Agree that the Advanced info has been a disaster and just made things more stressful.

If AQA have given out the wrong info re circuits - do you think they will cut it from the mark scheme? Does a school need to complain or parents?

PaddingtonPaddington · 09/06/2022 17:17

According to DS OCR history was good and OCR physics triple higher was also good, although for one 5 mark question there was only 2 lines to write on?!

DS definitely a bit brighter after getting more done today and looking forward to only one tomorrow, AQA English language paper 2. 15 exams done, 9 to go…

Stormchaser1502 · 09/06/2022 17:18

Aqa triple higher here too. Same feedback. Advanced info not on there!

also told that physics a walk in the park compared to chemistry. She’s still having meltdowns over that chemistry exam!!

daffodilandtulip · 09/06/2022 17:19

What annoys me about the advanced info is people will forever say "oh you were that year who were told what was on your exams so you got your grades easier". When in actual fact, it was all messed up.

NameInUseAlreadyAgain · 09/06/2022 17:31

7 exams to go. Feel like we on the home straight now.

a night off because ‘you can’t revise for Eng Lang’ apparently

then a weekend for biology geography and maths. Then finally he gets to revise for his favorite subject food science which has been parked since the exams started.

When it should be the year that were thrown under a bus with the exams they should be remembered for

Joining late here, if I may. Physics AQA triple higher today. DS says the same. A couple of topics not to be assessed in this paper were there, some with high marks. The school checked the Advance Information meticulously and ensured that the kids fully understood what are major/minor topics, and which topics are not assessed. What a farce! At the moment, it is what the kids' claim, so I would be interested to know science teachers' response to this.

Yes I’d love to know science teachers take on it too.
it happened with chemistry too. (Aqa triple higher)

Womblesaremyfavouritefood · 09/06/2022 17:55

Yep - circuits! Not revised, and then appeared (although from what I can tell there wasn't a very big question on them?). DC thought it was generally OK, as was History. Chemistry has been by far the most awful so date.

Generally the advanced information has been reasonable for most subjects, but parts of the physics one was definitely inaccurate.

Notcontent · 09/06/2022 18:07

My dd did edexcel igcse physics and thought it wasn’t terrible but some of the topics she thought would be there were not. The advanced information was not at all helpful.

chocolatenutcase · 09/06/2022 18:12

Yep my DS told me about the electricity question that shouldn't have been on but only after I probed. His overall opinion of the paper was "it was easy" which makes me a little nervous!

Will be glad to get eng Lang out of the way tomorrow. 3 exams next week then 4 the week after.

@NameInUseAlreadyAgain my DS hasn't looked at Food either so that's going to be a cram but he loves it too. And his favourite - music which he wants to do at A level.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 09/06/2022 18:13

just asked DS and he is in agreement with the AQA Physics Higher comments but he thinks he has done ok.

Silkierabbit · 09/06/2022 18:19

DD back and said aqa physics higher paper included things not assessed in advanced info and the first time she has complained and she is really careful with checking and just checked again and said certain errors made. She said was a tough exam and nearly in tears, she needs an 8 but when I said can you still get that said yes. She thinks maths answers were right but she dropped some marks due to things saying not assesssed, circuits I think was one and a second one she did know about 7 out of 10 on despite saying not assessed. So stressful and wrong if it said not assessed though sounds like she is still ok and surely if there is an error they may need to do something. Fine now and onto the next, 11 to go here, 17 done. Ends 24th for us.

@LizzyButtons yes it is. It was in the advancede information.

Thank you! Just trying to get DS to practice again but as someone said earlier...he's wilting a bit tonight. DS seems to think Physics went well today.

StColumbofNavron · 09/06/2022 19:15

DS1 seems relaxed about today. The specific America topic he said 75% of the course covered didn't come up but that he was happy with the questions and sources. He is also a passionate historian and currently is still planning it for degree, but he has been careful to avoid an A Level courses that have opted for an America unit as he said he is done with that.

He said physics was ok, they had a formula sheet and it was just maths ('just maths' for me would still be bloody tricky tbh).

My son said the same about triple physics AQA ie the advance information was not helpful and misleading - he heard the same thing that they had mixed the advance info up. He thinks the exam was ok though. My other DS sat physics combined paper and found it really hard. Onto English lang tomorrow I will be really glad that this week will be over and no more doubles.

zighead · 09/06/2022 19:33

Sorry to hear some of the DC have had tough days. My DS thought his iGCSE Edexcel physics went well but it is one of his favourite subjects and he's planning on doing it for A-level.
He has nothing now until Wednesday next week when he unfortunately has two exams that day.
Good luck to all those with exams tomorrow!

moshpie · 09/06/2022 19:44

Can they revise for English language?

moshpie · 09/06/2022 19:44

Need a new thread!

cheninblanc · 09/06/2022 19:46

My daughter said physics today was like a maths paper with a formula sheet. She wrote every formula, her working out and answer. Fingers crossed for everyone
