This thread got me looking at the calendar. I can't quite believe it is only 10 more weeks. Her first exam is on 19th May and her last is 29th June, so a big spread.

DD says she is bored of revision already Shock To give her credit, she is ploughing on with it regardless. This afternoon she will be doing chemistry mind maps with a couple of friends. At least it will make a change from all the practice papers.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/04/2017 09:48

DD's exams are quite well spaced out too ageinghippy, more so than has been the case before, so we're hoping that will be quite helpful.

Talk of past papers and mind maps makes me think that both of mine need to get more serious about their revision though!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/04/2017 10:41

At least there's not the sheer number of exams there were for GCSEs. DD has 10, 3 per subject plus Mechanics 3 which she's self-taught.

teta · 19/04/2017 13:47

Can I vent on here?
Dd's 18th birthday tomorrow. As 2 aunties are coming tomorrow she is clubbing on Saturday with her friends.Other Auntie is coming with husband on Friday and is now staying Saturday as well .Dd offered them her bed instead of sleeping in a camper van for Friday night not realising they're staying 2 nights.Dd's planned birthday sleepover is now out of the window ( said auntie said her and the friend can sleep in the camper van for the night Shock Angry). Not to mention we have 2 kids attempting to revise through all this with 2 of the relatives already staying in ds bedroom where his desk is.
None of them are my family so I can't say no Shock.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/04/2017 14:33

Good to be marking her birthday in style teta?
Aunties are important too?
Revising can wait a couple of days, or be slightly sub par over the weekend?
Congrats to her and to you!
Enjoy as much as possible x

teta · 19/04/2017 15:20

Yes Juggling that's true.
But they are not coming for her Birthday. They just happen to be travelling round Europe.I have no problem with welcoming them any other time but Dd is really upset that they will quash her sleepover.
I've asked her if she can arrange one at her friends house.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 19/04/2017 16:26

Oh OK, that is a bit annoying then. I hope your DD still has a lovely birthday weekend, and you can manoveure around the Aunties!

teta · 19/04/2017 16:38

I will try.
One is hugely bullying, narcissistic and domineering and has never had children but is an expert.I come over all dragon-like when she's around with smoke coming out of my ears!!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/04/2017 16:45

Its meant to be flame from the nostrils Dragon ... FlowersGin

teta · 19/04/2017 16:56

Flames from mouth
Smoke from ears ?

aginghippy · 19/04/2017 18:18

JugglingFromHereToThere · 20/04/2017 15:06

Happy 18th baby teta 😀

ono40 · 20/04/2017 15:46

Happy 18th birthday mini-Teta! Shame that the Aunties are ruining the sleepover, maybe you can seek revenge by returning the visit at some time that is hugely inconvenient to them!

Horsemad · 20/04/2017 23:47

Happy Birthday to your DD Teta Cake Wine

teta · 22/04/2017 14:35

Thank you all.Flowers
Dd had a lovely birthday and is out celebrating with her friends tonight.
Aunties are all on their best behaviour and have been easy-going so far.
Dd was very happy to get a second offer this morning from Surrey!
So that will be her insurance at AAB.
We Will be partying at home with a barbecue and lots of Wine and Gin.

bigTillyMint · 22/04/2017 16:16

Tera excellent news on all fronts GinWineSmile

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/04/2017 17:33

Yey, great to have an insurance too teta

(Though those grades still looking high to me!)

Glad she's been having a nice birthday

ErrolTheDragon · 22/04/2017 19:14

Fantastic, that offer is a good birthday present from Surrey.Smile

teta · 24/04/2017 16:15

Yes,it was Errol .Dd was so thrilled.I thought she might get an offer after being on the waiting list for a while.Juggling the grades are high I guess. But it's concentrating her mind and she is working very intensively, doing lots of past papers.
I am exhausted!
A week and a half of visitors plus two kids trying to revise has given me dizziness.Every time I sit or get up I'm dizzy.I presume I have a bug affecting my inner ear .I've taken to my bed today as it's the first day of school for all 4 kids. And I'm so glad to relinquish partial responsibility of ds1 and his exams to his school Grin.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/04/2017 17:25

Flowershope you feel better soon, teta. Presumably not actually too much gin.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/04/2017 11:24

I'm feeling really tired too teta, last day of the Easter hols for my two. The Easter break seems to have gone on for ages, and being a revision companion is exhausting even if I do leave most of it to DD. She mostly gets on with it quite sensibly but she likes to talk through what she's been doing with me from time to time. It's probably knowing they are important to what she does next and her being my first to go through it all makes it stressful. Anyway I hope I find it easier when we do it all again with DS in 3 years time!
Hope you're feeling better soon, and able to enjoy your first day of rest from them all!

ono40 · 25/04/2017 14:44

Hi Juggling, I am feeling tired too. DS likes to tell me all about what he is revising (usually at 11pm). I shall soon be an expert on Tudors and US politics! I have to say, as a scientist, none of it makes sense to me but I just nod and ask dumb questions.

Teta, I hope you feel better and well done to your DD for getting two offers.

Did anyone see that programme last week about junior doctors? Made me glad that DS isn't applying for medicine. It looked like they were all really stressed by not being able to spend the time they needed with patients and many were planning to leave the NHS. Mind you, I visited the GP with DS2 who needs metal pins removing from his arm and she told me to find a surgeon by looking up their reviews on Google!

Meanwhile, we (I) have sorted student finance and DS has completed and returned the declaration. As he is eligible for only the minimum maintenance loan it was quite easy to do. Accommodation has been chosen and applied for (the most expensive halls obviously as we are paying). So, just a small matter of 7 exams and we are done. Eek...

teta · 25/04/2017 14:58

Errol sadly not too much gin.
It's quite interesting feeling totally spaced out though.Even turning over in bed makes me feel dizzy. Its called Vertigo apparently, after much googling and can come and go.But I have a heavy head and headache so I assume its probably a bug.All I've done today is make soup, crawl back to sofa.Marinade the chicken, crawl back to sofa!
I hope you all get a good nights sleep tonight and feel less tired tomorrow.Ono, I sympathise mine does that too and then fights with me over something minor and stomps off leaving me too weary for words.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/04/2017 16:48

I feel less tired having been out on a little last day of the hols outing to the local park and cafe with DS and girlfriend - in between the showers
So perhaps it wasn't so much tiredness as maybe boredom!
It can be nice to get a bit of fresh air 😊

ono40 · 25/04/2017 21:54

Lol teta, we had a row about UK politics and tactical voting! Damn you Teresa May and your general election! Still it is good to see young people passionate about voting.

Teta, if you have vertigo (Meniere's) you need to see the GP and get betahistine. If you are feeling sick/nauseous then prochlorperazine (Buccastem - you can buy this over the counter) will help. I am a pharmacist so I am on home turf here, I know more about this than politics Grin
