Only another week to go for DD, but I know some of you have two weeks.

Thanks for new thread.
We're still going up until the 19th too.
I resolved why my dd didn't find the maths paper difficult - she did a different board Grin so glad to know it's not because she missed a page.....

I am AMAZED how much information (about what was on the papers, etc) that you get from your dc - I'm lucky if I get "Fine" from dd when I ask how it went.

Littleham · 05/06/2015 20:59

This is the Maths Edexel paper (with answers).

DD said after her biology paper, she looked on Twitter and there was a 'shout out' to Darwin, who was apparently absent from the paper Grin

Hi everyone! Signing in so I know where the thread is.
DD relaxing tonight then physics, chemistry, maths and Hitler to make for a cheery weekend..........
Wine And Thanks for everyone. This is now dragging on. We have another week, but I know many of you have longer.....

ErrolTheDragon · 05/06/2015 21:22

No Darwin in biology and no balancing equations in chemistry? Shock

stayathomegardener · 05/06/2015 22:08

After a few glasses of wine would now be the time to admit I cheated in some exams. Writing it up my thighs on the basis I didn't think anyone would dare to lift my skirt high enough to check.
Fortunatly DD seems to have inhereted DH's genes and morals.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 05/06/2015 22:46

The "shout out" to Darwin is amusing me - good to see they still have some wit and humour. dd was surprised no evolution this year - though what do you expect with the Tories in power?!

AmazingDisgrace · 05/06/2015 22:52

stayathomegardener I may have been similarly guilty of thigh writing. Possibly maths equations. I had a terribly itchy thigh during my maths O level Blush

Was my DS the only one sitting Greek today? He did Greek this morning and biology in the afternoon. Greek was cool but he thought biology was tough. Not his strongest science but thinks he has done enough in his first paper to get the grade he wants. Didn't seem overly concerned though as went out for dinner with a couple of mates afterwards. They did do a post Mortimer though :-)

Hope everyone has a good weekend with DD and DS ready to attack whatever next week brings.

Shard11 · 06/06/2015 04:32

Another one here whose DD has Italian on the 22nd. Is this one of the last papers?

Ashbeeee · 06/06/2015 06:00

Weekend! Birthday weekend for exam-ridden DD. 16 and never been kissed? My arse.

3 more exams left. 3 more days of uniform. June 16th last day.

Then trying to find time in my mad work schedule for the settling in day, results day and enrolment day for the next school (which is performing arts so DD is already planning piercings and blue hair that she's been longing for but not allowed at strict Girls' school Hmm )

DD has insisted that she wants me and DH there when she opens the envelope. But I'm getting ahead of myself. deep breaths, one day at a time.

Oh god, my baby is going to be old enough to do the rudies and leave home.

Horsemad · 06/06/2015 06:23

DS2's last exam is Jun 16, but DS1 doesn't finish until Jun 24, so have to wait a bit longer for end of exam celebrations!

mrsdavidbowie · 06/06/2015 06:56

An interesting week here....ds is doing GCSEs with a broken pinned ankle, and was off colour from last Sunday...took him to drs yesterday and he has tonsillitis.
But seems to be happy with exams so far.
History "a piece of piss"according to him.

Dd starts A levels next week. She suffers from ocd and severe anxiety but her medication is helping. Please god she gets the grades. We desperately want her to go to uni.

LotusLight · 06/06/2015 08:58

Good luck to everyone's children. My twins share a room even though their sisters' old rooms are empty which is rather sweet even at 16. But one uses his sister's old room as his computer room/day room/study room. I see that over night he's cleared most of the GCSE papers which were all over the floor (as they only have one exam left now next week) so that's a good start. There are still piles of GCSE papers etc in 3 other rooms.

MrsD good luck to your A level one. My older 3 have all been through this. One got his place in clearing so even if the results for your daughter are not that great she probably will find somewhere to take her.

LynetteScavo · 06/06/2015 09:08

DS is claiming he didn't have the Hannah and the sweets maths question.

I actually feel sick.

He needed an A Sad

Horsemad · 06/06/2015 09:21

Which board did he do Lynette?

switchitoff · 06/06/2015 09:33

Lynette - Hannah and the sweets was Edexcel, so if your DS did another board, he won't have had it!

bigTillyMint · 06/06/2015 09:37

Oh Lynette, he was a lucky boy! Seriously though, which board did he do?

LynetteScavo · 06/06/2015 09:39

Yep, Edexel.

I'm taking it as a sign he's not supposed to do maths A'level. But he really wants to go physics, so needs maths.

bigTillyMint · 06/06/2015 09:43

Oh. Could he be teasing you? Do you know if he finished the paper?

switchitoff · 06/06/2015 09:44

I don't know if this is true but DS told me last night that typically the A boundary starts at around 60% and the A* boundary starts at around 83%. That's surprisingly low I think; but if it's true it shows that DCs can miss out a question / get several questions wrong, and still get a good grade.

So all is definitely not lost Lynette

Horsemad · 06/06/2015 09:48

Someone posted the Edexcel Maths paper and answers here Lynette, so he could check he did do the right one I suppose if he wants to.

Try not to worry (easier said than done, I appreciate).

bigTillyMint · 06/06/2015 09:49

I have no idea about the boundaries for that maths paper, but DS(Y9) came home with his Physics test paper (an old GCSE exam) which was marked as a C. He had barely got any of the answers correctGrin

LynetteScavo · 06/06/2015 09:50

After the exam he said it was OK, but he couldn't do all the questions. Which worried me a little, but he was never going to get an A*. He's boarder line A/B.

He was playing Minecraft when I asked him, so maybe he just doesn't want to discuss it. Or maybe he just realised he couldn't do it and moved quickly on without attempting it, and answered other questions correctly.
