BTM yes I've thought of that.As we are already in Malaysia in the holidays. There is a rescue elephant place they visited an hour from KL last time. The problem is dh would not let her stay somewhere by herself and is very frightened of Elephants, so is really not keen.He won't even let her go traveling with her friends as he thinks it's too dangerous.
We are staying in Borneo in the summer and will visit the Orangutang sanctuary.Dd could see whether they take on volunteers and maybe set something up for future years.
The Wildlife park sounds lovely Juggling. Is your dd planning on doing Zoology?

bigTillyMint · 10/04/2017 12:37

Wow teta, sounds like a fab holiday! Envy It sounds like you would be well placed for her to try something this year even!

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/04/2017 16:20

Sounds brilliant teta and so interesting for your DD.

Yes, DD here applying for zoology. Hoping she's going to love it!

teta · 12/04/2017 19:40

Juggling I'm sure your dd will love it, i did.
Dd has gone out for lunch with an old friend followed by a driving lesson in the afternoon and an 18th birthday meal,Yesterday was a sleepover and revision at her friends house ( luckily they are both swotty ) and Sunday was a trip into town for a meal and a cocktail bar.She is working intensively in between but seems to get morose if she doesn't go out regularly .This didn't happen in her GCSE year! She was happy to work all the time.Next week is her 18th and they are planning on clubbing.....legally at last.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/04/2017 22:50

DD had a driving test - didn't pass but she was quite happy about that as she didn't really feel confident but it went better than she expected. So that's OK, plenty of time for another go during the summer hols.

Sleepover tomorrow so her room is actually tidy. Grin

LittleHo · 13/04/2017 10:55

dd had her driving test too. She passed which is amazing considering everything else.

My Mum has passed away now. Hard for us to focus on GCSE's and A Levels but there is no choice. I just hope they can maintain enough concentration to make it through the exams. Not sure whether we should notify the school or not.

bigTillyMint · 13/04/2017 11:01

Sympathies Littleho Flowers i would notify the school - definitely worth letting them know that she might be a bit wobbly.
Congrats on her passing the test.

Errol, your DD sounds resilient, which is great!

aginghippy · 13/04/2017 11:03

Sorry to hear about your mum LittleHo Flowers

I would notify the school. What harm can it do? If they know, the teachers will be able to give them extra support, if needed.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/04/2017 12:33

Flowersthat's tough, LittleHo. Definitely a good idea to let the school know. Hopefully, although it's hard for you, your kids will take this in their stride.

And congratulations to your DD on the test, one less thing to worry about.

LittleHo · 13/04/2017 12:59

Thanks everyone. I'll let the school know. I guess they can then act if it affects dd or ds during the exams.

True about the driving test being one less thing to worry about. It will free up 2 hours a week which will be very helpful.

dingit · 13/04/2017 13:12

My condolences to you and your family littlho Flowers

Dd has a little help today with maths revision.

So sorry to hear about your mum Littleho Flowers it must be so tough on you all. Look after yourselves and definitely tell the school xx

teta · 13/04/2017 17:38

I'm so very sorry LittleHo.Was your Mum very close to your children? If so they have been very blessed Flowers. It is a really good to notify the school just in case.Well done on the driving test result!

LittleHo · 13/04/2017 18:59

They were unusually close, as my Mumr was like a second mother to them. With four children so close in age she helped bring them up.

They have been very blessed. I'm worried that being so close and losing her will impact on their exams, especially as I have not been at home as much as usual.

Love the helpful cat dingit Smile.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 13/04/2017 19:02

I'm sorry for your loss LittleHo x

Sorry to hear about your Mum, Littleho. Flowers

I would definitely mention it to the school.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 18/04/2017 20:40

How's everyone doing with Easter revision?

I saw a great Facebook post the other day which said Easter is Not a Holiday, it is a chance to save your year and turn your grades around!
Cue cute pic of toddler telling this to herself in the mirror with wagging finger!

DD has been doing lots of Art, with some nice vibrant red pics of tomatoes today. She has her art exams first in May and other two subjects in June. Getting the balance of revision right for them all can be tricky as art so time consuming.

DS(15) also has exams straight away when he goes back, next Wednesday, and also an important brass band competition coming up. Not much evidence of revision yet, but I do hear some cornet notes drifting down from upstairs!

DS was away in Scotland last week with DH, and DD and I had a few days visiting family, so I'm hoping we can have a productive few days this week. I also have an essay to write for my counselling course, or two, but getting one done would be good!

ono40 · 18/04/2017 21:06

Easter is over for us here, back to school today, five weeks and counting until school is over, 10 weeks until exams are over!

DS came home after his third lesson and cracked on with some work revision, then his gf came over after dinner and we all went on a bike ride. It's also important to have some relaxation.

DH has just announced that in the next 10 weeks, he is overseas for work for 6. Harrumph....I am feeling mightily pissed off Angry not jealous at all

ErrolTheDragon · 18/04/2017 21:22

DD was back today too. I think she got quite a lot of work done, though at one point revising astrophysics it seemed that she might have broken physics, and got quite cross about not being able to multiply zero by infinity. This evening she mostly spent making a total mess of the kitchen, sugar, flour and buttercream everywhere cakes for Further Maths tomorrow - they have a rota. It's probably a good thing she didn't take after DH and me and do chemistry...Grin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 18/04/2017 22:03

Wow, 5 weeks of school, 10 weeks til exams over, that's a sobering thought ono, though I haven't checked exactly how long it all is for DD here.
I just know Art is in May and the other two in June.
Hopefully DD will put it all on the family calendar before the end of our Easter break.
I know a bit how you must feel with your DH working abroad as my DH gets some nice trips away with his work. They sound almost like holidays to me as they are wildlife watching trips where they are shown all the best nature reserves, but he assures me it's all work!

ErrolTheDragon · 18/04/2017 23:06

There's work and theres work.EnvyGrin

DD's first exam is May 17th, then they're scattered with some clumping (though no more than one a day) through till (I think) pretty near the end of June.

bigTillyMint · 19/04/2017 06:09

DD was back at school yesterday with a practice exam first lessonGrin

DS starts GCSES on 15th May (3 and a bit weeks awayShock) and DD starts after half-term so she has 7 weeks, but then they are tightly packed into 3 weeks. I am actually counting down the 10 weeks till it's all overGrin

Ono, I don't envy you being left on your own in exam season. DH has a LOAD of crap going on in his job ATM, so that won't help!

teta · 19/04/2017 09:03

We have had several days of relatives.Dd's 18th tomorrow, more overseas relatives for a couple of days.My parents did papers with ds1 while they were here and dd worked upstairs.I will be glad when all the visitors stop and I can relax without changing sheets and constant cooking.
Schools back on Monday and finishes on the 21st ( I think).Revising ones look pale and worn out, with constant colds.I've decided I really hate common entrance .12 year olds should be out playing not revising.I'm looking forward to my other 2 kids returning from Canada with dh tomorrow. Its the first time my 'baby' has been away from me.
