Hey parents, my DD has a sport scholarship event with Tormead this weekend, just wondering if the school will send out the results for everyone at once (scholarship or not) or if they are posted separately? Sorry, new to the system, just trying to work out how long the 'long wait' will be! Thanks ;-)

Pre-pandemic, there was always a New Girls' afternoon in about the third week of June (at which there was also an opportunity for parents to buy second-hand uniform pre pick-up). I'm afraid that I don't know if that will be running this year and, if so, what format it might take.

Maybe give the school a call but I would leave it for a week or so as they are currently running the Covid testing programme ahead of the big return to school on Monday (with a further two tests for all age groups next week on top of teaching) so I fully expect them to have their hands full with that at the moment.

Hi @VMM2603, congrats to your daughter! We're at TM in the Juniors, it's a lovely school, so I hope your daughter will enjoy all her years there! Like the PP said, they have always run something to make sure the girls are comfortable and confident on their first day. During the pandemic, since September, the school has done loads of really clever things to keep up all the 'traditions' and events we do each year, so i'm sure they will come up with something. The girls are kind and friendly and my DD has a couple of mates in year 6 (soon to be year 7 with your daughter!) and they're a great bunch of young women.

Hi All, sorry to resurrect a old thread, however after reading last year's posts, I might as well ask my question on the end.

Has anyone else applied for 11+ at Tormead this year? We've moved back to the UK from Hong Kong and have applied for it alongside 2 other Surrey independents. Does anyone know how many places they make available each year and what the number of applicants per place is? DD has her online interview tomorrow and having never done this before, i'm way more nervous about these senior school processes than her! She really loved it, and i'm torn between here and another.... does the UK independent system always feel so secret squirrel?! Confused Thanks in advance. Smile

@fartoomanychoices , just some general info from a Surrey parent. All the schools make around 3 offers per place and Tormead will make at least that number. If your dd doesn't get a place then she may get a waiting list place and waiting lists move from March up until the start of term in September. It's best to try and not make decisions about accepting offers until you have all the offers in front of you which is only a few weeks away.
It's helpful to remember that most of the dd sitting Tormead are also sitting many other local schools from Notre Dame to Putney High and everywhere in between and some will be aiming for Guildford high and St Cats Bramley as well as all the local mixed private schools. As Guildford is on a train line Tormead is very accessible but some choose a school closer to home (ie nearer to London) in the end hence the "decline" rate.

@fartoomanychoices , also best of luck to your dd tomorrow. I have friends with dd at Tormead and it's a very good school.

Hi @fartoomanychoices, I agree with the PP, there's no point trying to guess anything until the fat lady sings. I know many parents and DCs will have their favourite school and will be apprehensive right about now, but you can't make any choices until the offers are in. On the tormead front, I agree with the pp, tormead will probably offer at a ratio of 3 offers to each place. It will all depend on how many places Tormead has available, as their prep school also feeds their senior school, so if their year 6 is large, there will be less places for externals at 11+. Its all a bit of a chess game. I recommend you send your DD big positive vibes for tomorrow and then await the next step when the offers are sent out. I'm sure tou DD will do well at the other schools too.
I also agree with PP, tormead is a great school so your apprehension is not misplaced!
