Are we twins?
Congratulations to your dd Btm!
Well done on surviving A levels.
Errol your dd is normally so calm and rational, a slight wobble is completely normal. Can we name the next thread ' coddling the Molly' ?
Just love it.

dingit · 22/06/2017 20:32

Teta Grin
You can be my mn twin, trust me you wouldn't want to be my real life identical twin.
Dd is going to the German equivalent of Magaluf Shock, so something else to worry about.

Horsemad · 22/06/2017 22:38

I have just ironed DS's last ever school shirt - it is the end of an era! Shock

dingit · 23/06/2017 06:57

Disaster here this morning. Just received phone call to day my dd has been taken to hospital seriously ill. They are in Corfu, due to fly home this morning. Haven't told dd, I'm packing her off to school and then coming home to sob, I feel so far away and helpless.

dingit · 23/06/2017 06:58

That was all wrong. Df ( her grandad) has gone to hospital.

Horsemad · 23/06/2017 07:09

Flowers dingit. Are you going to have to fly out there?

ErrolTheDragon · 23/06/2017 07:18

Flowersoh dingit, well done for holding it together till you'd got DD off to school.

dingit · 23/06/2017 07:58

She knows something's up. The phone went at 6 this morning. I told her their flight has a really long delay and they need me to feed the cat. She heard me say hospital ( sharp hearing, as we are a floor above her). I said grandad feels poorly, and has gone to see the ships doctor before they fly ( they are on a cruise).
Just heard again, think he's got pneumonia and his heart is struggling too Sad

Horsemad · 23/06/2017 08:09

Really feel for you dingit, I've undergone some health tests (ultrasound and biopsy) throughout DS's exams which I hadn't anticipated needing and it has been stressful making sure he didn't find out to avoid any worries/distractions for him.

I hope your Dad responds to treatment. Big hugs. X

dingit · 23/06/2017 08:22

Sorry to hear that horse. I hope all is well now x

teta · 23/06/2017 08:37

Oh Dingit I'm sorry you have had bad news today.Im sure your father will be being well cared for. Will you fly out there? How many more exams does your dd have?
Flowers Horsemad.
Anyone else's Dd terrified at the thought of the Maths C4 today?

dingit · 23/06/2017 08:52

Dd is dreading c4. She has chemistry and physics next week.

At the moment I'm not planning to fly out, my sister is with them fortunately.

Thanks for your support.

Horsemad · 23/06/2017 09:08

Thanks dingit (and Teta for the flowers Smile ) I am ok; got to have an MRI this afternoon but all should be well, fingers crossed.

Just dropped DS at school. He is not looking forward to C4. He expected C3 to be the easier out of the two and as he had such a miserable time with that one he is automatically assuming C4 will be worse.

We didn't speak much on the journey, I have said all the usual platitudes, so hopefully some of it will sink in!

It is all systems go after his exam.

Got to choose uni accommodation!! - must be done by 30/6.

Needs a suit for Leavers' Ball.

Needs to open a current account

Needs holiday insurance and clothes, etc. Departs next Sunday.

Nothing like leaving stuff to the last minute, is there... Hmm

Thoughts to all still going through the A level maelstrom - this too shall pass Smile

LittleHo · 23/06/2017 09:23

Flowers dingit Thinking of you and know how you must feel.

Lets hope all goes well with C4. dd is sitting the OCR board.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/06/2017 11:02

Uh oh - DD texted to say C4 hardest paper yet.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/06/2017 11:02

(Thats edexcel, which is what most do)

LittleHo · 23/06/2017 11:09

OCR C3 - some tricky questions.

HSMMaCM · 23/06/2017 12:02

Flowers to everyone going through difficult times.

DD's comments on drama were "It was okay. I'm happy with what I wrote". I'm taking that to be very good news.

Exams all over for us now.

OP posts:
Horsemad · 23/06/2017 12:38

We are done!!!!

OCR C4 was 'a decent paper, to be fair' according to DS.

tobee · 23/06/2017 12:55

Waiting and waiting for a message from ds (he's texted me almost immediately after other exams). It's drama. Really worried about it for some reason ( me not him). It's 3 and 3/4 hours because he gets max extra time. He should have finished by now surely??? It's soooo long, he's barely slept in the heat all week, running on fumes and caffeine. Was very, very grumpy last night. Sad

aginghippy · 23/06/2017 13:57

Flowers dingit hope your dad makes a speedy recovery.

DD said edexcel C4 was fine, a few mistakes, but nothing like as bad as C3.

She still has physics and chemistry next week, so it's not over yet.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 23/06/2017 14:01

Thinking of you dingit

DD and friends have their art department exhibition this evening so we can all go and see and celebrate their fabulous creativity. Then a meal out for the Y13 art leavers which is a lovely extra. Then next Friday the whole year Leavers meal. So glad they have such nice things to look forward to and to mark the end of an era.
Only two exams to go and one of those is general studies, the other her final Biology on Monday. So Tuesday we're all done!
DH has been away but home tomorrow - I hate it when everything's all down to me 😥
At least we have something to look forward to this evening with the art exhibition.

LineyWimey · 23/06/2017 14:18

dingit Flowers and hey all

DS said edexcel C4 was awful. Every question involved mathematical term E, and not in an elegant way, and he couldn't do the final two at all.

So three papers and feels he hasn't been able to demonstrate anywhere near what he is able to do.

University place slipping away. So sad. He was 'able and talented' in maths throughout secondary, and he's worked for these exams. I feel quite weird about it all tbh.

dingit · 23/06/2017 14:20

Here is the statement from Ofqual www.gov.uk/government/news/allegations-of-malpractice-in-edexcels-c4-maths-paper

DD reckons it has been leaked.
