Stickerrocks funnily enough I was also wondering how Donotbringlulu's DS was getting on, last time I think she mentioned more mocks and he was getting stressed.

Oddsocks do you think your DD's behaviour might have something to do with her hormones, just remembering what a nightmare DD could be at this age and in hindsight a lot(not all) was down to hormones!!

Stickerrocks · 03/02/2018 20:12

More importantly Odd did you get your laundry basket & could you please teach DD how to empty one occasionally, put it all in the washing machine & switch it on?

TheSecondOfHerName · 03/02/2018 20:26

mmzz DS2 is doing the FM course content in his normal timetabled maths lessons, so I don't know how many hours of teaching he has had on it.

Stickerrocks oh yes new laundry basket purchased 👍🏻 Was tempted to buy a new ironing board cover too but the excitement was too much.... My DD has own laundry basket in her bedroom and has made it downstairs for two weeks in a row.... she has yet to learn how to operate the washing machine

sostenueto you are making me laugh again. Here is some rum 🥃🥃

Oddsocks15 · 03/02/2018 21:31

Bluebelle pressed send too early, sure DDs behaviour is hormonal, all is well now and we are helping, yes I said helping, her print off some revision

TheSecondOfHerName · 03/02/2018 21:32

Sostenueto that is pretty much what happens when DD (Y9) asks me to help her with her work. Take a deep breath. Count to ten. Repeat as necessary.

Sostenueto · 03/02/2018 21:37

Thanks stickerocks! Come join me inGin ( imagine its rum as gin makes me cry) at this rate I won't need pain relief because I'll be too drunk to care!Grin

Sostenueto · 03/02/2018 21:47

And as for raging hormones....... Been dealing with that with dds and dgd for years! I can't remember hormonal strops but I bet I had them too! Glug! Glug!

Sostenueto · 03/02/2018 21:51

Sorry that should have read oddsocks to join me in Gin! See the rums working! Ironing board cover too??? That would be letting side down oddsocks!

Stickerocks there's plenty Gin for all!Grin

Stickerrocks · 03/02/2018 21:59

But DD is having a day/evening out with fellow geeks. They went for a long country walk earlier including 2 pubs for crisps & coke. Text message has now come through requesting a lift home in half an hour, so no Wine orGin as I'm Halo.

Oddsocks15 · 03/02/2018 22:12

Sostenueto · 03/02/2018 22:12

Stickerrocks · 03/02/2018 22:53

Oh my goodness, she dared to try 2 cans of fruit cider. That's more than me & It's a 6 Nations weekend!

Teenmum60 · 03/02/2018 23:27

Quiet weekend for us DD working today but she did manage to do French homework too ...French tutor tomorrow :-)

DD has meeting with HT on Monday - so she is very nervous and then we have parents evening on Tuesday.

Sostenueto - well done with HOE.

mmzz · 04/02/2018 07:10

Saturday was another day of struggle to get DS1 working. He knows the arguments why he should, but most of the other teenagers in his classes are saying that they aren't studying yet, so DS is thinking that since he tends to get good marks, he doesn't need to either.
He's lying to himself.
Anyway yesterday it was 90 mins of persuading in return for 3 hours of revision. I'm fed up with it. If he does it again, I'm going to order a couple of college brochures for the sort of place where you do a BTEC for a trade and I will leave them on the coffee table.

mmzz · 04/02/2018 07:23

Not BTEC, it's a level 1 NVQ in Construction Skills he needs to be applying for if unwilling to revise. You only need a few GCSEs levels 1-3, so I think DS can manage that without having to make any effort.
Obviously, he will be expected to learn at college and graft on the building sites, but if that doesn't work out, then he can try beauty college and see if that's more appealing.

mmzz - that was my tactic before Christmas. Downloaded 3 prospectuses for alternative 6th form routes and left them on the kitchen table, saying nothing.

A definite improvement in application ensued a couple of days later!

Oddsocks15 · 04/02/2018 08:28

mmzz interested to hear if your tactic works with your DS. I have twin boys who are 2 school years younger than DD who sound similar to your DD.

Oddsocks15 · 04/02/2018 08:30

Your DS mmzz still half asleep

Sostenueto · 04/02/2018 09:16

Omg bad night. Must be thought of another fractious revision session! This one not phased at all!
