Ds said AQA History (spec B I think?) was really good and went well...and then told us he didn't put in too many dates, but lots of good analysis...?

Could be anything from A* to a C!

Madhairday · 14/06/2017 17:31

Dd happy with the exam but upset because a girl in her group has organised a party but left dd and one other girl out. Dd has no idea why. Ffs, do we need this drama in the middle of GCSEs? I thought girls were growing out of this now Sad

So having to comfort her amidst trying to get her to revise physics. She's just at the end of it all so something like this is hitting her harder.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 14/06/2017 17:51

Mad, I hope your DD is ok X

History and Chem both fine. Just Physics and another history paper to go.

Laniakea · 14/06/2017 17:52

dd was doing history B too (so that's history completely done now!). She thought the 20s question & Hitler's Germany were really nice, wasn't that impressed by the wording of the final part of the race relations question but she did get an opposing argument in though not as strong as she's have liked.

AtiaoftheJulii · 14/06/2017 18:07

Ds reports Physics (OCR Gateway) was ok - hope the other Gateway people thought so too!

And he said WJEC history (don't think anyone else here is doing that) went really well, so really pleased about that as he has worked really hard on that - for all of the last day or so, lol!

Ds is giving himself a night off because he's got a 3 hour physics revision session at school tomorrow and one of the Head of Science's speciality gallops through the syllabus on Friday morning, so that's plenty. Apparently.

Did I mention I think he might be a bit too laid back??

Cafeconleche · 14/06/2017 18:13

Mad Flowers Flowers for your DD - sounds really mean and unnecessary tbh.

Tiggy - yes, the start of the exams feels like eons ago, and yet it still seems like yesterday I was sweating over the amount of revison DS had in front of him and the GCSEs were 'only' 3 months away. Now I can't believe the amount of recycling that's going on in this house - reams and reams of past papers, revison notes and files being unceremoniously dumped into the wheelie bin. I'm clinging onto the books though... Two exams left here...Roll on next Tuesday Wine

PossumInAPearTree · 14/06/2017 18:15

Well exam leave started yesterday morninng after maths. All the kids were thrown out of school and the gate locked.....this was after an email saying there would be study space for anyone who wanted to stay.

Dd told one of the teachers she had no money, no phone and lived 7 miles away and the school bus doesn't leave until 4pm. Was told bad luck and the gate locked.

She spent the afternoon in a park in a dodgy part of town watching drug deals going down and blokes pissing in the bushes by her.

I was on the phone to school at 8am! Theyre very sorry. And this is just after an email from school warning about a flasher in the area!

On a more positive note chemistry which she was dreading went well. I helped her with some revision last night but struggled as I have zero chemistry knowledge. But two of the six mark questions were on stuff we covered.

Cafeconleche · 14/06/2017 18:19

At this stage Bertrand it sounds like plenty to me. My DS is planning a quick glance at Primrose Kitten at some point tomorrow...

BertrandRussell · 14/06/2017 18:19

Possum-what about all the other years?

cantkeepawayforever · 14/06/2017 18:21

Down to the last 3 exams.

DS has Philosophy / Ethics paper 2 tomorrow, Physics on Friday and a random MFL writing paper mid next week. He's on his knees, bless him.

PossumInAPearTree · 14/06/2017 18:23

Just the year 11s kicked out.

Danglingmod · 14/06/2017 18:23

Blimey, Possum, that's completely pants of the school. They really seem to have let her down.

Madhairday - I spent weeks this time last year counselling/comforting a year 11 student whose friends had all turned on her over prom hairstyles (!) and who was distraught for most of her GCSE period.

pointythings · 14/06/2017 19:44

Possum that's appalling of the school!

And mad what a mean-spirited thing to do, excluding two girls.

DD1 reports History went well, but all the writing this week has aggravated her shoulder injury for which she is having physio. Fortunately it's just sciences from here on in so no endless screeds required.

Sprog19 · 14/06/2017 20:43

DS treated us to a blow by blow account of his answers to the history exam ( AQA - Wild West) - sounds as if he wrote in detail ( kept trying to ask him what he wanted for tea and he would say something like 'but I haven't told you what I wrote for qu 2 yet'. Most uncharacteristic! Chemistry was ok I think but I'd lost the will to live by the time he got onto talking about it.

GiraffeorOcelot · 14/06/2017 20:46

Bertrand a 3 hour school session and a quick run through on the morning sounds like plenty to me!

DS is also having the evening off and I will be very happy if he spends 4 hours tomorrow working on physics but to be honest he is so shattered I will probably leave him asleep until midday.

That is awful possum Shock

Mad hope your DD sorts it out Flowers

keepondreaming · 14/06/2017 22:52

DD has managed to "squeeze in" a hair appointment between physics revision tomorrow. Top of her to "to do" list I guess Hmm

Fleurdelise · 14/06/2017 23:01

Mad I thought drama like that doesn't happen at this age anymore. I hope your dd is ok.

Possum that's outrageous. So they're sorry?! If something bad would have happened to your dd (thank God it didn't) they would have been responsible for it!

Sprog do you want to swap kids? Just for one day. DS is a closed book, I even tried to joke about Daniel and his 420 cakes in yesterday's maths exam (twitter was going on about weed reference) and he looked at me like I was from another planet. Hmm (

readyforsunshine · 15/06/2017 06:03

History not so good for us unfortunately, he revised the least for this paper, other 2 went well. Chemistry was good.
Mad hair & possum that's awful for both your Dds. I can't believe the school didn't inform, we had several notifications here.
Philosophy today, very little revision done, physics tomo then its all done & only the results to wait for.
Good luck everybody 🍀

pointythings · 15/06/2017 07:47

No exams today, just a full school.say of compulsory science revision. Then biology and physics tomorrow and a chemistry and last physics next week. Our temporary teenager finishes tomorrow but has to come in next week to resut failed modules of ECDL. Am just grateful DD for that out of the way last year.

Dancergirl · 15/06/2017 08:11

Edexcel History yesterday for dd - Russia and History of Medicine. All went well except the 15 mark essay question on medicine. It was about changes in public health between 1845 - 1900. Dd managed to get something in about the Public Health Acts (but she thinks she might have mixed up the dates) and talked about Florence Nightingale and changes to nursing. But she's worried that's not what they are looking for, is it really to do with public health?? Any knowledgable Historians around?

Dancergirl · 15/06/2017 08:13

madhair your poor dd Sad Why are girls so mean??

ifonly4 · 15/06/2017 08:20

Mad, hope things settle down for your DD

Possum, I can't believe they did that without any warning. They could have at least offered DD from call from student reception for a lift or to let you know what's happened.

No exams today. Physics tomorrow, then biology, chemistry and physics again next week.

LIZS · 15/06/2017 08:30

Further maths today, last night she realised she didn't get something and was getting frustrated. Fingers crossed it doesn't come up.
