Ealing, I was in west Ealing yesterday looking at a car to buy, since Dh sold mine on Mother's Day!

Oblomov21 · 17/03/2021 07:33

Love sandys co2 monitor. And yes that James mcavoy's accent.

ealingwestmum · 17/03/2021 08:52

Wow Ob, I am west! Was just watching us on BBC Breakfast too just, didn't want to bore this thread more about roads and driving, but Ealing is one of the higher profile areas hit with LTNs (low traffic neighbourhood) districts during pandemic. Zero consultation, just implemented with no thought.

On more positive news, 50+ now being called up for vaccine. Just booked online. For you more younger dudes, hang in there, it's moving quicker now...

ealingwestmum · 17/03/2021 08:53

How many times could I use JUST in one post?

ealingwestmum · 17/03/2021 08:59

I am also clearly having a senior moment day. I had just noticed my username. Having never changed it in 14 years, it's like not remembering your own tel number.

Anyone getting BTEC results today? DD waiting for PE and IT. Very little info from school regarding the results. We’ve had to find out the results day ourselves and no idea who is going to communicate them as IT teacher said he wasn’t allowed to know results until pupils told him and PE teacher had no idea when results were even due Confused

20newnames · 17/03/2021 09:15

@ealingwestmum I hadn't seen that over 50s were being called so thanks for that as I have just booked DH's jabs! Smile

ChristopherTracy · 17/03/2021 10:00

Is that Btec results for year 13s?

Directionerforever · 17/03/2021 10:07

No, Yr 12’s, taken in January, the ones the govt forgot about when they cancelled the exams and then just shrugged and said it was up to the school if they sat them or not.

Anyway DD got her results about half an hour ago with a distinction and merit in IT which she is over the moon about and a near pass in PE which is less impressive but she knows how and why she got that mark (1 mark away from a pass). Which actually makes it all so much easier to deal with for her than the GCSE’s where there was no rhyme or reason for what she was given. Anyway, she can resit PE so nothing lost and it’s good exam experience for her A-level subject also.

Zandathepanda · 17/03/2021 10:24

Directioner well done to your Dd, that’s some very useful points under her belt.

Directionerforever · 17/03/2021 10:33

Thank you 😊 it was so lovely to get that shout of excitement and joy when she got the email. As opposed to the disappointment of GCSE day. It’s given her real confidence that a distinction star is in reach for IT.

Monkey2001 · 17/03/2021 10:35

Great news @directionerforever ,!

Good luck booking jabs to the 50+, the vaccine roll out has been so impressive. We were promised over 50s by mid April, looks like they might manage it by end of March. We can all turn our dreams of a more normal life into reality!

ExponentiallyDepleted · 17/03/2021 11:04

That's great @Directionerforever. DS was supposed to be taking a BTEC exam this May, they still aren't sure what's happening.

Directionerforever · 17/03/2021 11:09

@ExponentiallyDepleted DD thinks that her PE resit will be May but no official word as yet. Hope you get some guidance soon.

ExponentiallyDepleted · 17/03/2021 11:14

Thanks, he tool some last Feb which should have had possible resits in May those obviously didn't happen (luckily he got the expected grades first time) but they were told that if needs be they could resit this academic year so it does all seem quite fluid.

ealingwestmum · 17/03/2021 11:58

Lovely news @Directionerforever. Well done to your DD!

orangecinnamon · 17/03/2021 15:57

Great news @Directionerforever Star StarStar

That's excellent news directioner.

I have had no jab side effects by the way!

Oblomov21 · 17/03/2021 18:29

Well done dd of Directionerforever

icanbewhatiwant · 17/03/2021 18:50

Listening to this evenings briefings it sounds like they won't be starting on under 50's for a while. They want to concentrate on second vaccines and persuading people who are eligible but not come forward to get theirs.

I did wonder if this would happen . Dh had his jab today and queued for 40 mins. A far cry from all the other stories of efficiency we have been told.

Great news Directiknerforever!

It was very efficient when we had our vaccine, we were so impressed and most people I know have had positive experiences. Guess it is goumg ti vary anfair bit from centre to centre.

We had report last week and have parents evening tonight. They are being encouraged to look at the virtual UCAS thing later this month and we have an info day from school next month. Don’t think DS in a place at the moment where he wants to think about it.

icanbewhatiwant · 18/03/2021 08:45

@orangecinnamon dh had his at out health centre and was all efficient and quick. It's annoying hearing friends are getting their vaccines when they are only a year older than me. I'm 49 tomorrow.

ExponentiallyDepleted · 18/03/2021 09:11

Reports of efficiency vary wildly here. DH had his on Sat, no queue, my friend had hers at the same centre on Sun, 45 min queue. I had mine at a different centre and it was very quick.

icanbewhatiwant · 18/03/2021 09:37

I found this on Facebook. I'm usually behind with most things. But thought I'd add in here incase anyone doesn't know. So ds's theory on 13th should go ahead. I'm not sure he will pass as he's not done a lot of actual driving. I'm sure it must be easier to pass if you are familiar with the roads.
