@corriebob I agree and I also know first hand (perhaps like you?) what it's been like at the sharp end of education during this pandemic.
However, like every crisis, it exposes good leaders and weak performers.
In March last year, we saw the writing on the wall and tried really hard at our school to be outstanding at every step. Fundamentally prep schools run financially, pretty tight ships and dropping the ball wasn't an option. We pulled it off, did well and parent feedback has been great.... plus super motivating for the staff who have beeb outstanding. People talk, word spreads and (unlike some of our competitors) thankfully our future enrolment looks to be sound.
My point is (and this isn't singling out any school) that some establishments have done very well and some have not. They were all dealt the same set of cards (obviously not comparing between state and indi here) and the decisions (or lack thereof) are testament to that school's leadership, staff and governors.
When picking a school, any school, one should look at all the fundamentals, from results, to facilities, to location, to fees, or indeed to how one 'feels'......but they must always look at how the school is run too and nothing but a good old fashioned pandemic will shine light on that.
So yes, I agree with you, but one must take the whole picture.
