Molio, could you get anyone to post his id? I'd check with the airline first though to see what's necessary.

Getting nervous now, next WEEK!! Shock DS has his driving test on Wed, so that should help to take his mind off it a bit, also 3 younger cousins from Ireland staying with us, so lots of fun and distraction! Grin and their mum for Wine with me! Wink

MrsBartlet · 04/08/2015 06:25

At least she waited until after her exams to get her first boyfriend mumslife! Now he can be a useful distraction rather than a worrying one Grin

Thanks Mindgone. easyjet insist on at least a provisional or passport (over 30 mins wait time on the phone Shock), so we're hoping DVLA will get a duplicate up here in time.... It should arrive by Tuesday 5.30pm but DS will have to leave on the Wednesday morning ferry so a good dollop of tension to add to pre-existing tension esp since the weather is terrible and ferries get cancelled a lot! I thought we could get part of our money back from a cancellation and redeploy it into the extortionate train fare but apparently either I or a sibling or a grandparent has to die first (very specific: eg cousins won't do) and even then it's at easyjet's discretion :) It's all getting a bit close for comfort. I prefer the not knowing stage tbh.

sassymuffin · 04/08/2015 16:48

On results day DD doesn't know whether to check track first or collect her results first. Her friends are equally undecided, she can collect her results from school from 8am. The reason she doesn't know what to do is that bizarrely her school do not put results in an envelope they just place them alphabetically on a desk. They did this for GCSE's and AS results and she hates this. Does anyone know which is best?

Horsemad · 04/08/2015 16:53

I think sometimes Track updates earlier, so DS will prob be checking Track first and then dashing to school (next town) if he doesn't get his firm or insurance. Confused

sassymuffin · 04/08/2015 17:15

Found some helpful tips from studential website particularly about buying a copy of the Independent newspaper, definitely think it may be easier to scan the newspaper for clearing courses than Ucas website.

Horsemad · 04/08/2015 17:34

I thought it was The Telegraph that was the only paper that has the list of unis in Clearing? Confused

gonegrey56 · 04/08/2015 18:24

Sassy muffin:
Last year my niece received confirmation via track that she had got into her firm choice. This was at about 6.30 am. On going into school later, she discovered she had missed a grade but had been accepted anyway so there was no panic/heartache etc . This was for UCL, so a top University .
Worth bearing this in mind ?

Horsemad · 04/08/2015 18:37

That's my thinking gonegrey56 - if Track updates and they've got in, then the grades don't matter and they can go to school at their leisure. But if Track shows they're in Clearing then grades will be needed, so quick dash to school Shock

eatyourveg · 04/08/2015 18:47

ds1 looked at track before going to school and noticed a congratulatory email from his firm before going into school. It really did take the pressure off.

MadameJosephine · 04/08/2015 18:50

Hello All, I've been trying to forget all about exams over the last few weeks but now we are in single figures on the countdown it's all starting to become very real again!

DS's school is opening at 7am on results day so I think we'll be checking track if it's updated early but if not then we'll be outside the door at 7. He seems to be pretty relaxed about the whole thing so far but I'm feeling really nervous.

Keeping everything crossed for a great set of mumsnet results

MrsBartlet · 04/08/2015 19:59

This is interesting. We though that track didn't update until 8am and dd really wanted to know before getting her results but she has to be at school at 8am. Given that if she doesn't get her firm then she is not going anywhere this year, I think she will be in pieces if she doesn't get it and she would much rather go to pieces in private!

sassymuffin · 04/08/2015 20:06

Horsemad I'm sure you are right and its the Telegraph....Id convinced myself that I was going senile because of that website Grin

HocusUcas · 04/08/2015 21:26

Gosh, Molio, that's tough. I am assuming there is no-one who can let themselves in to the house and send id by registered mail? (insert the bleeding obvious emoticon of your choice.) My only slight condolence is that one other thing to worry about is time not spent worrying about results. (not the slightest bit helpful, I know.) However, despite the easy jet policy I would advise against immediate members of family sacrificing themselves on the altar of photo id. Grin

Not sure I have any other suggestion, but I hope it works out well.
Hocus.

Horsemad · 04/08/2015 21:34

I'd got it into my head that they found out just after midnight! I think that came about because someone I knew received a congrats email from their Uni in the early hours and I mistook that for Track updating Smile

circular · 04/08/2015 21:49

Also keep hearing different times for track update. School not open till 9am here, and only 15min drive, so hoping DD will know first. Like your DD MrsB'she doesn't wan nothing other than firm choice. Not quite sure how achievable that would be next year if rejected this year, doesn't bear thinking about.
Meanwhile, plenty of extra work shifts and 18th birthday coming up proving a welcome distraction.
Are most of you going with your DC to collect results? DD decided she wants me to go as 1) She doesn't want to drive if either very sad or on a happy high and 2) to be on hand to speak to the immediately available careers teacher if she's in bits.

Horsemad · 04/08/2015 22:07

We're away next week, coming home the night before results due. Hoping being away will be a distraction... Wink

Hi everyone. We are heavily into crash cookery lessons. Lots of food being produced. A lot of this process makes me feel a bit helpless but at least I can do something about the self sufficiency part of life.

I can confirm that track updated at 7.30am last year and we managed to get through at 7.34am. Grin

seimum · 04/08/2015 22:23

When DD2 got her results (OK it was 4 years ago), track updated with her result approx. 7.30am. As school not open until 9am, DS will be checking track first.

Molio - I have managed to successfully fly to Dublin and back using DS's passport and a (very faded) work pass as ID (not intentionally, I might add!). However, I think that was with Aer Lingus, who are more flexible than some of the others.

eatyourveg · 04/08/2015 22:37

3 years ago it was around 7.20am and school didn't open until 11 so I for one was glad it was early.

NiceCardigan · 04/08/2015 22:46

DD2 got her results 4 years ago track was working initially but then it crashed and went down for hours. We got results from school and she'd missed her offer by one mark. Tried to phone first choice uni but couldn't get through and then track finally came back up at 3pm and confirmed she'd got her first choice. DD2 then promptly burst into tears of relief. Not an experience I am in a hurry to repeat!

Molio · 04/08/2015 23:13

Hocus seven DC are up here at the moment and there were inevitably instant suggestions as to who was the most expendable. No consensus though as yet. seimum thanks. We do have two other passports here but one is a different gender and the other is bearded on the photo so would require rapid hair accelerator or a joke shop beard - neither readily to hand :(

Last year ucas had updated by 6.40am.

AtiaoftheJulii · 05/08/2015 09:00

Nerves increasing here too. Dd1 can collect her results from school between 8 and 9 (and then dd2 can get her AS results from a different school between 9 and 10, so we will probably drive them both and aim for nearer 9 than 8), so I guess she will have checked track by then. She's working most days so hopefully being distracted.

Had to book a dentist appt for dd2 and because we're away after results, the only day I could get was results day at noon. She's not impressed.
