@0DimSumMum0 so glad to hear good news! I remember talking to you when us international centers didn't know if we were sitting the exams or not. Smile

mummabear74 · 11/08/2020 11:08

It's lovely to hear of good results today. Congratulations!

ProggyMat · 11/08/2020 11:14

Congratulations to all with results today Star
I’ve switched off from the speculation surrounding the 20th.
Having said that, I wouldn’t mind parking my bum on a bar stool in a virtual pub on the evening of the 19th
If anyone is up for an all-nighter ? Grin

desertcoffeeyoga · 11/08/2020 11:18

Yes! Up for an all nighter on 19th ! DD is stress baking ... the silver lining to this cloud... but seriously .. what a mess - not a great example to the young people of the grown ups sorting it out...

desertcoffeeyoga · 11/08/2020 11:28

@0DimSumMum0 brilliant news!! Remember all the stress of the igcses not being postponed at the same time as the UK ones.. so very pleased you got a happy ending ..

desertcoffeeyoga · 11/08/2020 11:33

Great news @JMG1234! Your good news will keep us buoyed for another week !

RedskyAtnight · 11/08/2020 11:38

Fantastic well done to those getting results today!

RedskyAtnight · 11/08/2020 11:42

Just seen that Nandos are offering "free food with results" ... in September.

crazycrofter · 11/08/2020 11:55

Well done to those who've got some results already!

@RedskyAtnight I'm not even sure they're giving it away in September - I think that might just be when their next announcement is due!

Devlesko · 11/08/2020 13:00

Hi, not after more congratulations Grin just thought I'd join this group now it looks like some results are coming in.
Anyone seen teen and twenty? about recently?

FoolsAssassin · 11/08/2020 13:30

Congratulations to those with results and thanks so much for posting, very encouraging.

A big thank you to OrangeCinnamon for starting this thread back in year 10. It does indeed look like we need a new one, would you like to start the next one - feels fitting for you to do the final GCSE one. One worries if you would rather not.

I’d like to echo Oblomov , thank you all for being here along the way. Whoever would have thought this would happen. Looking forward to the next chapter with you all whether that be 6th form, College or apprenticeship.

Save me a seat for 19th please Proggy!!!

TeenAndTwenties has definitely been regularly posting on other threads in Secondary Education. If memory serves correctly she had a daughter in Year 10, rather than Year 11, so not sure she still reads this thread.

I am currently using avoidance tactics by trying to pretend that nothing of note is happening on the 20th. Not very successfully

EasilyDelighted · 11/08/2020 14:11

I've posted intermittently on these threads for the last couple of years (various names) but not kept up. It's good to be able to drop in at times. Especially now! We have bought the smart casual clothes for 6th form, worked out transport arrangements, kept a bit of work ticking over but the tension is ramping right up now.

sandybayley · 11/08/2020 14:49

We got a lovely suit from Mango at the weekend. Shirts from TM Lewin (who have got into administration) and jumpers from Uniqlo. DD was fretting about not having it all ready but good to go now! Even got some nice brogues with a slight heel.

I'd post a picture but can't. I am very pleased as she looks great in it all. So grown up.

Conversation in the RedSky household

(Me) - you have remembered you need pretty much a whole new wardrobe for sixth form? I'm very happy to go shopping with you, or you can go shopping by yourself, or you can just order stuff online, but you'll need to pick something you're happy to wear.

(DS) -

(Me) - I know it seems like you have ages but remember you can't try things on in shops and it's likely that at least some of things you buy won't fit so you need to allow time to send them back and get more things

(DS) -

(Me) - I'll leave it with you then shall I?

(DS) - chill fam

(Me)

Am I the only one whose DC is dragging their heels about getting new clothes? I am genuinely worried he will have nothing to wear in September (or nothing that satisfies the smart-casual dress code).

Shimy · 11/08/2020 15:04

@OrangeCinnamon1

Good point *@aibuquestions* we do have to remember that the obes who post are the ones most likely to be upset.
No no no! The ones who post are brave, the rest of us are quaking in fear behind our screens & reading 😣.
ealingwestmum · 11/08/2020 15:05

Lovely to hear from those ‘sitting’ CIE exams; congratulations to your DC! Only have one subject here so won’t hear outcome until next week with the rest.

Devlesko · 11/08/2020 15:06

Redsky

Thank you, I'll keep a lookout on other threads.

Ha Ha I forgot there was a result today and was pleasantly surprised. I have the 20th in my mind, even though I'd like to forget Grin

Shimy · 11/08/2020 15:08

@Oblomov20

Btw I've just realised that I've been here since the very beginning, since thread 1. And what an extremely pleasurable 'ride' it been over the last 2 years, with you very lovely ladies.

Informative, knowledgeable, supportive, no-nonsense and straight talking. No nastiness, no scorn over the brightest, nor the struggling. Nothing.

We commiserate each other when things go wrong. Congratulate and celebrate each other if any dc achieves anything nice, from a music exam to DoE.

We always welcomed newbies, and told them how nice it was here, (compared to some bloody MN threads which are just vile) but I don't think some appreciated how nice it is!

What a pleasure. Thank you all.

I concur with everything @oblomov said. It’s shame we will disperse soon into Btecs, A’levels, work etc but hoping I meet some of you on the next A’levels thread.
Shimy · 11/08/2020 15:11

GcongratulTions to @0DimSumMum0 & @JMG1234 FABOLOS news!Grin.

DS had nothing. DH dragged DS to Next, held a few polo shirts up to guess at size and bought a load to try on at home which were fine. Trousers were tricky, DH ordered online but DS is a tricky size so they all had to go back. I then spent quite a bit of time with size guides and trying to match for DS's preferences, ordered three sizes of one type, kept the best, ordered another pair to pick up as I dropped the other two back for return. He already had a suit for formal occasions, will need it about once a term. All this was under threat of him having to wear his old uniform trousers if he didn't co-operate as everything else he owns is banned (joggers, ripped jeans).

DD (y10) is in "yeah, whatever" mode about trying hers on to see if it still fits. Fingers crossed.
