Well done drinklobster and eagle Dc;s Very uplifting results....(I may be picking your brain drink because DD is looking to go down medicine route).

Terf - good luck with job round 2...

LARLARLAND · 16/08/2018 13:47

Third Is your DS first choice a RG? I only ask because Liverpool Uni are offering lots of courses through clearing and they all seem to want BBC. It’s a RG uni too.

PandaG · 16/08/2018 13:47

Big congratulations to HesMyLobster DD and to PandaG DS!

LARLARLAND He's going to Leicester. Not a RG university but he likes the look of the History course there and it seems a good fit for him.

Wow, some good A level results today! As someone said bringing good luck to the thread for next week!

We have several friends and family getting results today, lots of pretty good news and exciting new Uni destinations!

Also DNephew has done well but not spectacularly better than DD did last year so we are kind of secretly pleased about that! You can't help these slight rivalries can you, especially in the younger generation between cousins etc. I'm genuinely glad for him that the results will open up some decent Uni possibilities, he is planning a gap year in any case, and may re-take a couple of modules in one subject. Everyone says he is pleased with good results and I hope that he is!

Also took helpful advice here for next week's results for DS, when he will be away on a music tour, and contacted school when staff would be in this morning. Was able to talk to examinations officer who is perfectly happy to email DS his results, and also email us ( which DS seemed happy to agree to) So that's all a relief to have in place for next week. All being well DS will then have to reply to the email with confirmation of sixth form/ A level choices.

Fingers are still crossed X :-) for us all for next week!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 16/08/2018 14:51

My sister and niece are coming up this afternoon and we head off to the Lakes for a few days tomorrow, after picking up the car from the garage which is having SatNav mended and some ( expensive!) new tyres! Hopefully this will help car get us there and back successfully!

superdoodle · 16/08/2018 14:56

Well done to all those celebrating A level success! Must be such a relief to be able to sleep tonight.

Thanks for all your kind responses about DS’s results. For those who asked about the Eng Lit debacle, the board used a complex calculation to try and make it fair to the pupils. My understanding is that they looked at each pupil’s performance against all other candidates on the other questions and used an average to rank where they should have scored in the disaster paper. I think that’s probably as fair as the board could be in the circumstances.

With regards to the chemistry DS’s school are keen to go for a remark. DS was pretty accurate with all his other grade predictions and can’t understand how he could have scored so much lower than usual on the theory paper. So we’re going for a remark on that one.

Fingers crossed for all your DC still on tenterhooks for next Thursday.

sandybayley · 16/08/2018 15:46

@BlueBelle123 - DS1 is tall but also rather clumsy in everyday life. He now has 3 stitches in his head at a cost of 200 euros - just as well we have insurance!

@eaglefly - great news about the Ad Maths result. Your DD must be so pleased.

LooseAtTheSeams · 16/08/2018 15:55

Sandy ouch! Hope he's ok!
Lobster brilliant news! Well done and same to eagle - amazing add maths result!

TerfTerf2 · 16/08/2018 16:32

panda brilliant! Well done you and your DS and good luck for Cambridge Smile

Been offered another job today, it's a self-employed type of role, as an inventory clerk for a property management company. All seems quite legit. Have to do a bit of online training and a job shadow next week but if it goes well, I'm in. Hope to use it it fill in odd days every week when I'm not at my PT job that I haven't got yet Grin And in less good news there's a leak in my kitchen sink cupboard, think it's the tap. Put a bowl under it to catch the water and worry about it tomorrow! #LivingTheDream....!

sandybayley · 16/08/2018 16:34

@Sostenueto - welcome back and hope you're feeling better.
