Hi all. Keep in touch with uni offers, new jobs, gap years, exams, etc. We can get through his Grin

Poor DD Errol. Is Physics this morning or afternoon?

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 09:23

Morning (which is good). Then nothing tomorrow, maths C4 friday morning, so not too bad. And it's cooled down quite a bit here (Lancashire) today - sorry its still hot further south.

ono40 · 21/06/2017 10:18

Errol, DS didn't sleep a wink on Thursday following his English but said he knocked out a good History paper on the Friday so I am sure your DD will be fine (although she will collapse in an exhausted heap tonight).

It was cooler here last night but I didn't sleep too well. Off to Manchester later but can't decide what to wear as the journey will be hot as hades (thanks Virgin trains) but I believe storms and torrential rain are forecast.

Good luck to all today!

aginghippy · 21/06/2017 10:52

Aah Errol, I hope she is ok today.

To me, one of the lovely things about teenagers is how they can be completely adult and responsible sometimes and childish other times.

My dd has the same exams, physics now and C4 on Friday.

Good luck everyone!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 11:19

Yes - especially when they know they're being child-like and accept mummy's help rather than being stroppy!Grin(and that 'help' may of course sometimes be a mild suggestion on how to get their act together rather than mollycoddling. But, sometimes the molly darned well needs coddling!)

GetAHaircutCarl · 21/06/2017 11:26

errol I think it is a good lesson to learn. Optimal conditions are all well and good but rarely achievable.

Discovering you can have a decent stab at something in less desirable circumstances is brilliant IMVHO.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 21/06/2017 12:03

Love it Errol, especially about coddling the Molly!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/06/2017 12:16

And - her verdict is it was a good paper - more like the old spec ones, which she preferred. Whew.
(This was AQA, someone on one of her group chats thought edexcel was hard.)

dingit · 21/06/2017 12:18

Dd did edexcel, but was far happier than after c3 maths!

aginghippy · 21/06/2017 13:05

DD also AQA said it was not as bad as expected.

HSMMaCM · 21/06/2017 13:10

Dd is weighing up the pros and cons of sweltering heat and revising or going to a friend's house with a pool.

I suggested maybe taking her revision and just diving in every 10 mins

DS says OCR Physics was ok, but he's dreading the 3rd Physics paper next week because the specimen papers are 'impossible'.

He has to get a B, and he's not sure how to revise effectively on the basis of the specimen papers.

LineyWimey · 21/06/2017 13:48

I bought Ben and Jerry's ice cream this morning. Seems to be going down well. Top tip Smile

aginghippy · 21/06/2017 13:52

Liney I bought some Ben and Jerry's yesterday after the disastrous maths exam. It definitely helped Smile

ono40 · 21/06/2017 13:59

Lol DS1 hates ice cream, smoothies and anything cold whereas DS2 can't get enough so Ben and Jerry's wouldn't work here.

Verdict on History (Edexcel, Tudors) was that there were a couple of horrible questions which everyone hated but luckily he'd revised that so was able to cobble together an argument.

I just realised when I picked him up that that would be the final time I would ever pick him up from school as I am away tomorrow Sad

dingit · 21/06/2017 14:44

Dd loves Ben and jerrys, but is avoiding it as she wants to look good in her bikini next week. I bought her a pretty pair of earrings today as the c3 consolation prize Smile

motherstongue · 21/06/2017 16:47

Hello all, I've been lurking, I was on the original GCSE thread 2 whole years ago! And here we all are again! I feel in a constant state of anxiety at the moment so it is nice to share.

DS also said C3 was difficult, he just wants to get C4 over with on Friday.

Had history today and appeared to be very pleased with how that went. Phew! What a relief.

Horsemad · 21/06/2017 18:34

DS has recovered his equilibrium and seems fine today.

We are going out for dinner on Friday night to celebrate end of exams Grin I did think he'd possibly prefer to go out with his friends but a lot of them don't finish until 29th so they are unavailable.

They are all off abroad as a group in Jul (I'm trying to blank that from my mind... ) so will celebrate then - hopefully sensibly. Hmm

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/06/2017 07:34

Hi motherstongue - where have you been! Very best of luck to your DS for his last few papers. Glad history went well for him today

ErrolTheDragon · 22/06/2017 12:28

DD slept for 11 hours straight last night, which is unheard of (not even when she was little)

HSMMaCM · 22/06/2017 13:36

Errol that's good. Came down this morning to find DD asleep on the living room floor. I guess her bedroom was too hot.

She's in exam 3/4 now, so she didn't speak this morning. She managed to eat her snickers bar though.

DD is finished WineCakeGin and is off out clubbing tonight with her fake ID and her friend who gave it to her (provisional) unless she can procure another from a different friend who hasn't finished yet!

Good luck to all those still revising, and to all the mums ministering unto them!

LineyWimey · 22/06/2017 18:34

I nearly lost my mind today. Stress upon stress. DS has maths tomorrow, then biology Monday and physics Thursday. He's feeling the pressure now, but working hard. Very proud of him.

I think next Friday is his Big Night Out. His group of friends are all 18 now luckily.

dingit · 22/06/2017 18:37

Dd has the same exams as your ds Liney. She is still very down since c3 Sad
She has her prom Friday, and off to Majorca on Sunday with her school chums. She just need to forget exams until results day.

dingit · 22/06/2017 18:38

Ah, no she has chemistry, not biology!
