Not even a week in and my lovely DS has announced that he is bored and feels like he has no purpose. He said he might do some maths revision and quizzes to keep his brain active and he is missing it. The boy is mad!!

He said a group of them may go to London Zoo next week. Bizarre, He was very reluctant to go to NCS on his own in 3 weeks time, but I think he will be desperate to go now.

ifonly4 · 21/06/2017 14:57

DD said C7 was okay (a bit uncertainly!). One of the six mark questions was on somewhere she can't get her head around.

livalot - DD had a few days of two exams a day, but it's no joke in this heat. Hope they go ok for her.

Giddyaunt18 · 21/06/2017 15:23

Dd has awoken from her slumber and said Chemistry OCR was quite hard but ok. I think she's lost all perspective on how she's done. She's used to getting As and A* but i think the whole process has shaken her confidence, probably because they are doing exam after exam without any feedback so you don't know whether you need to do more or not, if that makes sense. At least her exam hall is air conditioned and she is extremely grateful.

Giddyaunt18 · 21/06/2017 15:26

Focus is moving on to her getting a job. It's so hard. She has applied online to so many shops and not even had a response. is this the norm? I got a job at 15 by walking into Superdrug after school, speaking to the manager and starting that Saturday! now they all want CVs!! I mean hers sounds good but she doesn't have much to call experience apart from paper round. Anyone else having trouble?

CrazedZombie · 21/06/2017 15:58

Ds said c7 was quite hard but reported his classmates saying it was really hard. Hopefully the boundaries will be low and the other 2 papers will boost his final grade.
One more to go!!

pasanda · 21/06/2017 16:07

YEY!!!!!!

Finally finished in this house! Last one was physic this morning. I did nt get much from ds tbh, I think he's just so damn pleased it's over he couldn't care less Grin

I am itching to get in his room and clear up all the millions of past papers strewn over the floor/desk/bookcase but I'm not allowed!

He wants to do it which is fair enough and great, but my God I'm tempted!

Good luck to all those with exams left, can't be too many now.

See you in August!

Giddyaunt18 · 21/06/2017 16:15

Oh passanda I really want to bin the paperwork too! If I touch it I get told off, it's in order apparently Hmm. She is planning a bonfire with friends to burn it all!!

cantkeepawayforever · 21/06/2017 16:52

FINISHED!!!

pointythings · 21/06/2017 17:00

Last revision session today - tomorrow's has been made optional for everyone who attended today because they covered everything needed. DD says she is going to sleep tomorrow. Last exam Friday, I can't wait for it all to be over.

Laniakea · 21/06/2017 17:07

congratulations to today's finishers Grin

DD has decided to keep her tie, maths & science revision books & this year's planner (for sentimental reasons ???) - everything else has gone! Wonderful feeling that was Smile

I've been phoning home this afternoon wondering where DD is as she wasn't answering texts etc. She eventually answered at 4 to say she had just woken up Shock in this heat!!

Waste of a day but she must have needed it.

RedHelenB · 21/06/2017 22:31

Prom today the weathet held and everything went according to pkan.

Madhairday · 22/06/2017 07:54

One more revision day to get through then p3 tomorrow then freedom :)

She's definitely lost the will but we're powering through today. I work from home so keeping her supplied with drinks and snacks and motivational speeches Grin

She too has plans for a bonfire with her mates. Seems to think our garden is ideal for it Hmm

LIZS · 22/06/2017 08:08

Dd has gone off for Book Returns Day, friend's bbq tonight and prom tomorrow. Successful last minute shop yesterday but wobble over hair!

Well done to those who are still going , the end is in sight.

cantkeepawayforever · 22/06/2017 08:18

DS has multiple musical rehearsals and events over the coming 2 weeks, both in school and outside, as well as book return & sixth form induction. Then he gradually subsides into 'no fixed activity' (though I think his group have friends have a calendar of social events planned out) for a couple of weeks until the summer (and associated music courses, tours etc) starts.

ifonly4 · 22/06/2017 10:56

DD did a little physics revision while she was hanging around at school the other day, but has only just got down to it this morning. She's doesn't want to continue with it at A level so I think there's less motivation now. DD has music lesson after physics tomorrow but has planned to see a friend afterwards and then a group on Saturday, oh and another friend to practice prom makeup on Sunday.

Madhairday · 22/06/2017 11:28

Ifonly, dd is the same. She keeps procrastinating. She's just been making smoothies Hmm to 'help her revise'. Looked in on her and she was slumped in a chair, physics book on the table, face utterly blank and obviously bored out of her brain. She's so had enough now. Not sure any actually useful revision will get done today.

PaddlingInTheShallows · 22/06/2017 15:26

Echoing other lurkers to say thanks for these Year 11 support threads. It has been SO helpful to read these questions and conversations, and see how everyone's experiences have been different and challenging in their own ways!

I suspect the help so kindly and freely given on the threads has been of much benefit to our kids, and I wish every one of yours success and happiness come 24th August.

My own DD has been fairly ok through the process, though it has seemed to last for such a long time! She seems to think she has done worse than she had hoped in some subjects, and better than she thought in others. She is hoping for mainly As, with the odd B and odd A* (with targets of 8's for maths and english, but predicted 7s).

She said she has been stressed, but I'm not sure that translated into better, more effective revsion, but we will soon see. Lots of lessons learnt in advance of A levels though.

And now, relax Smile

Giddyaunt18 · 22/06/2017 17:09

Glad the heat is fading, all very hot and bothered here with prom prep and Physics revision. I do wish her school had planned this a little better. DD is frothing about how is she supposed to revise and get everything sorted for prom? She has a point. Of course it is me that has ended up running around trying to find the right multiway bra and party feet insoles for sky high heels! I have watched that many youtube messy up-do tutorials I have started to speak like a vlogger! She has finally decided that she will not be going to 'other' school's induction day as it's highly unlikely she will decide to go there. Glad she finally made a decision and did it without my input.

pasanda · 22/06/2017 17:45

Giddy - blimey! Makes me glad I've got a boy. Bought a suit....sorted!

However, I have 3 girls to follow (including twins!) so that will be fun when their prom time comes. NOT!!!! Grin Grin

I washed my last ever pair of boys school trousers today. 12 years of washing them, end of an era...

pointythings · 22/06/2017 19:34

I doubt DD did any revision today, but she did a 5 hour session at school yesterday. And tbh if she doesn't know it now, she never will.

Tomorrow is her last day in uniform - it feels strange. But she is very relieved.

Giddyaunt18 · 22/06/2017 21:15

I cannot wait to rip my DD's uniform to shreds! That sounds extreme and it is. Her school updated the uniform last year, DD didn't want the new one so carried on for the last year then lost a sweatshirt so has been wearing the same one (quite faded now)and only wears one pair of trousers that are awful. I will happily take the scissors to them tomorrow!

BertrandRussell · 22/06/2017 23:43

I am the family ironer. It was very odd ironing my last horrible polycotton school shirt-I've been doing it for 10 years!

Madhairday · 23/06/2017 07:53

Last day! ☺️

I also can't wait to chuck out the uniform. It has become very tatty over the last few months and I saw no point in replacing it. I think a ceremonial chopping of garments sounds a plan.

Dd straight off to a friend's for the night after physics so I won't see her but have told her to text me to tell me how it went. May or may not hear from her...

Good luck to any doing p3 or anything else today.

Can't believe it's over.
