Does your DS’s performance start at 9am-that is early!

My DB got his results the day of his 16th
Birthdays-I feel for you, Tzara!

Aragog · 22/08/2018 11:48

What do I wish for tomorrow? I wish my ... gets the rewards for all her hard work and efforts. ....No matter what grades are achieved the effort and work put in makes her a winner.

Wise wise words, and exactly how I feel about tomorrow. I'm nervous. Way more than I ever was about my own. There's so much pressure on kids these days over exams.

DD is avoiding all conversations about it. She's not a straight As child, like several of her school friends are, but she has worked so hard - I just hope that is reflected in her grades. But I'm realistic too - anyone can have a bad day, a bad question, or a blip, often through no fault of their own.

We've already celebrated and praised ourselves - we have actively praised and rewarded effort in advance. The results are hers, and I hope they mean she gets to do what she wants next.

This time tomorrow, the waiting will be over at least.

My turn to step away from this thread till later this evening.

LooseAtTheSeams · 22/08/2018 12:05

Brainmelt that is good news!Smile
DS has to go in person. He better get up in the morning! Mainly because I want to know what he's got before I go into work - not at some random point in the day when we're busy enrolling new students!!

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 12:18

Thats good news Brainmelt.

I think DD and I will go out to either to the cinema or for a meal tonight ...we have not spent that much time together because of NCS and prior to that she was away with her DF.

Sostenueto · 22/08/2018 12:31

I am giving my dgd her congrats card today rather than tomorrow because its a card celebrating her effort and bravery in sitting so many exams no matter what result may be.
Surprise meal all sorted going to be a great party tomorrow us parents and grandparents will make sure all 5 friends will have a wail of a time! (None know about surprise!)

TerfTerf2 · 22/08/2018 12:44

I'm going out tonight too! With two girlfriends to see Christopher Robin. None of our six kids (aged12-16) wanted to see it Grin

Tomorrow will be business as usual I think. I certainly won't be posting grades online (well, maybe here!) and DS will just want to move on. Fingers crossed there won't be any need for reviews/remarks, I have no idea how the school does that stuff... badly, if the rest of their admin is anything to go by I doubt he's mature enough for sixth form at the moment - after a childish argument with sibling about roast potatoes v chips and who gets their own way the mostGrinGrin

Out for fancy dinner on Sunday night in London and a couple of days away too.

On the job front - I have a job shadowing appointment for Friday for the inventory clerking role, and have applied for a medical position offered by the people who turned me down at my recent interview. Nice to have something else to think about!!

BlueBelle123 · 22/08/2018 12:44

Sost DS's DGM has also given DS his congratulations card already, although he said he will open it tomorrow Smile

AlexanderHamilton · 22/08/2018 12:46

As we have to travel for about an hour to collect dd's results and I will be driving and then go onto a physio appointment I may not get a chance to post any updates here straight away.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 12:48

That sounds like a lovely surprise, sost!

DS3 is getting a new phone as a GCSE gift. Amazon tells me it's arriving today. We'll crank it up but I've told DS he can't use it until tomorrow, and only then if he gets 27 x 9 grades! He didn't think that was funny... I did. Grin

He's been looking on the GCSE sub-Reddit. Very stressy on there apparently. Better stay here where it's nice and calm. Wink

Stickerrocks · 22/08/2018 12:48

I want to see Christopher Robin too....

Holidayshopping · 22/08/2018 12:50

will make sure all 5 friends will have a wail of a time

Hopefully there will be no wailing!Grin

Stickerrocks · 22/08/2018 12:51

....actually, as Pooh is a bear of very little brain who constantly nails the underlying issues, it could be a great analogy for this thread (with no disrespect to the geniuses amongst us).

Oratory1 · 22/08/2018 12:51

I probably won't be reading or posting untll later on too but will definitely be thinking of you all

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 12:55

I won't be putting grades on FB. Will probably put which sixth form he's going to as that's the main thing really. As a divorcee with no parents alive, FB is where I share my DCs successes. My friends are very tolerant of me. Smile

I may share some grades on here, as it's anonymous. But would want to be careful of people's feelings if some had disasters.

BITCAT · 22/08/2018 13:06

Dd1 is adamant she has failed maths. Poor girls bitten her nails down so far.
She hates maths and really struggles, and really doesnt want to have to redo it alomg side her course. Ive told her not to worry and im proud of her whatever she gets as shes had a really tough couple of years with one thing or another.

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 13:20

I cant make mind up whether its CR or Mamma Mia 2....will let DD decide.

I havent treated DD to anything but just about to go out and get a card ...not sure how I feel about posting results - if she passes History I will certainly post...its a little odd knowing that the neighbour over the road probably knows DD's results because she is an administrator at the school.

crocsaretoocoolforschool · 22/08/2018 13:27

Dd's anxiety is through the roof -the joys of Aspergers

She's had online tuition for the last 3 years as her anxiety had prevented her attending school -I'm still not over the shock of her actually sitting them but she has very high expectations of herself and being less than perfect is not something she tolerates very well

We can't get results until 11 so will be watching with interest in the morning before we set off to school

Oratory1 · 22/08/2018 13:31

Hmm hadn’t thought of card. Maybe I ll get one to have ready. Sort of torn today and tomorrow as don’t want to make a big fuss but then don’t want to seem like I’m not bothered either

JufusMum · 22/08/2018 13:36

Just seen apparent Edexcel Maths higher boundary for a 9. Not sure if it is a fake or not.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 13:40

What was it Jufus? I won't hold you to it!

mmmz · 22/08/2018 13:41

It's just a case of waiting, isn't it?
Last time I checked, the grade boundaries had not been leaked. The Twitter user who leaked least time had his account deleted this morning.
The only two things I've seen were a possibility for OCR physics grade boundaries and possibly the AQA maths and English ones (England Lang was interesting..!). They may well be fake though.
To not stress DS, we aren't talking about GCSEs here(all 4 of us are on the car traveling home from MIL's - DH driving in case you are wondering!).

I don't post on social media, so I definitely won't be posting results online, unless MN counts as social media? In that case I'll PM any of the regular posters on this thread who ask.
Both grandmothers have asked to be told straight away, so I'll do that if I can reach DM (the hospital are keeping her in and there's no signal). It's still not entirely clear what's wrong with her. Otherwise I'll tell anyone in RL who asks.
If you only tell people who ask, then there's no risk of forcing the info on someone and inadvertently making them feel bad

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 22/08/2018 13:42

If you go to see Mamma Mia take tissues.

mmmz · 22/08/2018 13:43

80% jufus?

Oneteen · 22/08/2018 13:46

The IGCSE science grade boundaries are listed too - but not sure how accurate
