Do you know anything about Gateway Science?

We went to dd's parent's evening last night and were informed that her class have been put in for their Science SAT a year early (would have been good to have been given more than a few weeks notice but there you go).

The 'plan' is for them to do Gateway(?) science in yr9, an Additional in yr10 and then possibly an AS in year 11. Does this sound feasible to you, too much to manage or even complete b*!!cks?

DS's school puts all the boys through SATs in year 8 (this year for him), allowing them more time for GCSE courses. They then do half-subjects in year 10 (e.g. RE), plus Maths for the top set. So we have just had the fun of GCSE options a year earlier than other schools.

MB - the better students do 3 subject science GCSEs, and the others do the dual-award Science. I am well aware of what you think about this!

One of my kids who did double science at GCSE (got an A*) has just done her first AS exams. Got 3 As in Biol Chem and Phys. In biology she scored 99/100!

Double science is no handicap to AS study

EP is exceptional performance (above level 8 in maths and above level 7)
