Only another week to go for DD, but I know some of you have two weeks.

Actually i think it is Kanji, I do listen to DD, honestly.

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2015 15:14

Like others, DD has to return books/locker key - that's on the 19th which is the day of her last exam. Then 6th form induction is 22/23 I think. Apart from that, she has to go in one day to pick up some DofE kit.

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2015 15:16

OK so no-one seems to have to go back in properly. And it's not just me who's in the dark!

switch, I bet that school is popular with the teachers and pupilsWink

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2015 15:21

There wouldn't be much point in them going back, unless they were running some sort of lifeskills classes I suppose. The yr12s do have to go back and start on their A2 work straight away, apparently (which seems reasonable).

I think DD said that there was some work they could do over the summer for the subjects they were hoping to take for A2 but that must be optional. She was thinking of doing the geography as well as the comp sci as she's not at all sure she wants to do the latter. I guess this is one of the things they sort out on the induction day.

MrsSquirrel · 10/06/2015 15:43

DD now revising for rs by listening to Yusuf Islam on YouTube Hmm Grin

She has rs tomorrow, last exam is physics on Friday. Then a celebratory family meal with her favourite cousin, who has just finished her first year of university.
She will be going back to school for a meeting next week about the DofE expedition and prom the week after. That's it.

Horsemad · 10/06/2015 15:48

DS said History (Edexcel, American West) was OK.

His last exam is on 16/6 and then he's off until his four day Sixth Form Induction on 22/6 at the same school he's already at and a week of compulsory work exp on 29/6 but after that he's done.

Littleham · 10/06/2015 16:19

Slightly paranoid about all these exams next week. What are they(subject / boards)? Just checking whether we have missed something. DD adamant that she finishes on Friday. Confused

LineRunner · 10/06/2015 16:24

Next week DS has got Further Maths, General Studies ... Crikey my mind's gone blank Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2015 16:27

The only things after this week on the timetable for DD's school are the AQA level 2 cert in FM (igcse) x2; Polish U2 and 4 (doesn't say which board); Latin verse (doesnt say which board - then the week after D&T Product design, Italian and Latin.

Apart from the prod. Design those are all extracurricular or learned out of school.

dingit · 10/06/2015 16:35

History (Germany), biology chemistry physics left next week for ddHmm

TranquilityofSolitude · 10/06/2015 16:37

DD has the 3rd module of each science next week with Edexcel. I think other boards did 2 of the 3 modules in the first week of exams but DD has only done the core and two of the three additional modules so far. Biology on Monday, Chemistry on Wednesday, Physics on Friday.

Sidge · 10/06/2015 16:42

We're the same as dingit and tranquility - history and last paper for each of the 3 sciences.

No sixth form stuff as no sixth form at her current school, we're moving counties and she has induction day at her new sixth form at the end of June.

LineRunner · 10/06/2015 16:43

And WJEC History (American) is next week.

OddBoots · 10/06/2015 16:52

DS has biology (OCR 21st C) on Monday, History: British society (Edexcel A) and chemistry (OCR 21st C) on Wednesday.

Ginandtonictime · 10/06/2015 16:55

Other than Friday's physics and classics papers, we just have one next week - the 3rd and last paper of classics on Wednesday ... hallelujah!

Ringing silence from school re: list of books to return - they've organised a trip to thorpe park for all yr 11s on Monday 22nd to encourage a last hurrah before they all go their separate ways. I think this is also an incentive to return outstanding books that morning too.

Took DS shopping for his 16th birthday pressie last saturday - leather biker jacket anyone?

Next week ds has Further Maths x2, General Studies and Statistics. The last one is on Friday. It will be nice next week to be counting down in days rather than weeks.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/06/2015 17:14

Some of us def finishing on Friday Littleham. We have same left as you MrsS .... RS and Physics .... And counting in case you didn't all notice Grin

Fairenuff · 10/06/2015 17:21

Nice jacket gin, looks good on him Smile

Ds said history was great. I said are you being sarcastic (can't always tell Grin) and he said no, it was great, really. It was edexcel Germany 1918-1939 so one of the easier ones I think.

Anyway, that's out of the way now. He has philosophy and maths (calculator) tomorrow, then physics on Friday.

Next week he still has the last three science papers, biology, chemistry, physics and a final history paper. Finishes on 19th June.

He has been on study leave since half term and only has to go in for exams or optional revision sessions. So he's finished school as soon as his last exam is over.

TheWordFactory · 10/06/2015 17:38

DD said history was good. The 16 marker was bread and butter but there was a bugger 9 marker about General Custer, which DD didn't know much detail for. Hopefully all evens out.

DS said Latin literature was good. The question asking why Pliny was a 'Good Writer' stumped him a little. He plumped for discussing some literary devices used and that seems fair to me.

Next up, physics.

Mellifera · 10/06/2015 18:15

DD thought History was ok, Public Health.

RS Philosophy and Maths tomorrow, Physics on Friday.

DD's school has been keeping quiet about attendance after exams (DD has a work experience placement) so I emailed the head of year and was told they don't have to be there.
She's been on study leave since 11th May.
DD won't attend prom so after last exam next week Friday she'll be back at school on results day.

Littleham · 10/06/2015 18:19

Thanks everyone. All those exams next week are different boards as dd did AQA science and Edexcel Maths. I always thought that the boards did their papers on the same days but obviously not.

DD on a 'go slow' at the moment. She is finding it difficult to keep the momentum up for the last one.

Love the biker jacket. Smile

HSMMaCM · 10/06/2015 18:33

Btm- we had a full and detailed letter from the school about leaving dates, extra study time, etc. DD has sixth form days to go to and can go in and help with year six visit days. Some year 11s are helping out on school trips.

Gin- nice jacket.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 10/06/2015 18:35

Same boards as us Littleham with a few OCR's thrown in for good measure - for History and RS. Now we're nearly at the end I've finally got my head round it all Smile

bigTillyMint · 10/06/2015 19:41

Well DD said today was goodShock and has her hoodie and YearbookSmile

So it sounds like nobody goes in to do anything after the last exam apart from returning books, etc. Good.

Nice biker jacket!

ErrolTheDragon · 10/06/2015 19:44

Wonders will never cease, DD actually came out for a walk with us this afternoon. In the morning she was complaining about DH and I both suggesting she should get out a bit when she had to work, but eventually I think she realised that 2 clear days to revise U1 physics was plenty.

She's tired though, decided to shower now and see if that wakes her up or puts her to sleep.
