As the Tiffin deadline looms, is there a girls SW London grammars / indies thread yet?

I just realised that I need to get the Tiffin Girls form in ASAP, and wondered if anyone else is in the same position? I could do with company in this process!

We’re not yet decided but probably applying to Tiffin, WHS, SPGS, Sutton High and maybe one of PHS / Emanuel / KGS.

1ndig0 I think some of the North London schools do co-ordinate dates, but of the ones we’ve applied for we’ve already had Sutton High (in December), and WHS will post on 6 February, so it’s a real mixture of dates for results letters.

Good luck for tomorrow then Flume. I know what you mean, it’s all about managing expectations and the waiting! Once they’re in their next school though, they don’t look back.

Colorbomb · 15/01/2019 16:00

The interview emails were individually sent because each had a time and date for each individual candidate. I can’t predict what will happen this year though! I remember once I read that Eton emailed everyone they had a place (even those that didn’t) which was rather embarrassing and upsetting - so I believe schools are super careful about what they send.
I also think an exceptional performance across the board is definitely not necessary to be asked for interview.
Good luck to girls waiting for all schools Smile

Anyone heard from SPGS yet?

Dd got an SPGS interview!

Congrats Flume! Star DD also got an interview. What a wait that was!

I’m told it's now 180 interviewed for 100-105 places, plus about 10 on w/l.

So much better odds than LU where they interview over 400 for 120 places.

Can anyone confirm this with previous experience.

Anyway, today I’m just delighted she got this far! Wine

KaliforniaDreamz · 16/01/2019 16:06

well done!! clever girls x

TheExtraGuineaPig · 16/01/2019 16:13

Well done both!! That's excellent 😊

Sweetnhappy1 · 16/01/2019 16:28

Fantastic! Amazing achievement for your girls! Well done to them!

Jimjam68 · 16/01/2019 16:36

Congrats on the SPGS success, that’s brilliant and a great encouragement not to lose hope when they don’t finish the exam paper!

Sweetnhappy1 · 16/01/2019 16:48

Jimjam68, good point re: not finishing. My DD was unable to finish the maths paper at PHS and felt a bit deflated...

Jimjam68 · 16/01/2019 17:06

Same here with the PHS maths paper so I was feeling quite negative about the likely outcome,

Sweetnhappy1 · 16/01/2019 17:23

With that at PHS and being totally unable to judge how WHS went it's all up in the air. Waiting game now.

1ndig0 · 16/01/2019 17:31

Thankyou and the very best of luck to all your girls too. No, it seems you obviously don’t have to finish the maths papers! For some schools, like PHS, there is no separate scholarship paper. so I guess it makes sense they would put some more challenging questions towards the end.

KaliforniaDreamz · 16/01/2019 17:36

My DD didn't finish the bloody personal bit on the Surbiton paper.

got to laugh.

Greenleave · 16/01/2019 17:53

we are invited back too however the numbers invited back must be alot more as everyone I know was.

1ndig0 · 16/01/2019 18:29

Well done to your DD and all the people you know Greenleave!

I know someone who has a DD at SPGS who told me they interview about 180. Also, there was something on 11 plus forum about it (people talking about last year). So fingers crossed!

Greenleave · 16/01/2019 18:54

1ndig0, thank you and weldone to yours and FlumePlume too(anyway I only know 5 others).
I found the invitation letter was cold however informative, not too sure why(we only have CLSG letter so not many to compare however finding it much warmer).

FlumePlume · 16/01/2019 20:30

Thanks! And congratulations to your dds, Greenleave and 1ndig0.

I’m really surprised that you know of five others who got interviews, Greenleave. We don’t know anyone else who applied, certainly not from school and not even anyone from any of dd’s activities.

Your view of CLSG could well change a bit when suddenly you are under massive pressure to accept the offer for fear it will explode if you don’t...

Greenleave · 16/01/2019 20:54

I found it odd(however in a good way) too, the children dont go to the same school.
I was least impressed with CLSG the last couple of years’ exploded offer, sitting for CLSG was her choice as our very close friends send their children there.

1ndig0 · 17/01/2019 08:45

By “exploding offer,” do you mean this school retract offers if you don’t take them quickly enough?

TheExtraGuineaPig · 17/01/2019 08:57

Morning all!

Today is the day LEH "issue their offer letters" .. I guess that means posting today, just checking in case it is likely to be emails?

TheExtraGuineaPig · 17/01/2019 09:01

Sorry, I meant interview letters aretoday for LEH, not offers.

Colorbomb · 17/01/2019 09:13

Yes 1ndig0, there was a lot about CLSG’s approach on MN these past few years.
