Finished here. Dd had last exam this afternoon, graphics.

Been out for dinner to celebrate.

Her sixth form dress code is very strict. Trousers or knee length skirt with matching jacket. Blouse/shirt.

errorofjudgement · 20/06/2017 18:52

DDs school still has a proper uniform in 6th form. Skirt is only available from 1 shop and is only sold in 1 length, that's designed to be knee length but the skirt that is still hated knee length on the taller girls is mid calf length on DD!
The uniform shop is aware how much the girls hate it and although they're not allowed to sell different lengths, they have the contact details for an altering service. Confused
As if the uniform wasn't already expensive enough!

AmITwirly · 20/06/2017 19:17

Hurray! We are done!! DS1 did his last A-level yesterday and DS2 did his last GCSE today: Additional Maths which he thought was fine apart from one question that apparently no-one knew how to do, so presumably they hadn't been taught it.

Can't believe we are finally at the end of the road. It's been a long, hard slog. DCs are off to Asia tomorrow, where it's currently 45 degrees. So, if you think it's hot here.....

pointythings · 20/06/2017 19:51

The letter we got for 6th form induction said 'smart casual'.

DD is planning to go in a knee-length pinstripe black dress (ok, so that's businessy...) with fishnet tights (weather permitting) and her DMs.

BertrandRussell · 20/06/2017 19:54

So pleased ds doesn't have 6th form uniform! (If he gets in........)

It's jeans and hoodies all the way. (If he gets in)

AtiaoftheJulii · 20/06/2017 20:31

Dodgy add maths q:

They clearly meant to ask a question about the area under a curve between two limits, but ds reckoned the way it was written it asked about the area between the curve and the lines x=2 and x=5 ... which don't define an area ...He may have read/remembered it wrongly - and anyway, he knew what they were getting at, he just decided to be very literal.

Apart from that, all ok ... And just physics tomorrow then all over!

Any exam markers about? My Dd did OCR Add Maths FSMQ today, she accidentally missed out a question and proceeded to write some of the answers in the incorrect numbered box in the answer booklet. She realised her mistake and re-numbered the boxes in the answer booklet and answered the missed question on the additional paper. Will this still be marked ok? Thankyou

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2017 20:44

Yes, it'll be fine. Not the first time it has happened!

MakeMineALargeRose · 20/06/2017 20:49

Thankyou Noblegiraffe, she thinks she's done ok, apart from the answer box issue. Like you say I'm sure the examiners will see all sorts. Exams over now, phew, so will try relax until results day :-)

LIZS · 20/06/2017 21:07

Yes atla dd recognises that question and thought it should have also mentioned the x axis to define the area. She basically wrote that the area couldn't be worked out using integration!

BringOnTheScience · 20/06/2017 21:12

Another Add Maths FSMQ survivor in my house.... and we are DONE!!! V happy DC1.

Huge best wishes to those still ploughing along.

hedwig2001 · 20/06/2017 21:43

All done here Smile.
Graphics wasn't as bad as expected.
Have emailed the head of 6th Form for the induction day dress code. Said he either had his school uniform or his very blue Prom suit!
Good luck to all those still working.
Look forward to coming back for results day.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 20/06/2017 23:04

Edexcel history was fine. All over now. Best of luck to everyone's DCs, and hope you enjoy the summer.

AtiaoftheJulii · 21/06/2017 07:05

Well, not a lot of physics revision got done last night! Dd2 came home and the two of them sat in the garden for ages chatting Smile Still, one little 90 minute exam and it's done, at last.

Thank you all for sharing the experience! Makes it easier Smile Good luck to those still going (will keep checking in until Monday!) - hope everyone has a good summer, see you on results day!

Chemistry today... Not a lot of revision got done yesterday. Dd was hot and tired and I don't blame her. Only one to go after this. Anyone else doing edexcel c3 this morning?

Can't believe they're nearly over Smile I won't even see dd after her last exam, she's straight off to her friends to stay the weekend and celebrate.

ifonly4 · 21/06/2017 08:03

Yes, we've got C3 this morning. I think poison and giddy have as well.

DD did do some revision yesterday afternoon and evening and is trying to cram last minute facts in right now. Glad she's doing it early - if the weather forecast is correct it's going to be a scorcher!

poisonedbypen · 21/06/2017 09:42

Yep, C3 ongoing at the moment. DS went out for a few hours early evening yesterday for a friend's birthday which probably did him good. Was cramming at 11pm though, not so good! Nearly there Smile

poisonedbypen · 21/06/2017 09:43

Sorry C7, not C3 (OCR 21st Century)

Madhairday · 21/06/2017 12:03

C3 was 'ok'.

She's gone to sleep bless her. She's shattered. Don't have the heart to tell her to do much physics today. She's got all day tomorrow.

poisonedbypen · 21/06/2017 12:13

C7 was "easy". It does worry me when he says things like that. Ho hum.

Fleurdelise · 21/06/2017 12:16

Just popped in to see how the dcs who didn't finish yet are doing, well done to those who finished and good luck to those who still have some exams to complete.

DS has two sixth form induction days at his school next Monday and Tuesday and yes, we had to go and buy smart dress, ours says office attire, suit and stuff but then got into the detail of trousers (not jeans) and shirts without patterns. Got him a pair of black trousers and two shirts. He will also have his prom suit which is a normal suit in case it turns out that he actually has to wear one. Let's hope he gets in though.

Madhairday · 21/06/2017 12:16

That always worries me too, poisoned. She was like that with RE and English Language, rather too cocky for her own good...

Giddyaunt18 · 21/06/2017 13:10

Just in from work to find DD in bed with fan directed at her face after OCR Chemistry this morning. I'm sure when she awakes she will tell me how it went and then I'll tell you!

Giddyaunt18 · 21/06/2017 13:11

One more exam!

livalot · 21/06/2017 14:03

DD had Chemistry this morning and has Health and Social Care this afternoon! I cannot begin to imagine how horrible and hot the exam room was. Two in one day and she is not finished yet!!!! She's got last exam on Friday - Physics
