DD said English was OK but boring (but this is her general opinion of English lang). Geography went well too, so that's two more subjects off the list.

BringOnTheScience · 12/06/2017 17:11

We had the parenting articles too! And expecting teens to solve the housing crisis in Geography.

Cafeconleche · 12/06/2017 17:17

AQA English here. DS used me as an example in his over-protective parenting essay, citing me getting hammered on Harvey Wallbangers on a school ski trip aged 13, and lying to my parents about an O Level revison session at a friend's house when in actual fact we'd driven down to London with some boys to watch Blondie at the Lyceum Blush. I came to no harm and those life experiences have turned me into a fine upstanding parent. Allegedly.

readyforsunshine · 12/06/2017 17:45

Bert & cafe, do you think they enjoyed that? Grin

AMilkyBrew · 12/06/2017 17:51

DD has exams all this week, none at all next week (just Sixth Form induction and Prom) but then has one final hurrah with Product Design on the 26th.

AtiaoftheJulii · 12/06/2017 17:58

Ds's school are strict about their sixth form entry requirements - just last year there were two who didn't make it who had wanted to stay on. One had a plan B lined up, the other didn't! But they are very clear about it, and have talked to this year's y11s about it quite a bit, especially those who aren't predicted high enough grades. They gave out "welcome to the sixth form" booklets before study leave started, and those who aren't predicted enough to stay on didn't get the booklet - I thought that was quite harsh! Although they've been told that if they do get the grades they'll be welcomed back with open arms.

DC1 has a 6th form day in a couple of weeks but it's an experience rather than induction. Going to be doing the IB, so they're having a TOK session and tasters of their new subjects.

Redsrule · 12/06/2017 18:37

AQA was a good paper. I have been banging on about using the rich language in the Lit texts and using it in Lang...well it looks like loads of my bottom set wrote about parents manacling their DC to their homes. It was a good plan ...

innkeeper · 12/06/2017 18:59

My son is panicking now. Maths tomorrow and feels he doesn't know a lot of C2 and c3 and the history for Wednesday. How is it best to target his revision

Allthebestnamesareused · 12/06/2017 19:09

For those who might be interested Edexcel Russian IGCSE was obviously fairly straightforward as all the candidates I invigilated today finished in under half the allotted time Grin!

Laniakea · 12/06/2017 19:25

Innkeeper - dd is in the same position, it is evil of AQA to put two chemistries & the hard history on the same day. Really mean.

Dd has done an hour of history (mainly dates & stats), a C2 & C3 paper (& looked at calculations & the qualitive tests) and a maths paper. She's having dinner then planning to do the Pixl AQA predication paper ... think by then she'll be too tired to get much out of it but it might help.

No more maths after tomorrow (please Maths God).

innkeeper · 12/06/2017 20:06

I just want it all to be over!

LittleHo · 12/06/2017 20:35

Disastrous English exam.

The exam paper was fine, but all hell broke loose in the school. Typical!

unfortunateevents · 12/06/2017 20:36

All hell broke loose in the school - unrelated to the exam?

LittleHo · 12/06/2017 20:42

Yes!

Exam had to be stopped multiple times. Nothing to do with ds but not great for him. He had a thumping headache as it lasted over 3 hours.

Quadratilla · 12/06/2017 20:42

Like Innkeeper and Laniakea we have the dreaded Maths tomorrow (I must pick her up after with both chocolate and coffee) followed by Chemistry and History on Wednesday. Cracks beginning to show now. Sick of invigilators walking up and down Hmm, naffed off with sitting next to the invigilators desk because they have whispered conversations and lost patience with the smelly boy she sits behind who seems to be a stranger to deodorant ConfusedGrin.

LittleHo · 12/06/2017 20:51

By the way it was not the schools fault. It must have been a nightmare for the invigilators.

They have been great about the disruption and handled it really well.. Roll on Friday though.

Quadratilla · 12/06/2017 21:04

LittleHo will they get special consideration due to the disruption? It may be worth asking the Exams Officer...your poor ds.

LittleHo · 12/06/2017 21:09

The school has already applied for it on behalf of everyone in the exam hall. Didn't even have to ask them as they have it all in hand.

ds recovered after a shower, a full bottle of water, paracetamol, a large bowl of chocolate ice cream and a sleep.

Madhairday · 12/06/2017 21:13

Oh no Little, that sounds a nightmare, hope everyone is OK.

English was 'ok' here (aqa). She also wrote about over-protective parents. Something about how too many children are coddled and stay indoors with screens these days, says the girl surgically attached to her phone Hmm she thinks it went OK though. Onto Maths...

6 to go!

Scabetty · 12/06/2017 21:18

Edexcel Eng Lang - dd wrote a speech. Happy with it but stressing over maths now.

errorofjudgement · 12/06/2017 21:23

DD felt the English exam was ok. She too write about over protective parents.
She apparently revised for maths this afternoon at the town library, which has become a bit of a magnet for Y11s from the local schools. Not sure how much work actually gets done!

innkeeper · 12/06/2017 21:34

I think at this stage it's just surviving. I know that given a week to revise either the Chen or the history he would get pretty much full marks. With the exams coming thick and fast it's just not possible. He has been revising solidly since Christmas but just can't hold all this info

MrsK · 12/06/2017 21:35

EDEXL higher maths tomorrow, just praying for a pass. Lots of tension here, maths is DDs weakest & least favourite subject. Its like dealing with a wild animal, one minute I can pet her (metaphorically) next moment I'm in danger of getting my hand bitten off! It's been a very long few weeks,I don't remember my parents being as involved we seem to be & other parents I know. Prom next week, which I am getting a lot of vicarious pleasure from. In my day it was a barn dance, I've never do si do'd since.

As always good luck to all especially maths tomorrow

BertrandRussell · 12/06/2017 21:40

" He has been revising solidly since Christmas"

I do panic a bit when I read sentences like that......mine has been revising on and off since Easter............
