Grin at opening all the milks! I hope DD wouldnt have done that, but you never know!

My stomach is churning a bit as DD is due to go away for a week v early on Tues (I will have to drop her to a friends about 4am) but all is not calm amongst the girls going and particularly between DD and a couple. Gulp!

Horsemad · 02/07/2017 16:25

I always track family's/friends' flights, I love that we have technology to do this!

teta · 02/07/2017 17:36

Btm that sounds a bit traumatic. Can they make up before.....for the sake of the holiday?
Dingit I would have done exactly the same at that age Grin.
I've just texted Dd to say no boys are allowed in the holiday house and she answered with a grin and said of course not!!!
But the air con wasn't working in her room So had to sleep with her friend and that they have just had a power cut.House is totally computerised!!

Horsemad · 03/07/2017 22:36

Just tracking my DS1's flight. Will never get over the excitement that technology allows this! Grin

bigTillyMint · 04/07/2017 06:54

Just logged in to watch DD's flight - it supposedly left 5mins ago! Thankfully I did not have to drop her at 3am - friend came to pick up Smile

MirabelleTree · 04/07/2017 07:01

I live the flight tracking ! Not loving waking up to the news North Korea has fired a missile towards Japan. DD has been away for a month now, it is very calm and the house is pretty tidy!

Glad you didn't need to do the airport run BTM.

HSMMaCM · 04/07/2017 07:27

Mirabelle hopefully your DD doesn't read the news and won't worry.

I was having a chat with DD about etiquette of sharing a house with 2 other people (me and DH). She was going on about being an adult and leading her own life. I said I understood she was leaving in September blah blah blah and was trying not to say "While you are under my roof young lady ......".

I think there is an underlying tension while she awaits her results, to see what happens next.

bebumba · 04/07/2017 07:46

I will be using flight tracker this afternoon. 😀
I have resisted the 'while you are under this roof' line so far too. I have had to bite my tongue a couple of times!

MirabelleTree · 04/07/2017 08:07

I think she is too busy communing with sea rays, penguins and dolphins by the look of what just came through on
Line 1 !

Can see that whilst it is lovely to have the whole summer it is a time of uncertainty for them which can lead to a level of uncertainty, friend was saying her DD is very grumpy. She is terrified about the idea of going to university bless her.

Much as I will be looking forward to seeing DD again after nearly 3 months I am rather jealous of you all who have them going off in September. Just grateful some of her friends are also doing Foundation Art or having a gap year so she'll have some people around. She's going to hate being back here for a year, will be like a caged tiger having had her freedom!

Horsemad · 09/07/2017 22:04

My DS is 10mins from landing Grin I am ridiculously excited watching Flight Radar!

How are all our travellers doing?

HSMMaCM · 09/07/2017 22:09

Horse if dd ever gets organised enough to fly anywhere, I will be watching. All I'm getting at the moment is:

  • when I get to uni you won't know what time I'm getting in
  • when I get to uni you won't know who I seeing
  • when I get to uni you won't know if I've left my clothes on the floor.
  • etc.
Grin

Grin yeah, but bet she'll miss your 'interest' in her life!!

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2017 06:40

HSM, that sounds familiar!

DD comes home tomorrow - seems to have had/still having a fantastic time Smile

MirabelleTree · 10/07/2017 06:58

Grin HSM. Had to put some money in DD's account yesterday. She had been really careful about her money and tracked it in an app but I think all the extra 000's with Yen and dyscalculia do not mix! She was really upset as had tried hard, had to tell her to chill. She muttered something about her summer project which I think is a good sign.

HSMMaCM · 10/07/2017 07:49

Mirabelle - she tried. That's the main thing.

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 10/07/2017 07:55

Mirabelle, I think she is doing amazingly well managing on her own all this time! How lovely that you told her to chill Smile

MirabelleTree · 10/07/2017 10:13

She's done well and let's just say that £100 is actually a small price to pay for a house that stays remarkably clean and tidy in comparison Grin

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/07/2017 13:59

DD travelled up to Scotland yesterday and is starting her summer wildlife project this morning.
Just heard from her that she managed to catch her morning bus OK, so that's a good start!

bigTillyMint · 10/07/2017 14:45

Sounds like a bargain Mirabelle Grin

DD just rang to ask if she should get a cab to the airport to come home tomorrow at the cost of 40 euros. We said yes as she will have to go at about 4am on her own!

MirabelleTree · 10/07/2017 14:58

That sounds very exciting Juggling, it's great to hear what they are all dohng.

BTM that was my thoughts exactly! Agree you definitely don't want her on her own at 4am !

teta · 11/07/2017 08:31

Dd had her final Grade 8 Lamda exam yesterday. She has been revising the Book 1984 and Shakespeare all weekend. It was strange to see her in revising mode again.Leavers ball was lovely and they all looked so beautiful. But why do they all persist in piling on masses of Foundation ,contour and glitter? They don't realise what beautiful glowing skin they have?There.....i've turned into my mother😁
Mirabelle your dd sounds really good with money if that's the first time she has run out.Japan is really expensive.
Juggling that sounds really exciting and brilliant experience.
BTM your dd sounds so careful and cautious.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 11/07/2017 09:14

Thanks all! Yes, DD seemed to have a great first day at the Wildlife Park yesterday. She's just there for the week but think it will be good experience for her, and help get her ready for hopefully Zoology course in September. She's also got a couple of days of summer project work experience at Swansea University, which could be where she goes for Uni, so that will be especially interesting and helpful. Also a few ideas for volunteering she can do locally over the summer with various nature reserves, parks etc. I'm also going with her for the few days in Swansea but will leave her to get on with the project obviously, whilst I have a look around and have ice-creams on the beach. Probably check out the Dylan Thomas museum and a couple of others they have.

AmITwirly · 11/07/2017 14:14

Lovely to hear what everyone's DCs have been doing so far this summer. What a relief for them to have some time off.

My travellers arrived home safely. Despite jet lag, DS1 then went off immediately to a music festival for a few days. Today he's doing the first day of training for what we hope will lead to a summer job at a local café.

Had to pop in to their school yesterday and it was very weird seeing all the DCs still working hard in their school uniforms. School seems like a very long time ago....

JugglingFromHereToThere · 11/07/2017 15:38

Yes, feels strange here Twirly still getting DS(15) up each day and off to school. Feels like we should all have broken up for summer along with DD.

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2017 19:51

Well DD arrived back safe and sound, had a good hol and is off again on Sunday morning! Am v impressed with those doing holiday work.
