And for French and Spanish looks like around 86,5% as highest depending on what components were chosen

eaglefly · 14/08/2018 07:16

Actually this doesn't make sense as DD's history was a 9 to 1 exam and the results on grade boundaries are in letter grades. So not sure I am looking at the right thing.

BlueBelle123 · 14/08/2018 07:16

eaglefly I'd be tempted to start banging about the place.....Smile

Am trying Blue Grin

AChickenCalledKorma · 14/08/2018 07:28

Hope things go well for everyone awaiting results today. I mentioned to DD that Add Maths is published on Thursday but school haven't mentioned it so I'm assuming we will get it next week with the others. She says she doesn't want to get that one first anyway as it was such a of of an exam. It will be weird hearing what some of your DCs have got in it and not knowing.

Stickerrocks · 14/08/2018 07:28

Blubelle get out of the naughty corner now please. We all believe in consistency. You found it didn't work the first time, but you're being fair. Nobody begrudges your DS a few tenners, especially as the grades will be a lottery.

Stickerrocks · 14/08/2018 07:35

ofqual.blog.gov.uk/2018/07/20/setting-gcse-grade-boundaries-this-summer/

This was posted by Ofqual last month for the new GCSEs. I hadn't realised that they were doing 17 grade combos for double science, which seems to make sense. I also hadn't considered the impact of a huge batch of teachers sitting the papers for the experience.

Stickerrocks · 14/08/2018 07:39

We are still technically waiting for an IT result which DD did in year 9 in a public exam, but not a real GCSE. They keep all results until next week. Luckily further maths (which seems to have been a disaster) was AQA. I would hate that one to be out and totally knock DD's confidence. I actually got a lump in my throat when I saw AChicken refer to next week. I still had it in my head that it was at least a couple of weeks away.

beenrumbled · 14/08/2018 07:53

No cash here either but we might go out for a meal.

DS is so chilled about results its incredible. The school posted the arrangement's for picking up results on their website yesterday and I asked him what his plans were...."not thought about it" apparently.

He hasn't done much these holidays apart from some refereeing, and playing and training for cricket and football.

He was invited to a FA Referee Development session for those who want to progress/have done well. He came home still keen to focus on becoming a professional referee. He needs to build his stamina apparently so on top of all his sport and training sessions he has started running ( when he remembers he needs to get up and go)

mmmz · 14/08/2018 08:15

We are doing the meal to celebrate too. And I'll bake a cake.

Stickerrocks · 14/08/2018 08:15

I know the fitness levels required for refereeing rugby are immense. One ref accidentally got stuck in the action with the pack last season. Football must be the same.

WhatHaveIFound · 14/08/2018 08:17

No cash here though I've bought DD a couple of small presents and we're going out for dinner next Thursday.

Text from her on the NCS today to say that she'd spoken to her mentor as someone was making her feel uncomfortable (being hit on) so she didn't want to share a flat with them next week. Very proud of her for speaking up.

Don't be in the naughty corner Bluebelle - I can see the temptation for cash for grades in some cases. Ds (14) is academically able but very lazy - we may have to resort to it. With dd I didn't offer cash for grades because I wanted to reward effort and hard work rather than results. We did give her money though - on the last day of exams so that she could treat herself to what she wanted, and to make the end of exams celebration special for her.

@KingscoteStaff
Only 15 mins to go. Good luck and I hope DSs results and what he needs!!!

HesMyLobster · 14/08/2018 09:48

Everything crossed for your DS Kingscote!! 🍀

JufusMum · 14/08/2018 09:57

Crossing everything for DC expecting results today :)

AlexanderHamilton · 14/08/2018 10:09

Good luck to all getting results today

On a train to London.

KingscoteStaff · 14/08/2018 10:16

Eng Lit A star (he’s pleased)
Eng Lang A (he knew he’d cocked up one paper)
French A (He says that’s fair)
History 8 (He’s gutted)
Music A star (He’s pleased)

And breathe...

ReservoirDogs · 14/08/2018 10:17

A very good friend with an "average/slightly less than average" child has achieved 6s in their CIE exams and she is thrilled. DC did work hard though.

ReservoirDogs · 14/08/2018 10:18

Congrats to Kingscote's DS on the first set in and the results too!

farangatang · 14/08/2018 10:19

I've sent DD to walk the dog. She has no direct login to get her results online and has to wait for school to email her. Didn't think it was the best use of her time to sit watching the computer waiting for the message!

Made more frustrating by friends at other schools posting...

She is so nervous - I just hope she's happy and there is some correlation between the work she did/her abilities and the outcome.

Good luck to all DC (and parents) enduring the wait.

farangatang · 14/08/2018 10:22

Kingscote WOW!! Huge congratulations to your DS. Sorry he didn't get his History '9' but I hope he can still enjoy the super achievement of an 8.

goodbyestranger · 14/08/2018 10:24

Fabulous results Kingscote - very well done to your DS.

BlueBelle123 · 14/08/2018 10:26
