Yes it can cause hearing loss and tinnitus and tingling in the face etc Alexander.

I too have the Final Countdown ear worm - I am thinking of looking up the lyrics, because if I am going to keep singing it in my head then I might as know all the words Grin

I predict that The Final Countdown (by Europe) will feature a lot on political programmes next March.

Hello!

Sorry I’ve been awol, felt the need for a break from all things gcse and we’ve been away on hols etc. I have been keeping half an eye on these threads though and it sounds like the DC are having good summers.

Sost glad to hear that your treatment is done, hope you’re ok.

And Alexander great to read your news today, I hope they get to the bottom of whatever it is soon. My DH had Lyme disease a few years ago; luckily I’d heard it being discussed on the radio, spotted the ‘bullseye’ rash and made him go to the GP (I still regularly remind him that he owes me!) I also think it’s worth mentioning at your DH’s next appointment, the GP had to look it up when DH told him what I thought it was and I’m not sure it would have been diagnosed so quickly otherwise.

DS is having a great summer. He’s about to leave for another holiday with friends (and one of friend’s parents) and has been out and about a lot. He’s made a start on the A Level prep work he was set but will have plenty of time once he’s back from holiday to do the rest.

Can’t believe it’s only 2 weeks till results! I really couldn’t predict what they will be but I feel pretty relaxed about them (for now!) DD knew she needed very high grades for an Oxford application so the stakes felt much higher. DS isn’t sure where he wants to apply and is adamant he’s taking a gap year anyway (which I think is a good idea) so gcse results will be much less important once he has A Level results in hand.

Sorry to butt in - have the doctors considered Meniere's disease? Someone I know had vaguely similar symptoms with this disease.

Great news, Alexander.

Please don't name change until after results, everyone!

So far he’s only seen stroke people/radiology. I guess Menieres is one thing ENT will consider. He’s not had any sickness though.

He has definately had a bullseye rash in the past & indeed just over a week before his first numbness episode he was bitten By something (Dd was with him on a dog walk & remembers something landing on him & drawing blood). A day or so after the episode I remember him showing me his leg.

mmzz I was quite pleased to find dd on the sofa when I got home tonight. At least she made it downstairs Shock

To be fair yesterday she took it upon herself to change her bed sheets because she said they were revolting. I'm not surprised seeing as she's spent 23.5 hours a day in them and eaten 2 meals a day there too. Envy

I'm mostly ignoring her laziness because it's only been two weeks since we got back from our holiday and I think she's due a rest. I did lose my rag yesterday when she opened the door to the Tesco delivery man and then left all the shopping (including frozen stuff) right across the front doorway so I couldn't physically get in the house.

There may have been some shouting involved Blush but she did put it all away eventually. And she cooked dinner tonight so maybe my shouting did some good.

Kick one of the rules in our house is DC always put shopping away as I have bought or
ordered it so they need to put away to know what food we have Wink

Alex so pleased to read your news.

Was discussing plans for after bank holiday today and realised that will be after R day. Weird

Found you, please no name changes.

Can I vent on something non GCSE related. Will keep it brief plus don’t want to out myself... Feeling completely demoralised at work. Came home and went to bed crying and have just now woken up. And now looks likely for the second time I’m going to passed over for promotion. Okay you could argue that maybe I’m not the right person for the job, but there is a culture of “if your face fits”..... “jobs for the boys”.. or girls in this case. Plus both times a lot younger girls have got the job...

Oh Oddsocks that sounds crappy. Is there anybody you could take it up with? Perhaps frame it as asking for feedback as to why you were unsuccessful?
It sucks though, especially when it seems so unfair. Thanks and Gin for you.

LineRunner · 10/08/2018 06:43

Do you feel able to ask for a feedback meeting, Oddsocks15?

Oddsocks I'm no good at office politics either.
I have a theory that companies will do what's best for them whether that's pay rises, promotions, allocating work etc.
So, it's up to you not to make it best for them to leave you doing the same job year after year? Chances are you are really good at your job, and they think you might not like it if they promote someone else, but you will suck it up (and even make the new promotee's job easier for them?) whereas the other person might leave.
If it's a big organisation, you could start applying for internal vacancies and I would ask for that feedback interview to both send a message that you are not going to just suck it up (vulgar phrase, sorry) and also because you might hear something that you do need to work on.

I wish there was a non-public place on MN where we could maintain a list of old names / new names just for those of us in this thread.

Maybe to avoid our old and new names being linked on the extended searches, we could just put up a post under the name name that says my old name was ..... but slightly misspells the old name of puts a space in the middle of it eg mm zz?

oneteen prefer this name, I thought you had your DC even younger than mmzz thought
