Graveney School - selective offers 2020

kisel1 · 05/03/2020 12:01

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can share their experiences on how waiting list moves for Graveney selective intake?

DD is 14th on it at the moment, and her WT score is 2 points lower than what was needed to receive an offer on 2nd Mar (251 vs 253).

Would be great to know what to expect in the coming weeks and evaluate our chances.

Thank you!

www.wandsworth.gov.uk/media/5809/information_about_previous_years_year_six_test_scores.pdf

Based on previous years you should expect to get a place before school starts

MagicMM · 05/03/2020 16:56

This link is good. Do you know if we can find similar for Sutton Borough.

AveEldon · 05/03/2020 19:02

For Sutton you need to look on the individual school websites - here is one of them www.nonsuchschool.org/uploads/asset_file/3_1156_cut-off-scores.pdf

MagicMM · 05/03/2020 21:37

AveEldon, thank you! I will have a look, but it seems that you are an expert. Please please could you have a look if this exist for greenshaw and wallington boys. If similar exist for waiting list, for instance furthest number in the waiting list offered a place, cause they do not share what is our result when you pass. Only pass mark I know for the schools but not DS score.
Great stuff. This overconfidentiallity is so wrong and unfair to us 🤷‍♀️🤔

MagicMM · 05/03/2020 21:57

Couldn't find the cut-off scores in greenshaw or wallington county grammar.

Can't find anything for Greenshaw sorry

MagicMM · 06/03/2020 10:59

you are amazing. Thank you so much.

Shall we ask directly Greenshaw - if other schools share that information they should do as well or??? don't know what to do.

my head is spinning...

I opened the link and read and I am stunned - how people know their kids score and what tables by postcodes they mention???
When you pass they do not tell you anything and now the best that I can expect is to tell me on what place I am on the WL but not what score my DS got. Please could you put more light on that information - where to register. they said whatdotheyknow.com
Shall I register there? by search on whatdotheyknow.com can't find anything that they mention in the 11plus...thread that you have sent me.
Sorry I can't stop asking more and more...I want to know..hahah
can't wait till waiting lists are revealed and it will not be clear just will put us on hold and even more anxious . Also want to take a decision to start an appeal and what chances I have got for selective places.

Also how this happens -
Last year:
218.5 threshold
School place given on offer day, the lowest mark 216.22 [September]
[information as per website whatdotheyknow.com]

kids with score less than 218.5 have not put Wallington grammar in their CAF list. How they offered a place to a kid with a score below 218.5???? that's ridiculous.

QuarterMileAtATime · 06/03/2020 11:10

Because that poster has the numbers wrong. Last year's pass mark was not 218.5 - it was 216, from memory. So he has used this year's cutoff mark but last year's lowest qualifying score (in September not offer day).

Ihave all the original sources so you can look at the data. I also have spreadsheets of the boys' scores (this year) by postcode and birth month.

Just going out but I will PM you later.

QuarterMileAtATime · 06/03/2020 11:23

To be clear, the only way you will KNOW your DS's score is if it is the only one with his birth month in your postcode (first 3 letters).
It will be easier to determine it now because you will be looking at scores above 218.5 but below 226 (a sensible estimate for an offer day minimum score).
The schools decided to retract the spreadsheets from the public domain, which I think should be respected, but I am happy to look for you if you would like.

MagicMM · 06/03/2020 11:57

yes his numbers were wrong, so maybe cut-off was 216 and 216.22 was given a place which is very big movement on the waiting list.

Thank you so much QuarterMileAtATime. I will message you.
I have registered in www.whatdotheyknow.com and found out how I can ask a particular school.
Do you have the tables through this website?
Are these for all the kids that sit SET..anyway..thanks..will contact you.

Hi @KillingEvenings Is there another number after SE2?

MagicMM · 06/03/2020 15:49

I am new to mumsnet.

@QuarterMileAtATime -
how to send you personal message and not to add it to the thread here?

QuarterMileAtATime · 06/03/2020 15:57

I'm not sure if you can through the app, but on the website you should be able to click on ... on my message on the thread and 'pm' should be an option.
I have sent you a message so you can just respond to that if you find it in your inbox under account (also on website).

MagicMM · 06/03/2020 16:05

I have found out, thanks

Toomanycats99 · 06/03/2020 16:13

Greenshaw will give you waiting list place but I am not sure if I got that after first or second round offers but it took me ages to find out!

MagicMM · 06/03/2020 17:55

Ok, yes they will tell, but usually very limited info and keep you anxious till the very end. I do not like these secrets that they keep from parents... 🤷‍♀️🤔 There should be information populated to all but with codes so still confidentiallity will be considered...

KillingEvenings · 06/03/2020 18:21

@QuarterMileAtATime -- yes, 7! Thanks!!

QuarterMileAtATime · 07/03/2020 10:11

I sent a pm last night @KillingEvenings Smile

KillingEvenings · 07/03/2020 12:59

Thanks so much quarter. That's really good to know.

kisel1 · 06/04/2020 14:06

With today's update our position on Graveney list moved to 7th (for the first time since the list was uploaded; understandably, things are moving quite a bit slower this year most probably)

The above discussion went off topic a little, if anyone can still share their experiences on what initial waiting list positions still allowed their DDs and DSs to get into Graveney in the past and at what stage - that would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi @kisel1, I'm not sure what number my friend's DC was on the waiting list, but they were offered a place two weeks into the first term. They turned it down as their DC was happy at their second choice school.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 06/04/2020 15:31

You may find this year though that many children who would otherwise have gone to private schools (but whose parents have lost their jobs/taken pay cuts due to COVID-19_) stay in the state sector. I would suspect this is going to impact on all very sought after state schools in an unprecedented way.

kisel1 · 09/04/2020 15:29

Thanks all! Very likely the Covid19 situation will have an impact, of course. The waiting lists seem to have been updated today again, but no movements for us, let's hope it's not it.
