Nervous about Secondary School allocations out this week!

Just another to thing to stress about but it's for my PFB so never been through it before. We find out on the 1st March, am being a silly stress head on here rather than in real life. Any one else? We are in the same postcode as the school we prefer, so it's a big deal if it goes wrong!

What time are the allocations emailed?

The council website says the evening of 1 March?

Anyone know what time evening normally is?

London is from 5pm if that helps

Write?
@ExiledinIslington, I’m sure this years local cohort is smaller than last years. I don’t think there was a bun fight for reception places for this years children. Good luck. Parli is lovely.

We got our email late. Close to 7pm I think it was. But it was showing on the eadmissons website from around 6pm I think it was. Each borough is slightly different I believe.

Anyone know what time Surrey tends to send out their emails?

Report
PatriciaHolm · 28/02/2021 21:55

Surrey are also part of London eAdmissions, so post 5pm.

Thank you! Was contemplating whether it was worth staying up but will try and get some sleep, though I'm fizzing with anticipation!

Although 99.9% sure ds will get first choice, still apprehensive in case of clerical error and whether his friends will join him. He will be fine without friends going, but more calming those first few days to see a familiar face, think the secondary usually try to put them with one other friend.

Hope you all get a school your child ends up enjoying and thriving in. The first child to go up always feels a bit scary, but mine have thrived at secondary.

I think typically they tend to send the emails out later to avoid the awkwardness at the school gates of some having got their results and some not. Gives people a chance to learn the results and process them overnight. So it's usually after 4pm, but I might be completely wrong about the reason!

I think where I am they load them online and send out the emails during the early hours. People stay up to check here. I can't bear the thought of the stress at bedtime if it isn't the result we want so I'm off to bed.

@mrscee

Me too, my twins are year 6 and the school they both want is the next street along so it's probably guaranteed but I'm still worried.

I've got twins waiting to find out tomorrow too. They already have a sibling in the school so should be ok but until its in writing I will still be nervous

Usually find out on the parent portal just after midnight here. I’m staying up - don’t think I could sleep even if I wanted to.

I am staying up too. I should be able to see at 12.30am.
If it's not the school dd wants it will give me time before she finds out x

I've been told by other parents it's an email after midnight here. I'll be surprised if dd1 doesn't get 1st choice grammar but I'm still a bit anxious

I'm definitely in the staying up camp too (just hope they haven't changed the time that they update it here!)

Starting to irrationally stress about our 3rd choice too. Out of the two realistic possibilities left, we had sound reasons for choosing it over the other and it was more of a 'banker' too as virtually guaranteed to get in. Lots of families seem to have picked the other one as 3rd choice though which is making me doubt myself. Nothing I can do about it now of course and really hoping for 1st or 2nd anyway. Brain won't shut up though. Need to find myself something constructive to do for next half hour or so I think.

Great news!
I have just checked ours and it says place offered but not where the place is!

I hope we get to know soon. The private ‘back up’ school was had is closing down later this year 😔

KitHenry · 01/03/2021 00:05

Well ours have come through. I’m in tears we got none of our preferences and have been given a place at a awful school where only about 40 have to go to each year and had just 2% of children get 5 GCSEs.

Hi
DD hasn't got first choice, but her friend 200 yards away has - it's 200 yards south and about 10 metres East, and school is East of us both.

I guess she must be near top of wait list. Anyone know approximately how much movement there is in city schools? Not London but I do know of 3 or 4 in her year who are going private (and I assume have applied for state places which they will then turn down?)

No sleep for me!

Fantastic @louisejxxx

We got our 2nd choice, which was the one DS really wanted and I'm very happy with too. So relieved. Hope everything goes well for everyone else too.
