Larlaland the matter is complicated by the fact the school don't pay for reviews and DH certainly won't pay, DS has said he is happy to pay and I have told DS he should do what he feels he wants to do and not to be influenced by anyone else, I have also said I would pay for one of them......it's just that DH's reaction has made the whole thing very unpleasant.

Sorry to detail the thread but...

I'VE GOT A JOB!!!!!!!

Have had 2 interviews at a medical practice. Didn't get the first job but they recommended me for another, interviewed last Thurs and HR woman just rang to offer me it!! It's clinical coding, which is totally new to me. I got the hours I asked for, it's more than min wage, and will be my first 'proper' job since 2003. Start next week GrinGrin Never mind the kids, what am I going to wear???!!

Wow Terf, that’s brilliant news! You’ll have to buy posh shoes and a packed lunch box!

sandybayley · 04/09/2018 13:31

@TerfTerf2 - congratulations! You definitely need a new outfit to celebrate. New shoes at the very least!

Very similar supportive vibe to this thread. Gettintrimmer is already there.

LimitIsUp · 04/09/2018 15:41

capturing the mood

Cherryburn · 04/09/2018 15:45

Congrats terf, excellent news.

Bluebelle is your DH’s objection to the remark about the money? Or is it something else?

ShalomJackie · 04/09/2018 15:46

Back from 1st day (short induction day). Timetables, admin, bonding sessions and Alice Heim Cognitive Testing!!! That's a new one on me! Anyone know anything about that?

Terfterf - congrats on the job

Review/remark of DS's RS where je was one mark off stayed the same

eaglefly · 04/09/2018 16:05

Did anybody do any reviews for the Cambridge board and how did it go? We are considering doing a remark for one paper but needs as much to go up as would take to go down a grade. Not sure if worth the risk. Although it seems like such an anomaly paper.

BlueBelle123 · 04/09/2018 16:31

Cherryburn no its not about the money, its because DS already has 8's so DH can't see the point(putting it mildly!) However, DS has discussed his Englsh Language mark with his teacher who backs a review of paper 2 and in respect of PE there is a 30% difference between his two papers and he felt they both went well ......but neither are A level choices.....

Cherryburn · 04/09/2018 16:38

But surely he should get the grade he achieved? So if the mark goes up then he deserves a 9. If it doesn’t he stays on 8. Sorry, not arguing with you Bluebelle, I’m just struggling to see your DH’s logic.

Oratory1 · 04/09/2018 16:59

Well done reed that’s great news.

I have some discomfort with schools that routinely put in all papers within x % of the boundary and can afford to do so. Somebodies got to be at the border and it must create so much additional work for schools and exam boards when their focus should be in getting the marking as good as possible in the first place - so sort of see where bluebelle she is coming from. On the other hand if it’s an anomalous paper or the next grade up would make a difference to you then you have nothing to lose so can see the attraction and we put one in ourselves. Agree too it should be ds choice.

I think only a fairly small proportion actually change.

Oratory1 · 04/09/2018 17:00

That should obviously be well done Terf !

Oratory1 · 04/09/2018 17:02

It’s amazing what some academic success and the prospect of chosen subjects can do - DS is like an excited puppy or a toddler waiting for first day at reception. Never knew a 16 year old dyslexic boy could be so excited about going to school 😂😂

Oratory1 · 04/09/2018 17:03

I’m savouring it while it lasts as it could all change when the reality of A levels and early mornings kick in
