DD2 is doing a psychology degree - her maths (statistics) A level has been invaluable, plus her current neural module has been Y1 biology degree extra reading (ie the stuff they're supposed to do on top of lectures, but never do!). So both those are good for psychology.
She reckons those people who came into the degree expecting to write "english or history style" essays have had a bit of a shock, as psychology writing tends to be more reports than essays. Her writing style was described as "sparse" further down the school ("but not in a bad way"
), so she's adapted to the report style quite easily. I think if you were coming from a more prose-y background, the "write 500 words on x, covering a, b, c and d" would be pretty tough, even DD is struggling to cull words sometimes.
