What, if any, 'face to face support' will your school be offering for years 10 and 12?

I have one child in year 10, one in year 12. Both schools have said they will offer them one day each, in total, before the summer.

Other local schools are talking about running full school days tues-fri.

Just interested in what everyone else is experiencing?

One day a week from 15th June in a class of 8.

I thought the 1/4 referred to all pupils which meant all Year 10 and Year 12?
To be honest my Year 12 kids don't want to go back to school - they have enjoyed self study more than classes...they are begging me not to make them get back into their business suits to go to school. It will take some adjusting...they will go back though for whatever is offered.

No definitely 1/4 of each year group.

I have both Y10 and Y12 sons. Not sure I understand the F2F bit; surely they can do this via Teams or whatever other online system exists. Would be more efficient this way, and safer.

I am not in principle against a return to school; I just don't think the government have provided any reassurance. I am keen for boys to stay at home, as they are using videos/podcasts to learn new content; and using past exam papers/mark schemes to assess their progress. In some ways, we are better off wfh than going to school

This is precisely my thinking. I guess they are hoping we will capture the hearts and minds of some of the ones falling by the wayside...

A friend is a year 12 maths teacher. They have been asked to do a single one hour face to face session with each student in their classes.

Blubell46 · 26/05/2020 15:55

That must be really hard for the teachers but for my ds who is in year 10 that would be lovely to have that option for any subjects he is finding a bit tricky.

For me the big worry for DS2 is Eng Lang and Eng Lit...........especially the AQA Sec B writing part in Eng Lang

Really interesting to see the variation in approaches.

Has the secondary guidance people are referring to been published now?

Got an email from both my children's school stating it will be published on the 28th May

My y10 dd has been working non-stop through online tasks. She is perfectly happy with the work / communication and isn't keen on going in yet. Neither am I, so rather than add to the risk for the teachers / pupils, she won't be going in until September.

Yes pumpkin, true to form, on a Bank Holiday during Cummings' confessional.
