Good luck to everyone's DC's.

pointythings · 24/08/2017 08:36

Just under an hour for us, the school is walking distance. DD said she slept better than expected.

t875 · 24/08/2017 08:56

Good luck everyone!! Tad nervous but she couldn't have put more in if she tried. Now we wait xx

MrsK · 24/08/2017 09:51

Good luck everyone 🤞

I hardly slept last night, so goodness knows how our kids must feel!

RaskolnikovsGarret · 24/08/2017 09:56

DD got 8 a stars and 3 9s. Very pleased for her as she worked so so hard. She and her friends seemed thrilled today, as many of them got 9s in English. No unhappy tears fortunately.

Well done to all DCs for their efforts this year - it's been a slog.

pointythings · 24/08/2017 10:39

Raskolnivov that's an amazing set of results, congratulations to your DD.

DD1 got 3 8s, 2Bs (both up for re-marking because 1 mark off A) and the rest all As. We're hugely proud, she was 4th in her entire year cohort.

Humphreyhippo · 24/08/2017 10:44

DS got a 9 for Lang, 7 for lit, 7 for maths, A* for history, As for both sciences, Bs for law and music. Delighted!

RaskolnikovsGarret · 24/08/2017 11:11

Thanks Pointy, many congratulations to your DD too, very well done. And to Humphrey's DS as well. And sorry to those DCs who are disappointed in any way.

Maths and English Lit - 9
English Lang - 8

Overall eight A*, two A's and a B.

Really happy.

Laniakea · 24/08/2017 12:19

we've just got back, good news here thankfully. DD got a 9, two 8s, five A*, one A & a B.

We're getting the A remarked as she got two A*s then a B which is very strange ... if it doesn't change it isn't a big deal but I'll be interested in seeing the paper as much as anything else.

The 8 for maths leaves me speechless but she worked so hard to bring herself up from a 5 at the end of year 10, I'm really proud of her for that.

Laniakea · 24/08/2017 12:20

(in old money she's been saying 8 A*, 1 A, 1 B ... the numbers are still a mystery to most!)

Laniakea · 24/08/2017 12:23

Not bad for a girl who bombed her 11+

(I'll stop posting now)

RaskolnikovsGarret · 24/08/2017 12:42

Really well done to your DD, Laniakea, she and you must be very pleased.

Madhairday · 24/08/2017 13:08

Oh hadn't seen this thread was revived too, was on the results thread.

Great to see how the dcs have done after all that angst we went through together.

Very very pleased with dds results. She really pulled them out of the bag. Only one disappointment which is being remarked, but still passed it, c for RE where she always got A*. V odd. But everything else great.

Thanks again all for your support on this thread!

minesawine · 24/08/2017 14:45

DS got 3 x grade 7 and A for everything else. I am so proud of him but worried about his A level choices Maths Economics and Physics. Too intense. But he wants to do them. I have to let him try

Laniakea · 24/08/2017 15:07

wine - that's brilliant! All that stress & worry & he's done so well :)

minesawine · 24/08/2017 15:29

Thanks Laniakea I am proud but still in shock, am I dreaming. The relief is massive. However I am dreading the next two years and hope he surprises me by becoming more mature and not needing to be nagged so much.

JanetheObscure · 25/08/2017 09:00

Madhairday, what was the board for your DD's RS?

My DD got an A and was just slightly disappointed not to get an A*. Checking the four individual paper results, she got full UMS on two of them, a very high A on the third and a not very high C on the fourth! Quite some difference in performance there, yet she had absolutely no inkling of this - in fact, she thought the "C" paper had gone pretty well.

The logical explanation is that she misinterpreted the high mark question at the end of the paper and dropped some other marks along the way too. Not going for a remark yet, but I think we'll ask to see the script just in case ..

Laniakea · 25/08/2017 09:28

dd had one totally random paper - B3, which was 70 UMS (right on the B/C boundary). The other 8 science papers were all well above 90 UMS. That took her biology grade down from A* to A. We decided in the end not to get it checked or remarked (risk of it going down to a C) but have asked for a copy. DD has no idea what went wrong & I'm intrigued to see it, she's never had a mark anything like that low in biology Hmm

Her school had an amazingly good year, their overall five 4-9 including maths and English was way higher than last year. Girls did really well - dd was 5th overall, two girls got three 9s & there were only two boys in the top ten.

I was so stunned by her maths result that I impulsively gave her £50 - I'd taken cash to school & budgeted in case we needed remarks - she's spent most of it already ... cider for parties, a giant shark, junk food & a computer game. She told me that one of the other kids had said he was going to get nearly £1000 Shock for his results. I don't know if that is actually true but it would buy a hell of a lot of cider!

She's at Reading now, I'm shell shocked by the whole thing - thank god we don't have AS levels next year.

Notanothergiraffe · 25/08/2017 11:04

B3 was the issue here too. Got an E on it and A/B/high C on the other papers. Ended up with a high C overall (68). It is frustrating but it is as it is I guess.

JumpingJoey · 25/08/2017 11:29

Another one for B3 being nasty. And another one with a Dd with an astonishing 8 for maths. She's always been good at maths but thought the exam was so awful that she would fail!

Laniakea · 25/08/2017 11:47

oh that's very interesting that B3 was low for other people too - there weren't any biology teachers around at school yesterday to talk to about it. It will be good to have a look at the paper.

Madhairday · 25/08/2017 11:59

Jane - think it was edexcel, but will check. Have left it to dh to look at the marks etc as I'm in hospital, he said one paper better than the other but don't know the details. She thought both had gone really well Confused then again, she thought English had gone badly and she got an 8 and a 7... He's put in for a remark, anyway, and we'll get the scripts to see what happened. She's actually pretty gutted another that one, it was always her best subject and she doesn't know what went wrong.

JumpingJoey · 27/08/2017 22:35

Yes B3 Edexcel I think she got a c which made all the other A* drop so A overall.
