Another non sleeper here. Do you think we should arrange a meet on 19th August, to party all night, as none of us are going to get a winks sleep!

TheWordFactory · 17/06/2015 07:52

Clubbing dingit!!!!!

auntpetunia · 17/06/2015 07:56

Wide awake at stupid O'CLOCK club member reporting in. Ds been up since 5 going over and over chemistry formula and symbols and periodic tables. He didn't even look at graphics but has just explained that once he's finished chemistry then he's got 2 hours of graphics revision in school. I need this week to be over now.

Good luck everyone today, only physics for us on Friday.

. Ds is planning on going shopping tomorrow for presents for his scribe. This wonderful woman has sat next to him through every exam written everything out he says and always tells him he's done brilliant . Question would it be odd for me to by her a present as well?

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2015 08:03

Not at all AuntPSmile

DD took in presents for 2 members of staff who have supported her brilliantly for the last couple of years. And her friends took in some for their favourite teachers.

tbtc · 17/06/2015 09:19

One more exam for DS, but it's not until Monday so he's going to do an hour a day. Was great to see him out yesterday with his mates.

He's written a cv to send to Subway to hopefully get a part time job.

TranquilityofSolitude · 17/06/2015 09:20

Tears this morning - "I love Chemistry but hate exams." Nearly over and it feels like the longest marathon...

DD took in some presents yesterday, and not just for her form tutor but also other teachers who have really made a difference. I don't think it would be at all odd to buy a present for someone like a scribe auntpetunia.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/06/2015 09:33

Arrgghhh results day. I remember the night before collecting DD1's A level results. She went to bed and left me obsessively flicking between UCAS track and the Student Room.

Graphics here too. Last exam, hurrah! Taking in a prezzie for her form tutor and some flowers for the exams officer who has been absolutely brilliant.

Good luck to all who are taking exams today. See you on the other side Grin

Eve · 17/06/2015 09:40

last exam today .. and last day in school uniform for DS today. Spent 20 mins arguing to get him to let me take a photo as I wnat one to go alongside the 1st day school photo!

I'm quite emotional over it!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/06/2015 09:50

You must be especially pleased it's nearly over, woolly. Your DD has held up ok since half-term? Good thing for her the graphics was late as its important to her.

I don't think DD plans on any presents - the teachers who she really rates are mostly ones she'll probably have in sixth form. She was a bit pissed off when she saw the latest newsletter that the stressy biology teacher is retiring.

After a day successfully doing 'nothing' , today will be a mix of nothing and maths.

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/06/2015 11:01

Thanks Errol she is doing really well. The medication has made a huge difference.

She's talked me into hosting a BBQ next week for 15 of her friends rather than the one she was planning for results day as she is a bit apprehensive about her results. I may need lots and lots of wine for both days.

DH took the final school photo despite DDs protestations. I've just got to dig out the first day photo to compare it with now. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 17/06/2015 11:16

A BBQ now sounds like a really great idea - hope the weather obliges.

I've forgotten, is she wanting to stay at her current school or go elsewhere? I'd hope that in the circumstances there would be allowance made if she hadn't made the normal required grade on some subjects. Has the school discussed this with you at all?

TheWoollybacksWife · 17/06/2015 11:41

She's planning to change schools for sixth form. We have informed the new school but we need to follow up with a letter once she has finished her exams, so that's on today's "to do" list. Her current school has offered to write letters of recommendation if she doesn't get her required grades. She needs 5 Cs minimum, with at least a B in Art, DT and English for specific A levels. They should still be achievable, but English Lit paper 1 was one of the exams she missed so we are relying on mitigating circumstances a bit.

The new school sent her their new sixth form prospectus and they aren't offering graphics A level next year. They do offer product design which she is happy with and there is the possibility of an Extended Project so not altogether disastrous.

OddBoots · 17/06/2015 13:06

That is us done - well, ds done really but it feels like an 'us' at times.

ds is still at school until the end of next week - he has a practice job interview tomorrow and and introduction to parenting on Friday!

LineRunner · 17/06/2015 13:08

How did today's exams go for everyone?

DS appears to be having a rest day. Don't blame him.

OddBoots · 17/06/2015 13:12

ds claimed that Chemistry today (OCR 21st C) was easy and that they pretty much gave them the answers in the questions. I find that as worrying as if he had said it was really hard but there is nothing to be doing now so I haven't commented. Roll on 20th August.

dingit · 17/06/2015 13:22

Odd boots edexcel chemistry was deemed quite hard by dd and chums.
Physics left. She's panicking as she got a B on her last mock, but predicted an A.

LotusLight · 17/06/2015 13:27

Hope everyone is doing fine. We just ordered 3 economics AS books and one for classics. I am not sure I like the idea of holiday home work when your GCSEs are just ended. It seems a bit mean.

Ginandtonictime · 17/06/2015 14:12

Thats it for us too! Last Classics paper done and dusted. Metaphorically speaking - I'm putting the chairs on the tables and switching off the lights!

Ladies (and gents?) you've been wonderful - a real comfort and support. I'll be around if anyone wants me, otherwise I'll see you on results day threads ...

And by way of a farewell: here is my beautiful first-born on his first day at school ... and his last ... (just don't tell him I showed you ok?)

Gin- he looks a lot happier on the first day Grin

Horsemad · 17/06/2015 15:28

Lovely pics Gin Smile

Eve · 17/06/2015 15:31

we wont tell Gin - mine has a similar hands in pockets slouch.

Anyone else admit to shedding a tear.

bigTillyMint · 17/06/2015 16:21

Woolly glad to hear your DD has survived it allSmile

Gin, the pics are lovely. I didn't get one of DD yesterday but she made a fab video of her times at secondary school and particularly yesterday which she put on FB last night and is really great.

No tears here, just relief on my part at least!

Fairenuff · 17/06/2015 16:37

Great photos Gin. Enjoy the summer and try not to think about results day too much.

Ds said Chemistry (Edexcel) was better than he'd hoped as he knew something about the 6 mark questions, so could answer them and some of the stuff I tested him on yesterday came up too.

He's resting this evening then has all day tomorrow to revise for his last exam. Nearly there, can't wait.

Nydj · 17/06/2015 17:18

Your son looks gorgeous in both photos gin. I just gave mine a heads up about the need for photo of him in uniform on Friday after his last GCSE and was met with an eye roll but it is happening no matter what.

auntpetunia · 17/06/2015 17:27

I never thought to get pick of ds in uniform at easter so don't have a first and last day:( don't think he'd do it just for photo either.

Well Edexcel chemistry was ok not as bad as he thought so that's good. Graphics was ....oh right yeah I think I know what it means. So not sure about that. Leavers service here tomorrow and then physics is our last.
Don't know about DS I'm knackered. Deep breath and keep on for 2 more get ups.
