Gin, I was surprised how nice the M&S suits were Smile Sadly, they didn't have his size and we wanted to get it all today, but would definitely recommend them, lovely suits.

Littleham · 23/05/2015 14:30

Prom suit shopping doesn't sound like fun. I found the shoe shopping for the girls the most arduous bit (big debate about heel height with dd winning) - dresses were easy.

DD took yesterday and this morning off and is now revising History (with no prompting). Hurrah.

Popcorn for Eurovision tonight.

Littleham · 23/05/2015 14:31

Sorry about the cat Lynette. Sad

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2015 14:45

Ah, mummytime, DD did say something about having to give back all your books and getting signed off by every single teacher, so maybe she will get some information after that!

Spud, I AM in SE London! I think it needs more than a few darts (as she is petite with an hourglass figure and I am was when it fitted me a tall athletic? type build! If you could PM me the number, that would be greatSmile

I am looking forward to getting DS a suit for his Prom in 2 years as he is tall and broad and will look great in it unlike DH who looks best in shorts and a Tshirt

Sorry about your cat LynetteSad

spudmasher · 23/05/2015 15:31

I've sent you a pm bigTillyMint.

Fairenuff · 23/05/2015 15:54

Ds is currently parading around in his prom suit as we are just back from buying it and he's very happy Smile

I've now told him to hang it up before he spills something on it and to not grow at all for the next six weeks Grin

Horsemad · 23/05/2015 15:59

Where did you get it from Fairenuff? DS was set on a black one, but we've ended up with navy. (I'd wanted him to get navy but had said it was his choice so was pleased he preferred the navy one!)
He's now doing Geog revision.

Fairenuff · 23/05/2015 16:20

He just went for one he'd seen in Next, slim fit, black. Unoriginal but smart and it fits him really well. I liked the navy too and I also liked the midnight blue shirts but ds went for black and white.

Tbh they all looked good on him, he has a tall, slim figure with broad shoulders and narrow waist/hips so is a bit of a clothes horse. He's just coming out of that gangly phase and is filling out nicely. Or maybe he just looks good because I'm his mum Grin

He doesn't have a date for the prom but is going in a mixed girl/boy group of friends. They have round tables, each seating about 10, set in beautiful grounds with lawns which they all spill out onto when they're too hot from the disco.

It's so lovely for him to have something fun to look forward to.

HSMMaCM · 23/05/2015 16:24

DD's prom date dropped out at the last minute, but she seems much happier to be going with one of her girlfriends.

Sorry to hear about your cat Lynette. I took our 17yr old cat to the vets this week to find out she hasn't got long left, it's horrible.

My DS (all boys school) has no prom, party or anything to mark the end of exams/leaving

Horsemad · 23/05/2015 17:00

Sounds lovely Fairenuff Smile DS hasn't got a date either, but just going in a big group. He's really looking forward to the 'After Party' he says. Shock Shock

I'm not sure about that... Hmm

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/05/2015 17:04

Lynette sorry to hear about your cat Flowers

DD is going with a gang of her friends. Her dress fits and all we need to buy now is some tit tape and a necklace. I think I said on the previous thread that I'm going to get her dad to bring her home from the prom. She's leaving school to go to another for 6th form and I don't think I can cope with the emotional outpourings of hysterical teenagers without crying myself. DH is much more able to cope with that sort of thing. Grin

Horsemad · 23/05/2015 17:05

Good plan Woolly! Smile

Eve · 23/05/2015 18:55

anyone else got 1 today that can barely sting a sentence together?

poor boy is shattered.

Got a maths revision class at school tomorrow - 10am to 2pm. Can fault the school for the effort they put in.

HSMMaCM · 23/05/2015 18:56

DD seems to have a new lease of life after leavers party, so hopefully she will be able to enjoy her holidays revision before the rest of the exams.

Thanks for the condolences about out cat. Smile

We've all had a good cry, and buried her in the garden. I'm just relieved it's over.

No chance of DS having a prom date! "I don't like any of the girls" is his latest take on the prom. Buying a suit will be interesting...and I'm not sure about shoes. Do I get him a brand new pair which he will never wear again, or make him go in his old school shoes? Actually, he might now be the same size as DH, so DH could adopt them if DS has only worn them for 5 hours. Grin

SoupDragon · 23/05/2015 19:14

Sorry to hear about your cat :( I still have occasional flashbacks to when I had to have one of ours out to sleep 2 years ago. Truly horrible. DS2 was 12 and had to be collected from school during his internal exam week as he was so upset.

HSMMaCM · 23/05/2015 19:45

DD still grieves for out cat, who died when she was 3!

I'm quite glad on balance DD and her friends aren't bothering with their unofficial prom - the official one is in yr13. She's so not into dressy dresses. It's a girls' school but they do things like this in conjuction with the corresponding boys' school. The only clothes shopping she needs at the moment is another pair of walking trousers for DofE, and a new wetsuit.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 23/05/2015 21:54

I still don't feel very organised for the prom but at least we have tickets (or have signed up for them) and have the date in the diary. I think dd plans on going with a group of friends and has an invitation for a getting ready together pre-prom thing. I think!

bigTillyMint · 23/05/2015 22:53

Wow. Get those winkle pickers!

Horsemad · 23/05/2015 22:58

Lol, pretty fab aren't they? I did almost pmsl when he tried them on and asked 'should my toe be at the end?' Grin Grin Grin

He is quite intelligent really Wink

TheWordFactory · 24/05/2015 07:21

Lovely suit!

Spurred by this thread we ordered DD's garden party dress and she chose this www.chichiclothing.com/products/Chi-Chi-Laurie-Dress.html

We can only hope for a sunny day, no?
