Thanks RT, this is such an opportunity I am thinking of letting her stay home in the morning for some revision as she really needs a lot more time.

Oh I would deffo keep her at home

Let her revise or chill which ever she wants to do

My DS exams were all day so he missed a whole day school

So what will she be tested on?

Well I wouldn't send her to school in thr morning if she is taking an entrance exam in the afternoon.

I think that you do need to have a chat with ehr tongith thoguh to see how motivated she is. You obviously see this as the ideal opportunity but you need to hear what she thinks as well. If she is clear that she wants to get in for herself, then she'll be int e most positive frame of mind for the test (and exam). If she is clearly disgruntled at having to sit the exam the staff will pick up on this (as I assume relatively few are sitting it).

DD is totally estatic at the chance of getting into the school. We had a private visit few weeks ago and during this time she pulled DH back and asked him to help her with maths as she so wanted to school there. During interview with the Head he intimated he could possibly squeeze her into yr 8 and here we are just hours away from the test. She will be tested on maths, english and VR.

RTKanga Mummy Glad you clarified wheat you meant by a 'clam' evening - was wondering if that was a recommendation for shellfish dinner the night before!!!!!

Thank you snorkle. DD has done VR before but some of it is not easy at all. English is her best subject and we have been working on maths so its all fingers, arms, legs and anything else crossed. DD is a very very laid back person so hopefully her nerves will not get the better of her. She wants this so much I just pray she will succeed. DH wants her to agree to board for a little while as its a much easier foot in the door but I am not giving in, shes too young, too precious and doesn't want to anyway. NOTHING is worth sending her away for not even a great school in my opinion. Thanks everyone for your good wishes, hope I can come back to you all with some great news, although we won't know the exact result until mid next week.

eeeeekkkkkk............. Poor DD sobbed her heart out when I collected her. Said the test was so so hard and a lot of the maths she hadn't even covered in her current school . She was also given a yr9 english paper but she is only yr7 but said it was ok, english is her best subject. I really felt for her, she is so enthusiastic and keen to get into this school, she begged me to go inside and talk to them. I did go and and explain she hadn't yet covered the maths work in the test and was told DO NOT WORRY, we just want to see what she is capable of. Told them we are having a private tutor 3/4 times a week and maths is coming on leaps and bounds so I guess we just have to wait and see. They haven't really even got a proper space for DD to enter yr8, they are supposedly squeezing her in!! subject to the test. Will update when I get the verdict, thanks for all the good wishes.
