Sounds like a plan @BarnacleB

TonyBlairsLover · 03/06/2022 23:21

I’ve got my paper 2 gcse maths this Tuesday Sad nervous because this is my fourth tempt but excited to show what I know. Has anyone else’s DCs got maths?

CornishGem1975 · 03/06/2022 23:24

Revision has started back up now. Honestly I think she only revises when she's with me, but when she's with her dad.

legosnowqueen · 04/06/2022 08:41

@TonyBlairsLover that sounds positive, my DS will be sitting that paper too. Good luck 🤞

Rollergirl11 · 04/06/2022 09:30

@TonyBlairsLover yes DD has Maths on Tuesday. I think everyone will have. Good luck and fingers crossed for you!

TonyBlairsLover · 04/06/2022 09:53

@Rollergirl11 @legosnowqueen good luck to your DCs xx

MirandaWest · 04/06/2022 11:33

I have lost track of what day it is. I work for an accountancy training provider and lots of the students have exams next week and so we have been very busy for the past few weeks (I reply to students' queries by email and live chat). Have been working all over the bank holiday - tomorrow is my only full day off. I think it's Saturday 😃

DD appeared down here and printed off a maths paper - she likes starting the day with one. DS will be asleep as he keeps working late at night. Also last night he wanted to talk about Geography. Being a nice mother I did but it meant I didn't get to bed until after midnight...

BarnacleB · 04/06/2022 14:08

@TonyBlairsLover Hope it goes well for you.

We watched life of Brian for the RS exam ….. ha ha ha ha ha

Lightsabre · 05/06/2022 12:29

Ds is a bit down today. Unfortunately dh and I had a couple of social things going on for the past two days so have been out for the afternoon/early evening. We feel a bit guilty that we haven't been around to test but we also need a break!

I've discussed with Ds that he needs to be less reliant on me in particular but he says he felt 'unsupported' which made me feel crap as I feel like I do loads more than a lot of people I know. I think he just feels pressured and a bit out of control as this is a difficult week coming up with several double exam days. He needs to take a different approach for A levels I think.

Kaftankween · 05/06/2022 13:11

Good luck everyone for the week ahead.

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 05/06/2022 17:17

Big week here. 6 exams and by end of week it’s bye bye RS, Eng Lit and Eng Lang. Just 6 to go after that spread over two weeks…….

I too help DS a lot but this weekend apart from testing him with maths I’ve let him get on with it. I see a lot of fortnite playing has gone on but TBH it’s a big week ahead with limited down time so….

plus I spent afternoon glued to the pageant !

legosnowqueen · 05/06/2022 18:27

DS has knuckled down over the last few days, some structured support from his maths tutor helped. He went out with his mates on Friday night so isn't feeling so hard done by. He has 5 exams next week & 5 the following week so another gruelling few weeks to come.

We got the final prom items, shirt & shoes, yesterday so he is prom-ready 😀

Saw a thread on Chat earlier about a DD who took her phone into an exam by accident & it fell out of her pocket - facing disqualification from that paper/topic & there is speculation about potentially other papers with the same exam board too. So we have had a chat about that...

Good luck to all DCs next week 🤞

Rollergirl11 · 05/06/2022 19:23

Ahhh @Lightsabre i’m sure you are hugely supportive to your DS. We have lives too! Sounds like maybe he’s just a bit anxious about the coming week and he’s just taking it out on you.

DD has her most full on week this week too with 6 exams and 2 days with 2 exams per day. She doesn’t have to go in until after lunch tomorrow and that’s for a Maths revision session ahead of Tuesdays exam. But by the end of the week she’ll have done 16 with 7 left to do. She’ll have completed RE, English Lit and English Lang.

She is almost prom ready too. Picked up her dress from the dressmaker last week for the alterations. She has her shoes and bag. Appointments for hair, make-up and nails have all been made. She just needs to sort out her jewellery. Oh and we haven’t organised transport yet but that’s next on the list. We don’t even know what time it starts yet.

Notcontent · 05/06/2022 19:33

A very big week ahead for my dd too. It just feels like too much content to have to deal with at the same time. She has spent a lot of time revising but is very stressed.

CornishGem1975 · 05/06/2022 19:40

First day of study leave tomorrow, 5 exams this week starting with maths and geography on Tuesday, neither of which she is looking forward to!

Good luck to all - it feels better to be getting back into it, half term was just bad timing really. Long few weeks ahead but the month ends with celebration day at school and then prom which they are all so excited for.

MirandaWest · 05/06/2022 19:57

DD has lots of exams next week (6 I think). Study leave starts tomorrow but there are some study sessions and she’s going to go to some tomorrow (despite not having gone to most of them before half term).

DS has three exams next week too - I think we’ll all be glad when it’s over.

MirandaWest · 05/06/2022 20:07

DS and DD are now doing Spanish role plays. As DS scraped through Spanish GCSE this is quite funny 😄

Bellini12 · 05/06/2022 20:24

DD has her worst week to come with 7 exams next week. Almost realised as an after thought that her sister has her year 9 exams all next week too. So it’s been a fun half term (not). DH has his big birthday on the Saturday so that’s not great timing either.

I think we’ll all feel better when this coming week is out of the way.

IThinkIMadeItWorse · 05/06/2022 20:53

Well we have had a very quiet half term, DS seems to have recovered from Covid quite quickly and has been doing some revision (lying in his bed with his chromebook) but we have all stayed home avoiding other people all week. I enjoyed rewatching his Shakespeare play with him. He has five exams this week but a day of study leave tomorrow. Think he is quite looking forward to no more English after the end of this week. DH is still coughing quite a lot so will probably work from home for at least tomorrow, possibly longer.

DS has definitely needed more support from me than perhaps would have been expected but he has SEN. Once he is only doing his strong subjects at sixth form things should be more straightforward and I'm hoping I can leave him to it a bit more.

All the best for this week to everyone, especially @TonyBlairsLover - well done you for sticking with it - show them what you can do!

chocolatenutcase · 05/06/2022 21:07

Good luck everyone. My DS has lost his mojo and hasn't done as much revision as I'd hoped. He did more on the day I was away all day which probably says a lot! I am quite hands on because he's really poor at organisation and planning but he does do stuff on his own. I do a lot of testing and talking through things. I can't wait until the English exams are out of the way. I'm crossing everything that he will pass them. I just keep telling him it will all be over in 3 weeks.

BarnacleB · 05/06/2022 22:56

Good luck everyone for the week ahead.

FFF2022 · 06/06/2022 07:29

Yes good luck to all the GSCEers and us! Have realised that this week is the last week of all the English exams which makes me feel slightly worried ie that there are no more opportunities to improve. Oh well really hoping that with the exams starting up again they get back in the saddle again in terms of revision….

MyOtherProfile · 06/06/2022 07:40

Minimal revision all week but I guess at least DS has done things that are good for his mental health! And no exam today so he says he's going to revise from 10am. There's just no point my worrying, is there?
