Dear all,
I thought I would start a thread seeing that there isn’t one for North London. Looking for fellow anxious parents waiting for results on Friday or already on the roller coaster!
Waiting to hear from Highgate, NLCS, Channing, SHHS and Habs.
Join me if you fancy a chat or any kind of light relief while we wait!
@adoptedlondoner, we will release Channing later today.
Thank you @EITEL

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 15:29

Same here, I predict quite a bit of movement, I know of several people who will do the same.
I hope you get your place soon 😊

Thanks @Justanothergirl19

Fingers crossed Smile

Hello fellow North Londoners and congratulations for those who got their offers today! We got offers from SHHS and Channing. Tough decision, really, so very keen on hearing the considerations. Our daughter is not very sporty, but she is very much into drama and signing. I see both are strong in these disciplines. She is bright and I hear SHHS is gentle enough and not necessarily a hot house. DD has a slight preference for Channing but only because she physically visited back in September 2019, but we only had a virtual tour of SHHS, so it is harder for her to relate. I loved all the extra clubs, etc.

Any vision on the GCSE choices - seems they are largely similar.

We are less concerned with distance and travel as we are renting now and will be probably buying within reasonable travel distance of either school.

Rrelaxo · 12/02/2021 17:42

Also a question: does SHHS guarantee a place until 3rd March or do they do exploding offers this year? We really want to attend their virtual event on 22nd Feb.

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 17:44

Both SHHS and Channing (from this year) are guaranteeing their offers until deadline day.

thank you! i think if we physically visited SHHS (which i am learning more towards on the basis of all feedback received), it would have been easier to decide. We won't wait till the last day for all on the WL and will try to decide asap not to have other families wait impatiently!

Americanhoney · 12/02/2021 17:48

The SHHS offer letter (not in the email offer) says they will honour all offers until their closing date.

MajesticWhine · 12/02/2021 19:53

We need to decide between Channing and Francis Holland (Regent's Park). FH is an easier journey for DD. DD hasn't been able to visit the schools so she doesn't have a clue.

lulufy · 12/02/2021 19:55

Anyone got the letter from Highgate? Not the email. We got the email but still waiting for the post. Can't believe they still make the exploding offers. I am scared...

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 20:45

Hi, yes we received the letter in the post this morning. Just a paper copy of the email, a bunch of forms and a card for DD.

Londongirl2021 · 12/02/2021 21:16

How about HABS? does HABS guarantee a place until 3rd March or do they do exploding offers this year?

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 22:00

Habs also guarantees. Only Highgate and CLSG are currently doing exploding offers.

Londongirl2021 · 12/02/2021 22:22

@Justanothergirl19 Thanks so much. Anyone have received the offer letter in post?

Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 22:29

No, the email said it was posted today so I am expecting it tomorrow but possibly Monday x

Ah, I stand corrected. I really shouldn’t comment on things I don’t know about! Makes Highgate really stand out, doesn’t it? Channing also not doing exploding offers anymore.

OP posts:
Justanothergirl19 · 12/02/2021 22:56

@MumsRule20 our posts crossed - as I said, I was only going from memory from previous years, I don’t actually know from personal experience. You obviously do.

Yes, I figured upthread! Well, that’s great, the whole concept is really stressful.

Joining you all if I may. Undecided between shhs, habs, nlcs, Channing, clsg. Will likely turn down clsg. Finding it hard to decide between the others. Hopefully the offer holders events etc will help. Just wish we could visit again in person. Will do some driving round over the half term and checking out the buildings and the immediate areas etc

Shery82 · 17/02/2021 09:39

@MajesticWhine
My daughter got the same Francis Holland and changing
We are WL south Hampstead
Any feedback about FH and Channing
We need to make a decision ASAP
Thanks

MumsRule20 · 17/02/2021 11:21

@Shery82 be good to know specifically what sort of feedback were you after? Did you visit the schools at any point or just do the virtual events? What were your reasons for choosing both schools? What are your child’s strengths? Is location important consideration? What do you and your DD like about both? A bit more details on what feedback may help encourage some answers to help in your decision making process.

We have only visited FHRP and SHHS of the two you are considering. But did the Channing virtual...
