Dear all,
I thought I would start a thread seeing that there isn’t one for North London. Looking for fellow anxious parents waiting for results on Friday or already on the roller coaster!
Waiting to hear from Highgate, NLCS, Channing, SHHS and Habs.
Join me if you fancy a chat or any kind of light relief while we wait!

Hi!
Thanks for starting the thread for North London. We are waiting anxiously too. The time has flown by and I can’t believe we are so close to finding out now. We are waiting on Francis Holland and South Hampstead. Hope you get the offer that you all want.

Justanothergirl19 · 10/02/2021 15:30

Hello!
Thank you for replying, I thought I would end up being all by myself!
The interview for SHHS seems so long ago, I find it almost impossible to imagine that DD would have got an offer, she was so much less savvy than in her last ones.
What is one supposed to do with oneself for the next 36hrs??

In our experience and speaking to others, the interviews at the start were the worst for nerves, but towards the end, the girls got used to it and were less nervous. Doing lots and lots of tidying has kept me busy and made the days fly by so far this week. Not sure how much sleep I’ll be getting on Thursday night though.

Justanothergirl19 · 10/02/2021 21:23

I go from manic tidying to hours of paralysis when I just scroll Instagram over and over again. DD thankfully holding it together better than I can. I can't stop imagining all the different possible outcomes and how I would communicate them to her. I know, to be fair, that I will probably just shout out whatever comes through as it comes through!
Bring on tomorrow as the last day. I am hoping to hear from at least some schools first thing on Friday.
Best of luck to you, which is your favourite school?
We are really hoping for NLCS.

Hello! Some for Highgate I was told that there were 800 applicants, 240 interviews for 75 places. Offers are generally double the number of places so approx 150. They are still doing exploding offers.

Channing, I am afraid I don’t know applicants or offers but the Headmistress said that they are not doing exploding offers this year and, for that reason, they will make less offers than usual for their 55 places.

SHHS I stupidly deleted that information after the open day but maybe someone else knows?

Best of luck, which is your favourite?

So, not some..

At the moment, it’s evenly balanced between the two, so it doesn’t help us, if we get offers at both. She is on the quieter side, so I wonder if Frances Holland would suit her better, but she comes alive in sports, so SHHS would also be a great fit. In terms of location, SHHS is better. Not long to go!

Justanothergirl19 · 11/02/2021 14:37

If you get offers from both (which I hope you do), I would always go for the nearest or most convenient school. I have heard great things about SHHS.
For us, it’s just too out of the way but we were tempted by the one ISEB test.

Hi guys, my daughter is also waiting for North London independent school results. She has already been offered Queenswood and St John's. Queenswood appears to have the most amazing facilities and have only heard good things about it, but was never keen on an all-girls school and (most importantly) it's so eye-wateringly expensive!

Good luck to everyone. The wait has been horrendous. I hope that if you are offered your first choice that you accept and reject the others as soon as you can.

Justanothergirl19 · 11/02/2021 18:05

Eiffel, I loved SHHS and wished we were closer to it so I don’t blame you.
We will accept/release offers tomorrow if we get our number 1, nothing to decide really and I wouldn’t with this anxiety on anyone.
If we get an offer from SHHS as well as NLCS, we will release it straight away and let you know since it looks like it’s a favourite for many. Hopefully, you won’t need the space though as you will have your own good news!
I am tempted to go to bed soon. I haven’t eaten this much since Christmas!

Morning all, first rejection from SHHS at 8.30. It wasn’t our favourite choice but still feels awful. I hope you had better luck and are now celebrating. X

Thankgoditsover · 12/02/2021 10:41

Sorry to hear that, it's so awful, I'm still a bit scarred. I could never talk about it IRL as most of primary school just going to local school (and doing very well there now!). It feels like an awful thing to choose to do to one's child.

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 10:59

Thank you. Thankfully, we now have offers from Channing, Highgate and STAHS so I have massively perked up!
How is everyone else doing?

Me too! My dd is now in year 10 and it was a happy ending but it was massively stressful. She was also from a state primary. I remember getting a rejection from one hard to get school (it was in January I think) and sitting there crying...

Good luck everyone! It will be ok.

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 13:10

We got out offer from NLCS! So happy. Good luck everyone x

Justanothergirl, fantastic news, they kept you waiting! We got offers from both schools, very surprised and happy. Wishing everyone luck in their decisions.

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 13:32

Congratulations @Americanhoney, so happy for you!

Thankgoditsover · 12/02/2021 13:32

Ha @Justanothergirl19 you have no need of my sympathy! Well done your DD and what a relief. Go for whichever is nearest to you (though I think Highgate is great).

@Americanhoney I like both those schools but DDs go to SHHS and it has exceeded our expectations. Much gentler than we had expected.

Amazing news to all. Congratulations!

DD is on WL at Channing (our first choice) so please help out in releasing the places asap at schools you won't be taking to enable waiting lists to move!

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 14:09

Congratulations @EITEL, that’s great! DD2 is also doing her 11+ this year (for sept 22 entry), I can scarcely believe it.
I honestly didn’t think we would end up with so many offers. Feel happy but also strangely sad about turning down some of them.
