Grin AlexanderHamilton - sounds like she is on good form

hmcAsWas · 24/05/2018 10:48

This is very true goodbyestranger - bless them all. Wasn't long ago since they were falling over and grazing knees and watching In the Night Garden [sighs wistfully]

JugglingMummyof2 · 24/05/2018 10:51

8.30 start for DD. Out by 10.08. Text by 10.17.
90 minute exam.

LARLARLAND · 24/05/2018 10:51

Thank you so much hmcAsWas.

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/05/2018 10:53

At 9.30 I spotted DS2's calculator on his desk. Had a brief moment of panic before I checked and saw that it was a non-calculator paper.

JugglingMummyof2 · 24/05/2018 10:56

That last one was to cubscout. They were at the public library by 10.26 - the school will not allow the to stay there between exams or before exams or after exams. No revision sessions at all since the 9th May. Basically if they are nor queuing for an exam/ in an exam or collecting stuff from their locker after an exam they are not welcome.

sandybayley · 24/05/2018 10:58

It's funny but going through exam season with DS1 has made me feel much closer to him than I have on a long time. I feel much more involved in what's happening in his life - and it's making me a little emotional. Not in a bad way.

I'm thinking back to when we used to seek out roadworks for him so he could look at the diggers

sandybayley · 24/05/2018 10:59

He was adorable when he was 3

GinWorksForMe · 24/05/2018 11:00

Second I did the opposite! Realised DS1 had taken calculator to school with him in clear pencil case, panicked that he might get disqualified for having it with him in the exam. However, he's just texted to say that the exam went well so clearly he remembered to take it out and leave it in his bag. Phew!

cubscout · 24/05/2018 11:03

That's tough juggling. Ds school have planned revision sessions and they are allowed to use the library anytime. However, he has taken to using the public library with a couple of friends (I think there might also be girls there....)

Off to school now for leavers assembly - wonder if ds will manage to speak to me!

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/05/2018 11:04

DS2 has just got home. He finished the 1h 30m (Edexcel) Maths paper in 45 minutes. He said he found it all straightforward.

I did ask him if he's certain he actually answered all of the questions. Hmm

LARLARLAND · 24/05/2018 11:04

I feel the same sandybayley

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 11:07

Feedback from dgd on AQA maths paper 1 ( higher) 'it was OK. Better than I thought it would be. Just one question I didn't finish but only a 3 marker anyway. I did my best.' And that is all we ask! She also added she's ready to waffle her way through R.E paper 3 because its commonsense. She hasn't done much revision for it. I replied hope your waffle doesn't run out too quick! She also said when exams are over she may require the services of a therapist!

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 11:08

Well done to seconds ds.

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/05/2018 11:09

Sostenueto she sounds as though she has it all under control.

Nettleskeins · 24/05/2018 11:11

sandy yes!!![sob] railways crossings and cranes!

I drove dd to school today and there was a traffic jam, so I made her walk the last bit in case she was late, only to find myself speeding past her at the last bit...I do hope she didn't feel too angry but I was convinced a little blood to the brain would help rather than hinder. I was sitting in the car listening to Radio 3 at one point, Orfeo by Gluck came on, oh dd this is a good song, angry response, can't you see I'm concentrating on inverse functions ....

ds2 at home with dh (his school is near our house) apparently went in happily enough, but then they had gone through the stages of looking for ruler, pencils, pencil case (dd apparently took the last ruler from the stationery cache) all of which were not where ds2 claimed he had put them last night and dh said there were various mini meltdowns, and the pencils turned out to have times tables printed on them!!!aargh, luckily it was ds2 who noticed that. I was glad to be somewhere else...

Changebagsandgladrags · 24/05/2018 11:12

No news yet from DH who is also doing AQA higher. Going to look on Twitter

brainmelt · 24/05/2018 11:15

sandy I've been feeling this looking back to the toddler and primary years and melting on thseinside for a while now. My involvement in his life has always been quite full on because of his strong commitment to so many things but this gut wrenching nostalgia is something new Flowers

Nettleskeins · 24/05/2018 11:16

Second that's fantastic and as it should be for your ds2.

Not heard anything yet, I know ds is revising English in school and dd will be frantically revising philosophy and ethics. My parting words her were...there are three cosmological arguments, three..remember me....Ds2 already has a B in RE from last year, I hope she can do as well as him. Ds1 only passed his RE because of a chance reminder I gave him in the car on Intelligent Design, it was literally one mark that put him over the C/B borderline.

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/05/2018 11:17

I still find DS2 adorable and keep having to remind myself that he is nearly a grown man.

brainmelt · 24/05/2018 11:18

Ah glad about your good news sost and second

TheSecondOfHerName · 24/05/2018 11:20

I think it's normal to be more aware of time passing when they go through milestones like finishing Y11.

In the week after DS1's GCSEs finished, he got a smart haircut, bought a suit for prom and started looking for a part time job. It was as if he had suddenly turned from an adolescent to an adult overnight.

CatherineCawood · 24/05/2018 11:21

DD (AQA higher) said it was hard - as expected. She answered all the questions but doesn't think it was all correct! She was aiming for a 7 now says she would be happy with a 6. I told her 4+ is fine thats all she needs for sixth form.

I told her to have a nice break before cracking on with some more english lit revision. Except auto correct changed it to "have a nude break" Grin

Onwards and upwards. War and Conflict poetry and An Inspector Calls tomorrow then a nice break for a week. Whoop!

Sostenueto · 24/05/2018 11:21

Fraught journey to school which ended up with dgd having to practically run a mile to school to get there in time. Roadworks ensured absolute gridlock in the middle of the city and we sat in traffic for 45 minutes without moving. Had to shove dgd out of car and off she had to go panicking. Whole idea of taking her to school because train gets in fairly late and she has only 13 mins to walk to school up a huge hill about a mile and half. I didn't want her arriving hot and bothered so that was a fail this morning. She rang me when she got to school and I had moved about 50 yards! Took ages for me to find somewhere to turn round and I only just walked in door when she rang to say she had finished exam. Shock puppy was brilliant first time in boot cos she's too big now to lie on front seat!

mmzz · 24/05/2018 11:27

Twitter seems to be saying that Edexcel higher maths was easy = high grade boundaries

and AQA Higher maths was challenging = low grade boundaries.

We shall find out in August.

meantime, I'm feeling a bit jealous of those of you whose DC actually make contact to say how it has gone. A plea for a quick text was the last thing I said to DS this morning.
