has been apart from this past week!
couple of days with morning and afternoon exams this week though so she will be in all day for those. I can understand minimising study leave but at this stage, there are so many papers they are just knackered!

chocolatenutcase · 06/06/2022 12:09

It's easy to keep DS off in the morning but much harder to extricate him from school if he been in in the morning. I'm just about to go and try and get him out. Medical appointments seem to be the only valid reason for leaving. He's never been so ill in his life 😂

MrsScrubbingbrush · 06/06/2022 12:16

DD1's school isn't supposed to have study leave but there seems to be a mass walk out after any morning exam. She was the only one who turned up for French the other week!

She's decided to stay at school if there's a lesson she has an exam coming up for otherwise she comes home & studies.

DD2 has been on study leave since the beginning of her exams.

Notcontent · 06/06/2022 12:21

@SeaDogs my dd had Latin this morning. She thought it was ok but time was tight and she had to rush the last question. I feel a bit like you - it feels like something is coming to an end…

SeaDogs · 06/06/2022 13:43

@Notcontent Was she doing Tacitus? DS said he found the last question really vague.

On study leave, I know at the school DB teaches at (inner city with a lot of kids on FSM) they keep everyone coming in because a lot of kids don’t have a quiet workspace at home.

Notcontent · 06/06/2022 14:04

Yes, it was Tacitus!

DD now at home doing maths papers and being rather grumpy…

StColumbofNavron · 06/06/2022 14:12

I'm in the office today so whilst DS1 told me he will do some work today, I suspect his new found love of NCIS will take over. He is overall well-prepared but it is still annoying. DH is at home, but appears to be obsessed with some other box set so I suspect they are not even particularly aware of each other.

Well done for those with Latin today.

Maths and geog tomorrow for DS then two more (history and physics) Thursday and Eng Lang 2 on Friday.

Half term's been interminable - I'm glad it's over!

Straight run to the end now.

Rollergirl11 · 06/06/2022 18:24

@QueenMabby have you missed English Lit on Wednesday? 👀 DD has an identical week!

My ds did Edexcel Eng lit. 40% coursework and only one exam! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Rollergirl11 · 06/06/2022 18:54

@QueenMabby result!

LouisCatorze · 06/06/2022 19:10

Aren't the youngsters just over half way through the six weeks now? Five exams here for DD this week (including two tomorrow). But we're not ticking off the subjects very quickly (only another two will be completed by the end of this week).

MrsPnut · 06/06/2022 19:44

6 this week for DD, 2 tomorrow and Wednesday and then one each on Thursday and Friday.

I’m feeling it more than she is right now.
