Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

DS2 has just got up, he's losing no sleep over these results... Grin

I think the time between exams finishing and results day has gone much quicker than when DS1 went through it all 2 yrs ago!

Horsemad · 16/08/2017 13:02

Just noticed University of Nottingham IS now in Clearing.

Guess they were just waiting before publishing their list.

LineysRun · 16/08/2017 15:20

The grade boundaries were released a few hours ago.

DS says Maths is fucked. As in, he'll get a E. Biology and Physics ok. He's really down now.

I'm not sure I can take this much longer.

Is anyone's DC doing Chemistry? The grade boundaries seem high.

NotAClooo · 16/08/2017 15:28

I thought the exam boards say that they weren't going to release grade boundaries in advance of results this year (read article in Independent saying that it was to reduce worry and protect mental health) ?

sadusername2 · 16/08/2017 15:47

Have you got a link liney? Just had a look on aqua website and nothing. Having said as I have no idea what mark she has got.Does it matter?

MirabelleTree · 16/08/2017 15:51

Liney Flowers Hold your nerve, nothing done till it's done and don't forget the articles about numbers being down so more flexibility. You can do it, deep breaths , this is the worse bit now and you're nearly through it, He can't be sure until he sees the result and if ( and that's a big if) he's right, as Horsemad says there will still be options.

What's his plan for tonight?

MirabelleTree · 16/08/2017 15:53

Think there has been a leak potentially for one board which is unfortunate to say the least.

BehindTheBlueDoor · 16/08/2017 15:54

Edexcel boundaries document appears to have been leaked and is on Twitter. The exam boards have not released the documents officially as in previous years to alleviate stress the day before results released. At this stage of the game I'm not sure grade boundaries help tbh.

Horsemad · 16/08/2017 16:15

You are right BehindTheBlueDoor, what's done is done.

Liney, try and distract yourself, Cake what will be will be.

dingit · 16/08/2017 17:07

Liney, there have been tears here over the maths grade boundaries Sad

There is also a rumour on tsr that the practical physics results have been fucked up by edexcel?

Dds boyfriend is suffering from an upset stomach ( down to stress I think)

Horsemad · 16/08/2017 17:14

Liney & dingit which exam board have put up their grade boundaries?

dingit · 16/08/2017 17:36

Edexcel

Auntpetunia2015 · 16/08/2017 18:00

Ok so DS "can't remember " which exam board he sat...give me strength!

He seems highly un bothered...I feel sick. I think the fact that both his first and insurance are already showing in clearance is giving him some sort of hope..is he right ?

LittleHo · 16/08/2017 18:16

Just posting to wish you all the best of luck. Wine

Hope all your children get their grades and first choices.

LineysRun · 16/08/2017 18:34

Gosh yes, it's all a big leak apparently, not an official release of information. Really sorry about that. But is it 'real'?

bathildabagshot1 · 16/08/2017 19:05

Anyone else holding their tongue with DC tonight?

DD2 has been to the beauty therapist and hair dresser ( I paid) to give her something to do, but is still climbing the walls.

I really have to keep my mouth shut, but if she had stayed in more, worked less and actually studied all the time she sat at her desk, she might not be in this position. She knows it to, but me saying so is not helpful.

LineysRun · 16/08/2017 19:11

bathilda, yeah, there really isn't any point you having that conversation tonight.

I just want to slap GOVE round the face with putrid herrings.

bathildabagshot1 · 16/08/2017 19:13

Me too. It was so much nicer for DD1 who did AS and A2.

Shall we have gin? I'll give DD one too lol.

MirabelleTree · 16/08/2017 19:29

You need the slap Gove app, that will pass some time !

HSMMaCM · 16/08/2017 19:52

I'm drinking wine 🍷 Grin

Auntpetunia2015 · 16/08/2017 20:05

Pour me a glass of anything alcoholic Wine. DS hasn't moved from his computer all day chatting to mates and shooting things. ..personally I feel slightly sick

FreedaDonkey · 16/08/2017 20:30

I drove myself mad reading the Student room and checking grade boundaries last year.

Fingers crossed for you all tomorrow , we have a FB group for results day, clearing, etc if anyone is interested

I feel like having a rant.

I believed in and supported the state school system. My ExH left us when DS was only 3, for OW. I worked to give him a better life. I paid for private tuition when I could as he was 'gifted and able' at primary, to stretch him. I poured over admissions criteria for weeks, in my urban area. I still keep his letter admitting him to his secondary school.

He's smart. Lovely. Funny. He went through bog standard comp and came out top three at GCSE.

He went to a good sixth-form college.

Then it all went tits up. The new spec was puzzling the college. There wasn't enough revision material. The practice papers were lacking. Some of the material challenged the teachers. There were mistakes on exam papers that threw kids off their stride mid-exam. Kids who were 'Oxbridge potential' - and who were sent on lovely visits to colleges courtesy of the college's 'aspire' programme - are now looking down the barrel of failure.

My son took three hard science A levels and that's supposedly what our country wants and needs. He's good at these subjects. If you talk to him, he's clearly in command of them.

Well done, GOVE. Slow hand clap to you.

Horsemad · 16/08/2017 21:21

Politicians will always cock it up.

LineysRun · 16/08/2017 21:32

I should be their Dream Parent in the state sector. But I'm just so disillusioned and fed up.

Shall I have a Wine - oh go on then.
