Only another week to go for DD, but I know some of you have two weeks.

Well, the final week is upon us. Thank the lord.

DH and I took a long walk with the dogs yesterday (DC revising, supposedly) and were saying how this really is the end of an era. The DC have passed over the first milestone on their way to adulthood.

Our emotions were a fizzy mixture of pride, relief and sadness.

DH, who already has a heightened sense of time slipping away, came back and played footie in the garden with them for hours. He even bounced about on the tramp and have hobbled off to work this morning. Dull bugger.

dingit · 15/06/2015 08:13

Lol word, at your dh on the trampoline!
Good luck to everyone today.
Not a good start to geek week here. Dd overslept ( wanted to be in early to see her science teacher), and went into panic mode. While she got dressed, I threw stuff in her bag and drove her there. Then realises she didn't have her history stuff, so I need to drop that up later, luckily en route to Tescos!
Just 4 more days ...

SmallMustard · 15/06/2015 08:27

Biology, RE, Psychology and English are the choices here.

SmallMustard · 15/06/2015 08:27

Good luck with Biology, Maths and History. Biology is one of the important ones here.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/06/2015 09:05

Dingit (and anyone else not sure what their kids should wear for induction/taster days) - might be worth checking the school website to see if there's a 6th form dress code posted and also if there's anything like a newsletter with photos to give you an idea what the norm is. I wish I could persuade my DD that dresses are more comfortable if the weather is warm but I'm sure she will be wearing black skinnies and docs or converse. Not sure if she'll wear one of her geeky t-shirts. Grin

dingit · 15/06/2015 09:15

Thanks Errol. I did have a little nosy at the sixth form photos, and they all seem to be in navy suits! I don't really want to buy one yet, ( in case I tempt fate), so I will need to persuade her in to a respectable length dress ( her choice would be arse skimming shorts) Smile

At breakfast today, DS looked defeated and said he just wants it all to be over now. It's taking its toll on both of us. All of you with twins, I salute you.

He'll be in Further Maths now, poor sod.

Littleham · 15/06/2015 09:29

The exam process is much too long winded Linerunner. So unfair. Sad

I'm still in limbo as my A Level dd has exams all week. Can't wait for Friday. Refuelled with Wine and chocolate last night.

Good luck for this week.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/06/2015 09:30

Hope it goes better than he expects linerunner. It's so wrong making an extra subject an ordeal, I feel quite angry on his behalf when I know it doesn't have to be that way.

cleanmachine · 15/06/2015 09:33

Really overjoyed that is the final week. So proud of everyone's dc, especially my own boy who seems to have become a man during this process.

LineRunner · 15/06/2015 09:34

Littleham, Errol, thanks. You have no idea how helpful your support has been, and that from the other posters on here. I think I will send some feedback to the school next week, because like Errol says, it shouldn't be such an ordeal.

tbtc · 15/06/2015 09:57

Just saying hello so I don't fall off the thread again.

History tomorrow. Not sure whether DS is revising right now or playing games. Might throw some money at him later for a Subway if it means he gets on his bike. We did run together yesterday though.

He tidied his room yesterday Shock

Eve · 15/06/2015 10:41

DS has graphics Weds as final exam, but is struggling to find motivation this morning to revise. He wanted to watch a film this morning, so shifted him of the sofa saying he can watch as many films as he wants from Thursday.

SugarPlumTree · 15/06/2015 10:54

Noble could I just ask you about the Further Maths and the lowest being a C ? If they don't get the 20% or whatever it is to get a C, what will it show on the exam certificate ? Thank you so much.

Was just on phone to friend as her DD arrived back from the exam upset, it is horrible to hear, poor things Sad

AmazingDisgrace · 15/06/2015 11:15

DS says the Further Maths paper was dreadful, really really hard. He'd been doing lots of past papers and getting A* in all of them but doesn't think so after today

dingit · 15/06/2015 11:32

Anyone heard back from Biology yet? I'm starting to worry that dd has panicked over all her exams, and flunked the lot Hmm

poppym12 · 15/06/2015 11:33

i picked ds up at 10.30, asked how it went and he looked at me and shrugged. nothing else has been said since.

poor sod looks pale, knackered and thoroughly fed up Sad

TranquilityofSolitude · 15/06/2015 11:41

DD did Edexcel Biology B3 this morning and said it was good if that helps dingit. Apparently it was good because there wasn't a question about genetic engineering.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/06/2015 11:46

Oh dear, sorry to hear that AG. I've lost track of who's doing what - is the FM all the AQA igce (aka 'level 2 cert) or are there other boards?

Not heard from DD yet, probably won't till she gets home.

doglover · 15/06/2015 11:55

Waiting to hear about Biology.

DD has Media this afternoon ....... she really wants to do well having got full marks in her course work :)

dingit · 15/06/2015 11:56

Omg they are all knackered aren't they? Hmm

Dd will be pleased re genetic engineering too.

AmazingDisgrace · 15/06/2015 12:02

I dont know if other boards do it Errol, all I know is his was the igcse one. They are all exhausted and stressed right now our poor DC

doglover · 15/06/2015 12:05

I agree, my dd is totally shattered :(

She has 2 exams today, 1 on Tues and 1 on Wed and finishes on Friday ............

ErrolTheDragon · 15/06/2015 12:06

DD's choice of celebratory activity for friday evening was 'sleep' (though of course it won't be really). I asked her if she wanted to do anything during the next three days (WTF did they have to schedule the FM for a mon and a fri?) - nope, not even a trip to waterstones.

However, DH and I were out on sunday she did check that her new walking trousers fitted, even down to loading up her backpack to check there wasn't anything that rubbed against the straps. That's about the most exciting thing she's done recently. Grin

dingit · 15/06/2015 12:35

Dds out partying Friday night, so I'm guessing Saturday will be sleep.
She took a few minutes out yesterday to try on her new bikini I picked her up in Next. It was lovely to see a smile on her face, and start to dream about her holiday Smile
