Only another week to go for DD, but I know some of you have two weeks.

I'm not sure what dd will need to wear! I was just going to suggest a summer dress for the grammar, the college won't give a damn what she wears.
I will be pleased to get to the end go this week. She's just gone steaming upstairs, saying she only got Bs for chemistry and physics and needs to do more revision. She is so stressed Hmm

poppym12 · 14/06/2015 18:36

well, 3 more exams here. last one on friday. after that, i'm going to forget about it until results time as sod all can happen until after then.

SugarPlumTree · 14/06/2015 18:38

Yes think it is entirely normal not to know. I ended up doing a different degree when I finally went to what I thought I would do in 6th form. DH has a Microbiology degree he has never used.

DD thinks she knows what she wants to do and has done for a couple of years now. But allows for fact she might change her mind.

dingit · 14/06/2015 18:39

That sound an excellent plan poppy. Sadly I'm a serial over thinker.
I'm determined to forget all about it though and have an amazing summer Smile

OddBoots · 14/06/2015 19:00

If anyone on here knows me offline (I'm fairly identifiable for various reasons) please don't share this but this is a pic of DS having his 3D model made in his prom suit. He is so pleased with the suit and can't wait to wear it to prom on the 26th but we won't have the model for about 3 weeks.

Awesome OddBoots - beam me up Scottie!

BTW dd says she's not worrying about results as there's nothing she can do now. That's my girl Smile

Horsemad · 14/06/2015 19:22

Great pic OddBoots Smile I can just see the red lining in the jacket!

Wonder if our local ASDA does it? Think DS might like that!

Horsemad · 14/06/2015 19:24

I think I'm going to try and persuade DS to stick with his A level choices, they will give him a broad base for various degree courses. He doesn't have a preferred subject instead, so might as well go with it.

LynetteScavo · 14/06/2015 19:51

Oohhh Very Envy of the 3D model!

DS1 is now the proud owner of a suit for the prom. Smile

DH took him to Next this afternoon. It's black and fits perfectly. He's chosen a thin black tie and black belt to go with it.

DH has now reached Mastery Level of Parenting. Smile

There is a reward for anyone who can persuade DS1 to get a hair cut

Fairenuff · 14/06/2015 19:59

I hope the 3D booths become more popular, I'd love to get one. I looked online and they are few and far between at the moment.

My ds is another without a clue what he wants to do. He's good at writing and art so he's thinking maybe something in advertising. For now he's picked the subjects that he is most interested in and good at for A level.

LynetteScavo · 14/06/2015 20:03

Ohhh, there is a 3D place near me, but they're not cheap.

SugarPlumTree · 14/06/2015 20:12

Oh wow, hadn't seen one of those 3D booths before, what a great idea to do it with Prom suits.

I do love Teenagers. DD has come in and asked if I can send her a photo of her in Prom dress, her friend has just asked her to send it so they can look for Prom shoes online. Nothing to do with the quiet word I had with her very organised friend who slept over last night, not at all .

OddBoots · 14/06/2015 20:16

No, sorry, they are quite expensive (£59) but DS really wanted one and he doesn't really ever want much.

DS knows what A Levels he wants to do, he's not too sure what he is going to do after them (other than something to do with numbers) but hopefully he will work that one out in the next little while.

bigTillyMint · 14/06/2015 20:18

Odd, the 3D model looks fab! I had never heard of it till you said about it. Not sure I would want a 3D model of me!

DD seems pretty definite about her subjects, and as she said history was/is the only exam she didn't mind revising for, I'm hoping that she enjoys it at A'level! She also has a few invites to Taster Days as she applied to so many sixth forms. Her top choice needs A's so she needs her back-ups!

bigTillyMint · 14/06/2015 20:27

SugarPlumWinkGrin My DD is still fretting over the Prom dress (not for 3 1/2 weeks) - we sized up for the one I found, but she's now saying there's too much material (too wide) on her boobs which makes them look even bigger, but she can't find anything else, so I need to find a way of crunching the fabric (it's kind of pleated) in more. And take it up. SignificantlyGrin And then she needs to get her shoes/purse, etc. Plenty of time though.

spudmasher · 14/06/2015 20:53

Hope she find a solution soon BigTillyMint . It so important that she feels happy with it all....but not easy getting to that point.

LynetteScavo · 14/06/2015 21:01

My DS plans to do whatever A'levels he does best in, then will travel the world sheering sheep and planting trees. He will go to uni many years later. Grin

LynetteScavo · 14/06/2015 21:05

That's just what he tells me...he tells everyone else he want to do physics, chemistry, maths and geography then do some sort of automotive engineering degree so he can design bikes. Grin

AmazingDisgrace · 14/06/2015 23:29

DS is planning on Maths, Physics, DT and History at AS He wants to do Architecture. Previous career plans have included Biochemistry (until he had a chemistry teacher he disliked) Games designer (all boys want to do this at some point?) and cartoonist. Grin

SugarPlumTree · 15/06/2015 06:23

BTM , hope you can find a way of sorting the fabric. Cleavage is not an issue DD has to deal with bless her ! Don't think she will take a bag as suspect she has persuaded organised friend to let her have some in hers. Think she knows she is very likely to lose one.

Good luck this morning for Maths and anything else that is on.

LineRunner · 15/06/2015 06:45

Thanks Sugar and thanks again to dingit, noble, Littleham, and to absolutely everybody for the words of advice and support (and sympathy!)

DS did a fair bit of preparation last night for Further Maths so feels a bit more confident. And I managed to sleep till 6am, which is an improvement.

TheCheeseAlarm · 15/06/2015 06:46

Right, all steam ahead for geek week as DS1 is calling this week. ( He is the epitome of all things geek.)

It's his least favourite paper today, Biology 3, then some time in a holding pen as it clashes with Further Maths paper 1.

He hoping to take Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science at AS. These are almost the only subjects the 6th Form he hopes to go to offers. If he doesn't get his grades then he'll take the first three plus Philosophy. He is very single minded.

Hope Further Maths goes well for all.

bigTillyMint · 15/06/2015 07:15

Good Luck to those with exams today.

DD is going in for History revision, if she can get out of bed!

LotusLight · 15/06/2015 07:26

Ours (twins) are going to do history, geography and economics and for the 4th one will do music and the other ancient history. They will decide which to drop after AS. One might read ancient history at university and do law after his degree like an older sister although it is early days yet to know. The other thinks hje might read geography at university like an older sister. Of course they might become postmen after they graduate like their big brother has done so far, in which case I don't think they will really need GCSEs although a driving licence next year would help so the bar is set pretty low, laughing as I type.

They wear suits (staying same school) for sixth form but I haven't had any instructions on what kind of suit and I have very strong view on liking very nice expensive suits but I also want them to wear something that will fit in with others so I expect we'll order a few on line and do some try ons later in July.

auntpetunia · 15/06/2015 07:52

Well the final week is here cheese loving geek week. Ds has been up since 5 reading and rereading his biology book to make up for the fact that he spent all day yesterday at the beach with friends who've all finished their exams. Biology is his best subject and he wants to take it for A level along with English Chemistry and he doesn't know what else. Hes got his sights on being a micro biologist.

He's just left singing Europe's " It's the final countdown !" Which he downloaded specially for this week Grin
