@Zandathepanda

Orange interesting. The ‘aggressive’ girls seem to have toned down this year. Dd got shoved about a bit in corridors after the boy incident by his girl ‘heavies’ (handily in front of cctv as they weren’t that clever) but some left and others have joined the sly toxic lot now. It’s very much social media led which Dd largely avoids. Dd said last weeks ‘thing’ was that boys were being told by the girl gang they ‘had’ to retweet messages of support for keeping girls safe otherwise they are part of the problem, whilst simultaneously being told they should keep their noses out as they don’t understand.
It makes me so annoyed ...I clearly remember similar stuff still happening in 6th form and wishing I'd left...somehow I thought they'd mature the summer after A levels Hmm

Just heard of another case in our year 12. Sigh.

KingscoteStaff · 21/03/2021 11:33

Oh Piggy no! Is that them out until the holidays, then?

Piggywaspushed · 21/03/2021 12:38

Yes, it will be. There is also a year 13, I just heard.

orangecinnamon · 21/03/2021 12:52

It seems never-ending 😕

We are now on tests at home. I helped ds3 do his (year 7) but Ds2 wouldn't do his because he doesn't have time in the morning. He wants to do it after school. I said I'd get everything ready but got shouted at.

KingscoteStaff · 22/03/2021 08:48

I walked blearily into the kitchen this morning to find DD and 4 of her friends doing it together on Teams!

Some very smart pyjamas!

Seeline · 22/03/2021 08:59

@icanbewhatiwant DD is doing her tests on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. It's the having the half hour wait for the result that causes problems! School said they would prefer the mornings, but understood that it wouldn't work for everyone. I can't see it would make that much difference.

Horace123 · 22/03/2021 09:01

Hi @sandybayley - do you mind if I message you? About school stuff but probably not interesting for everyone on the thread.

sandybayley · 22/03/2021 09:05

@Horace123 - that's fine. I think I can guess subject matter 😬

ExponentiallyDepleted · 22/03/2021 10:33

We all did the tests last night. Poor DS (dyspraxic) can barely aim the swab into his mouth let alone find his tonsils. Logging the results is a bit of a faff as well - DD's online account doesn't seem to work (perhaps she's too young) so I have to do it through mine inputting lots of details, then putting it on the schools forms.

FoolsAssassin · 22/03/2021 11:05

We had trouble last night logging the results. DH managed but DS and I didn’t.

icanbewhatiwant · 22/03/2021 11:46

@Seeline half hour was plenty of time for ds3 he is always ready to go before ds2 is even downstairs. Plus ds2 has to leave earlier.

As I've said before ds has his theory test booked just after Easter break. I've been nagging him for ages to get on the app and learn it. He just says no, not until nearer the time. I also said he has mock exams the same week. So best get the theory done early. He still said no. This morn he asked why I've booked the theory when he has exams that week. He said he can't be expected to revise for all of it and school is more important. I told him I didn't know he was going to have exams when I booked and explained this is exactly why I have been asking him to learn the theory. He just shrugged. I know he will spend the majority of the Easter break asleep 😡

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2021 13:53

Don't want to alarm anyone but we had 12 students test positive this weekend : all year 12 or 13. Huge numbers now SI! Some pinged by the app, some close contacts in schol.

It's carnage. We have about 70 students out.

ExponentiallyDepleted · 22/03/2021 13:56

Oh no Piggy, what a nightmare.

Zandathepanda · 22/03/2021 14:01

We have had Year13 out so Dd reckons Year12 is only a matter of time. There’s lots of ‘cross-contamination’ outside of school.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2021 14:03

It is a nightmare tbh : more out than in in my class that is about to arrive Sad

Seeline · 22/03/2021 14:06

Oh no Piggy ! Where about in the country are you? As far as DD is aware, no absences in her year yet.

Fferny1 · 22/03/2021 16:06

That's sounds disastrous @Piggy & @Zanda.Especially for the teachers that haven't been vaccinated yet. Are you in cities with higher base levels of infection?

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2021 16:12

Not to my knowledge! Not in a city at all : semi rural.

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2021 16:13

We have sent home our sixth form for the rest of the week now ...

Zandathepanda · 22/03/2021 16:35

Also semi-rural. A small % of Year12s are driving by now and obviously more Year 13s but not this year. So more unmasked car sharing going on with the ones that can drive.

Monkey2001 · 22/03/2021 16:43

Yikes, sounds like it is spreading faster than it has before. Maybe people are not being so careful due to Covid fatigue. With planned relaxation of rules from 31st March I can see this getting worse again. Groan!

EwwSprouts · 22/03/2021 16:44

Oh crikey Piggy that's not good at all. Thank goodness Easter holidays loom but will they properly SI so it flattens for return to school ?

Piggywaspushed · 22/03/2021 16:56

Hopefully Easter will help break the chain. Got to hope!
